This. I'm hoping he sits and comes back wk 14 and on through the playoffs.Hard to imagine Rodgers playing this week @Det when sitting him would provide ten more days of rest and then a matchup that doesn't involve an angry, dirty, motivated division rival, on the road on a short week.
Aaron Rodgers (broken left collarbone) was officially limited in Tuesday's return to practice, but coach Mike McCarthy said it "does not look like (he's) going to make it (for Thursday)."
"This is a medical decision, and he's not quite ready," McCarthy said. The coach went on to classify Rodgers as "closer to none than slim" to suit up against the Lions. Why McCarthy refuses to officially rule Rodgers out is uncertain, but he's not going to play. Either way, McCarthy called the practice a "good day of work (Rodgers) needed." He's now on track to return when the Packers host the Falcons in Week 14. Matt Flynn took the first-team reps Tuesday, and should be under center at Ford Field.

He could barely handle the Vikings.I don't see him getting rushed back in. I think the sighting is more gamesmanship than anything else. Flynn can handle the Lions.
He brought the Packers back from the dead in that game. He came in midway through the third quarter and lead the team back from a 7-20 deficit to a 23-23 tie. I think he leads the Packers to a 35-31 win on Thanksgiving. He could barely handle the Vikings.I don't see him getting rushed back in. I think the sighting is more gamesmanship than anything else. Aaron Rodgers (broken left collarbone) confirmed on his Tuesday radio show that he's yet to be cleared for game action.
Rodgers returned to practice on Tuesday, getting in a limited session, but the Packers are just getting him revved up for Week 14. "Flexibility and strength have been the last to come back," Rodgers said. Thanksgiving had been Rodgers' targeted return date, but it was always going to be unlikely just 24 days after his injury. The good news is, Rodgers appears all but certain to be back for the start of the fantasy playoffs next week.

If I were a betting man (and I am), I'd say Flynn has no chance against DET tomorrow. Minnesota was a garbage dump with a terrible overall defense and nothing to truly play for. Not to mention they didn't game plan for Flynn to step in halfway through the game.He brought the Packers back from the dead in that game. He came in midway through the third quarter and lead the team back from a 7-20 deficit to a 23-23 tie. Detroit is the division rival with a playoff spot on the line and something to prove, has one of the best D-lines in the league, and won't be caught off guard. Furthermore, they have a much better offense than MIN, and GB's secondary is going to get torched. Detroit wins by 10 points at least. I'll be happy to return and eat crow if I'm wrong.
But come on...the VIkings didn't game plan for a QB to throw the ball.Detroit has the worst secondary in the league and they cant get any pressure on the QB.If I were a betting man (and I am), I'd say Flynn has no chance against DET tomorrow. Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't the MIN pass defense worse?Detroit has the worst secondary in the league and they cant get any pressure on the QB.If I were a betting man (and I am), I'd say Flynn has no chance against DET tomorrow. They study these QBs every move and tendencies to a tenth of a percentage point for a week, if not longer. No, Flynn and Tolzien are not worlds different as far as their playing style, but I do believe Flynn coming in and not having the advantage of studying his every move the preceding week did have some effect. But come on...the VIkings didn't game plan for a QB to throw the ball.
Because somehow Flynn's game vs. Tolziens is much different to game play for.
Still think Flynn is going to muster 35 points? He brought the Packers back from the dead in that game. He came in midway through the third quarter and lead the team back from a 7-20 deficit to a 23-23 tie. Yeah...at this point, put Tolzien in the rest of the year...see if you have a capable backup QB for the future.Losing here to Detroit just makes Rodgers and even bigger favorite to miss the rest of the year. They are not going to risk his career. He's not coming back.
Prior to Thursday's game against the Lions, Aaron Rodgers told ESPN he thinks he'll be healed in time to play Week 14.
Rodgers is throwing without pain right now, but he was ruled out of the Thanksgiving game because his fractured collarbone isn't completely healed. The risk of aggravation if he got hit was too high. But Rodgers says that he thinks he will regain enough strength and flexibility to get cleared for the Dec. 8 game against the Falcons. His return will be a monster boost for not only his owners, but also those that own Eddie Lacy, Jordy Nelson and James Jones.

