**** Official Aaron Rodgers injury thread ***** (1 Viewer)

The question now becomes if he plays, do you start him? This is the championship for most people. Obviously he didn't help us get here so we should have a viable option to use. How rusty will he be after 7 weeks off? Can we really plug him in against a decent Steelers defense and expect vintage Rodgers numbers on this most important week?
My other option is rivers. So I really don't know. I may let FBG decide for me. I decided on that rule a long time ago when I started second guessing their rankings with my expectations. Sometimes they are wrong, sometimes right, but it's a really good way to avoid a serious case if the "what ifs" for the playoffs especially.

I very well may roll with him. How great would it be for him to come out with a 4 TD performance... But then there's also the risk of McCarthy going conservative and handing the ball off a lot to avoid Rodgers from getting hit.

I'm in the same boat. And Rivers has a pretty good match up with OAK at home. It will be a tough call. Part of almost wishes Rodgers stays out.

At halftime of the Monday night game, Adam Schefter said that Rodgers will be examined on Wednesday by Dr. Pat McKenzie. "This is not a football decision. This is a medical decision. It belongs to Dr. McKenzie". No way to possibly tell where this will end up or when we will get definitive word on Rodgers' status. My guess is Wednesday afternoon, but that's just a guess. The good news is there's no Thursday night game this week.

Pure speculation on my part, but here is what I think:

- Rodgers' last scan was a couple weeks ago. There is some controversy as to whether he had a scan done last Thursday afternoon. My guess is that he did not have a scan.

- I am guessing that Rodgers has a scan on Wednesday.

- My guess is that when Rodgers initially sustained the injury, Dr. McKenzie had a timetable in mind of 6-10 weeks. If the low end diagnosis was longer (in other words, 8-10 weeks) then the earliest Rodgers could have come back would be week 16, and I'd think they would have just IR'd him at that point and opened up a much needed roster spot. So, in short, I think we are in the window where they thought Rodgers could come back. Sunday will be 7 weeks since the injury.

- My guess is that Rodgers does indeed get medical clearance and plays this week.

IR'ing Rodgers would mean they have essentially zero chance to win the super bowl. If they didn't expect him back till the 2nd round of the playoffs the would still not IR him. They likely wouldn't make it that far without Rodgers, but at least they would have a chance.

Getting through rounds 2,3 and then the super bowl without Rodgers is about as close to impossible as you can get.

As for this week, I think he has an excelletn chance to be cleared and play. However, this is based on the assumpion his break was of the lowest kind of severity, which we dont know for sure at all.

Look at this, we're actually having a civilized conversation. Must be the holiday season. One thing I agree with you on, the Packers were very wise not IR'ing Rodgers a few weeks ago when their playoff prospects looked bleak. When I heard news reports they were considering this, along with some of the quitting in this thread, it sent me into a tizzy. If the last 2 years have taught us anything it's that anything can happen in December, January and February. I've seen too many teams come back from the dead in November and end up winning it all - Baltimore last year and the Giants the year before.

What's your point? I provided some substantive, late breaking news, and then provided my own bit of speculation as someone who has been following this closely. You trying to drum up trouble with me? Might want to rethink that.

they only considered putting him on IR if they were mathematically eliminated from the playoffs.

And even then who knows for sure. I bet they don't even know for sure if they would have or not.

Well isn't that special. A completely unprovoked insult lobbed at someone for making a completely benign, helpful post in the Shark Pool in direct response to a request from another member for opinions on whether Rodgers would start or not.

Let me break it down for you drummer boy. I eat punks like you for breakfast. So take your useless trolling ### and go #### yourself.

"I eat punks like you for breakfast"? Did we somehow slip into a mid-80s high school bully movie?

General Tso: Go that way, very fast. If something gets in your way, turn.

Stopped following this joke of a thread, but glad to drop by to see this. Anyone who can say something like this, even on a message board, deserves all the ridicule that may come their way.

Good stuff.

LOL. You sanctimonious clowns are all trolls. And CareBear, nice to see you again. So let me get this straight - you are calling me the bully in this? Just wondering where your indignation was when I made a helpful post and was attacked for no reason? You're kidding nobody my friend.

When a child rapist decides to do a good deed and help out a starving family for christmas, it really doesn't change people's views of them very much.

I know most people that read this will percetly understand the analogy. Maybe you will, maybe you won't.

I got a feeling he is gonna be getting a "Cleared to play" come wednesday
I sure hope you are right. If he plays I get to use him as my flex instead of a 2nd kicker. Probably a big difference there.

I think he has a good shot, and by good something at least close to 50-50.

But of course, as said 100 times, I do not know the exact severity of the injury, so it's all speculation.

I think most hope he will play.

About the only ones who may not.

Guys going up against Nelson in the finals...or guys going up against Lacy and wondering how much damage he can do if teams can't stack the box like they do against Flynn.

It is now 7:06. You have exactly 8 hours and 54 minutes to think about WHY you are here - to ponder the error of your ways. You will not talk... you will not move... from these seats.

LOL. Child rapist comparison. I really hope they don't let you near any of the sharp instruments at the hospital.I think at this point everyone is sick of hearing us argue so why don't we all just use the Ignore feature ok?

Rotoworld:

The Packers will capture the NFC North and a home playoff game if they win their final two regular season games.

Thanks to the Lions' loss to the Ravens on Monday night, the Packers and Bears now control their own destiny. They face each other in Week 17 and the division will be on the line if they both win this Sunday. Citing this, beat writer Rob Demovsky says the Packers should push the envelope with Aaron Rodgers' return as long as there's a "minimum level" of risk. A-Rodg is scheduled to be examined by team physician Dr. Pat McKenzie on Wednesday and will likely have another scan Thursday. By Friday, we should know if Rodgers or Matt Flynn will be under center against the Steelers.

Now THAT'S an analogy. Well thought out, intelligent, non-offensive, and - I have to say - reasonably appropriate. And as an aside, definitely the most under-developed and misunderstood character in that movie.

Wow if he doesn't play this week its ridiculous - risk of injury on almost every play in the NFL. Not career threatning if he re-breaks it. I am guessing he'd have to fall in a smiliar fashion for the injury to re-occur but hey that's why it happened anyways in the first place.

Bottom line get him out there.

My guess is Rodgers doesn't play. If he's had less pain and has been practicing, yet still has not been cleared, I don't see why this week would be different from last week.

As a Packer fan taking his son to his first NFL game Sunday, this really sucks. :sadbanana:
Well...you didn't get Rodgers...hope you all stayed through the whole comeback.
Heck yeah we did. Amazing day.
Guessing so...fun game to be at (at least in the 2nd half).

Seemed to get pretty loud there with Packers fans too.

I don't think its good that people are ignorant of what is keeping Rodgers off the field.

I don't understand that line of thinking. If Rodgers could be out there, he would be out there. It's the doctors keeping him from playing, not him or McCarthy.

And worse yet, actually have the gaul to call out an NFL QB's toughness. When once again, did the guys calling him Erin have the balls to play college football? High School even? Sounds like such a comment is more an indictment of the poster than that of Rodgers. Jealousy maybe? Insecurity maybe? I don't know... but it makes you wonder.

Koya lighten up this is fantasy football - calling him "Erin" in the bigger picture means nothing. I did play highschool football and that has nothing to do with questioning his toughness........it's obvious he wants to play but the medical staff is holding him back.

Move on.

If Rodgers plays, what is the realistical production? The WRs obviously take a huge jump up but who would Rodgers be ranked higher than?
