As a first-timer with no freaking clue, I'm going to opt for a no-draft for this one.

It's not an in-or-out proposition, mind you, but I'd just as soon take baby steps with a normal league out of the starting blocks ... preferably with other players that don't understand the game of football.

if everyone understands that and is ready to commit to it then lets do it. if it sounds like too much work then maybe we should stick to regular leagues.

yes we are finishing our 8 man. no reason not too because any other league we start could take several weeks to get off the ground. we've just had a bunch of new FBG's wanting to join so we had to expand from a new 10 team to a new 12 team league. The only league up and running is our 8 team league. We are deciding if we want the next league to be a drafted or regular league right now. So once we figure that out we are only going to have 2 leagues. Our 8 team one, and a new 12 teamer.

If you want I can build a pretty solid team for you to test out, that way you aren't starting out blind. We can also play a friendly game to get you up to speed. We'll replay a lot so you can see what your doing wrong. that goes for any new guy. just let me know if you want to play a friendly game and I'll help out in any way I can.

Sure you will.The only two players (IMHO) that are head and shoulders above their contemporaries is Rice and Earl Campbell. (Earl is just plain annoying when trying to tackle him)

Offensive and defensive linemen seem to make the least impact.

Anytime you make any changes to your team, (even changing their colors) it will change your generic players.

There are tons and tons of plays, but you have to go to your play book editor to open them up. A lot of the plays are very similar, but use different formation/personell.

Set your feet when you throw, if you can't do that, you better get a scrambling QB.

A lot of the specual abilities require you to "charge up" your player. For example, a QB that has the Rocket Arm ability. Hike the ball, hold down A, the star beneath your feet will start to glow and it will peak when it turns blue. With this charged up you will now throw the ball much harder. This is only for players who have special abilities. QB's that don't have the Rocket arm or Lazer arm ability just won't charge up.

When I find one, I will post a link that explains all the abilities.

There is only 1 league right now. The 8 man one we started. Games can be played in any order so just play your fellow FBG's when you see them online.The 12 man draft league is the only other league. We are trying to organize that now.

Thanks for the tips. I have been casually reading the threads and notice that there are lot of random bronze caliber players that are being hyped... It's those types of insights that I think we'd be most behind on. But like I said I'm fine with however everyone wants to do it.

Thanks for the tips. I have been casually reading the threads and notice that there are lot of random bronze caliber players that are being hyped... It's those types of insights that I think we'd be most behind on. But like I said I'm fine with however everyone wants to do it.

There are a lot of bronze players being hyped because well, there are a lot of bronze players.Some people like frantesti's like Robe Moore and Halvin Harper. Im more of a Rocket and Dwight Clarke kinda guy. Carl Banks is IMHO a poor man's Gregg Loyd. A lot of people use Eugene Robinson(FS) an Terry McDaniel(CB). I find that Ken Norton, Chris Speilman and Brian Bozworth are pretty slow at LB.

The biggest recommendation I can say about players is to sign as many rec's it will allow and hit up the practice mode. You will be able to run the same play over and over and over. You will find out if your rec's can catch, how fast they are, and if you like them. Just keep switching them out to find the one you like.

Then you do the same for defense. Sign all defensive legends and hit the practice mode. You can see how fast guys are.

The reason you want to do practice mode is that you can get SOOOO many more plays in because you aren't waiting for kickoffs, time-outs, replays, and cut scenes.

I don't think you can use created players in a league.I'd still be up for it but don't want teams to quit because they think they will suck.