+1 he really let me down too. 1st to out of the playoffs in three games.Eh, too late for me. Just like last season Rodgers let me down during the stretch run. The guy was a one year wonder from a fantasy standpoint. Nice QB, but in my FF League he's not a top 5 QB. And his stache is creepy and his commercials suck.
His career? I think that is a little extreme, he should of played this week.Yeah...at this point, put Tolzien in the rest of the year...see if you have a capable backup QB for the future.Losing here to Detroit just makes Rodgers and even bigger favorite to miss the rest of the year. They are not going to risk his career. He's not coming back.
Oh, I forgot you are qualified and have examined Rodgers and his X-rays to know that he should "of" played today. His career? Do you have any idea how bones heal? His career? Was it you who tried this once already?Who would've thought that Rodgers would only have 4 games this year with 2 TD's or more. People want to focus on the injury, but even when he did play this year he wasn't all that spectacular. Don't get me wrong, he's a great QB in real life. He limits turnovers just about better than anyone. But in Fantasy terms he's just not that great anymore. His team runs the ball like crazy, he himself doesn't run anymore, he's got some injury prone receivers, his O-Line sucks, and he plays outdoors in the frozen tundra. Thankfully I won't have to watch him anymore because I can assure you the only way he makes it on my team next year is as a #2 quarterback.
I know he makes a lot of money and he knows the risks of the game and there is always risk of injury even if you are healed as Derrick Rose.Do you have any idea how bones heal? His career? Not in my league's scoring system. Granted my league doesn't penalize for turnovers. I think last year he was ranked 4th and this year, prior to injury, he was 7th or 8th. But what's frustrating about the guy is the inconsistency. Last year he disappeared for about 5 weeks in the middle of the season, and like I said earlier, this year he had two or three of his 7 games that were mediocre. It's not a knock on him. He's a good QB. But he never turned into the fantasy monster that many of us thought he'd be after that unbelievable season a couple years ago. I think in most scoring leagues he has underperformed in each of the last 2 years based on where he was drafted. Hard to dispute that. Was it you who tried this once already?Who would've thought that Rodgers would only have 4 games this year with 2 TD's or more. People want to focus on the injury, but even when he did play this year he wasn't all that spectacular. Don't get me wrong, he's a great QB in real life. #2 overall qb just behind Bree's in 2011 and 2012.
That with the crappy line and in that same cold stadium.
If you would have drafted better he would have literally won you a title had you made it to week 15.Eh, too late for me. Just like last season Rodgers let me down during the stretch run. The guy was a one year wonder from a fantasy standpoint. Nice QB, but in my FF League he's not a top 5 QB. And his stache is creepy and his commercials suck.
And if my Aunt had balls she'd be my Uncle. It certainly didn't help that during weeks 11, 12 and 13 Mr. Discount Doulecheck spit the bit and only mustered 2 passing TD's total in those 3 weeks. If you would have drafted better he would have literally won you a title had you made it to week 15.Eh, too late for me. If you're going to blame your losing on drafting the player who was #2 in points last year then I don't know what to say.And if my Aunt had balls she'd be my Uncle. You're right about one thing, though. I made some very poor drafting choices the past 2 years. In both seasons I selected Rodgers with my first pick. Won't happen again.

If he can't go next week, he probably won't play again this year. Packers might be out of it going into week 15.@AdamSchefter

So you are telling me no one has played football with an injury of these sorts? Think hard. I know of a story where a guy named Jack played on a broken leg and a guy named Ronnie had his finger cut off to play in a game. I assure those are more catastrophic than a broken collarbone, I think the heart is what clearly is the difference here. Not playing because of risk of reinjury is no excuse as you always risk injury. I remember when this game was played by tough men.water1 said:Do you have any idea how bones heal?False Start said:His career? If a guy can play RB on a separated shoulder, a QB can play with an almost healed collarbone. Stop defending Rodgers recovery and start questioning his heart.

The collarbone is the only spot in the body where the shoulder connects to the body by joint. A re injury there would be catastrophicIn terms of resistance to movement, this callus is very weak in the first 4 to 6 weeks of the healing process and requires adequate protection in the form of bracing or internal fixation. Eventually, the callus ossifies, forming a bridge of woven bone between the fracture fragments. Alternatively, if proper immobilization is not used, ossification of the callus may not occur, and an unstable fibrous union may develop instead...
Fracture healing is completed during the remodeling stage in which the healing bone is restored to its original shape, structure, and mechanical strength. Remodeling of the bone occurs slowly over months to years and is facilitated by mechanical stress placed on the bone... Adequate strength is typically achieved in 3 to 6 months...
Irradiation of the fusion site within the first 2 to 3 weeks can inhibit cell proliferation and induce an acute vasculitis that significantly compromises bone healing ...
