I don't think Nucky was behind the poisioning.....in all actuality I thought it was more of a political decision that involved the maids race and his (in the previous scene) somewhat tenuous situation with Chalky.
that's how I saw it, too. in addition to his relationship with Chalky, maybe he would rather just not rock any boats with the election about to happen...it would be better to sweep it under the rug.

absolutley. it had everything to do with the black vote.

Somewhat uneventful for a finale, IMO. We knew the Commodore wanted to take the city back for himself and Jimmy, but real suprised to see Nucky's brother involved in the plan. Other than that, not much else to talk about, or am I missing something?
But I think the characters are just as important as the plot line. So for me, the interaction between Nucky and Margaret was as powerful as anything I saw last night.
The looks on their faces, particularly Nucky's, as they progressed through that last scene staring out at the sea were great.
I immediately thought of The Graduate. "Great! We did it! We're back in each others arms!! Now what?"

Any rumors of when season 2 comes out?
2013
this is shtick right?
Of course it is. I haven't seen firm timetables, but judging on how they've done with other successful flagship series, I would say probably a 1 year window. I would expect to see it again next fall.
Fall of 2011. It said as much in the "HBO 2010" clip they showed ahead of the final episode Sunday night.

:ptts: You beat me in posting the link. Good article that gives answers to some curiosities about a few plot lines we discussed in here...

Maid was acting entirely alone. It is exactly what she said: she couldn't take any more of his abuse. Gillian, that was kind of a mislead, she never said anything when he said he found the poison, we just went out on her look. A lot of people assumed it was her, but that was never our intention.

Q:And the bit with Lansky and Lucky in the final montage, that's establishing that they're setting out on their own a little bit?

Yeah. It's sort of a little foreshadowing of the future. These guys are starting their rise as gangsters. They're in business for themselves. They certainly worked for and with Rothstein, but there were other people as well that they were beholden to in New York, and they were also starting to form their own gang

You can definitely see Luciano and Lansky's power growing in the show...loved the quote to Rothstein that something like "the advice is free...you pay for the muscle".

Oh good, so my guess was right  I watch on demand these days, so I didn't see the clip. Thanks for the firm info though...

I liked the comment by Capone to Luciano when they were standing by the beach. Lucky made a comment about Big Jim, and Capone reprimands him for always joking around. Al's getting SERIOUS.

:lmao:

Going to a 20's theme party this weekend. Help me out with things I can do to look the part. So far I have:

Prob depends on your outfit...black/white would be the best for a costume though. And carry a flask full of something?

Jack Huston (grandson of John Huston and nephew of Angelica Huston), the actor who plays the disfigured sniper, has been signed as a series regular for next season.

(For those not in the biz, this elevates him to a main character who should appear in every episode)

Hey thanks for enlightening us flyover rubes. I thought for a minute series regular meant he was killed off between season 1 and 2.Thanks

Meaningless question about the credits... Why does Gretchen Mol get credited as "guest starring"? Does she not have a full contract and only contracted for specific episodes? And does that mean she's not a long term charachter? Just wondering, she has appeared in almost every episope but only gets "guest starring" credit. Anyone know why?
She isnt listed as a "cast" member. Just a recurring character. Like agent Sebso.I dont think she survives season 2.
cool, that's what I was thinking, they know she's gonna get it, they're just not sure when they're going to kill her off.
Ignore how someone is listed in the credits. There will be ppl listed in the main cast who barely get any screentime and there are a variety of reasons ppl get listed as just a "special guest star" that has absolutely nothing to do with their role in a show. Also here's an interwiew with terrance winter about the first season incluiding who was behind poisioning the Commodore:

The trailer they showed last night before Entourage makes it look like things are going to get crazy, and that this season might be better than last season.

Hm. Could we get a non-Entourage fan's take on this?

No he's right. Look's real good, but that's not a real surprise. I fully expect this season to be better. They're replaying last season's episodes every Sunday night, and probably during the week and they play the trailer after every episode.BTW, how was the book?

I hate to say it, but that was pretty bland. I guess they're just setting things up for the rest of the season?

I did enjoy the scenes with Agent Van Alden - he's a fantastic character and Michael Shannon plays it brilliantly.

I've thought Kelly MacDonald is beautiful since Trainspotting, she brings it every episode here too.

I liked it. I think the end of last season let us know where they are headed this season. So now it's just fleshing out how they get there.

Dominic Chianese was in the credits...but was he in that ep?

Why was it important to start by taking out Chalkie first?

I am guessing that old guy Nucky was looking at during the KKK funeral. He seems to have been in a few episodes but I had no clue at all.
Yeah, he was the old guy at the funeral. They also showed him in the previews in some of the guys coming up against Nucky (and spoke in it) - so I have a feeling he may be in a few more episodes going forward.

"You know when Jimmy was a baby and I changed his diaper, I would kiss his little winky."

 WTF is that about? And why did we have to know that?!

There's always been a little too much physicality between Jimmy and his mom. When he first walked into the house and then kissed his mom and then his wife (in almost the same exact fashion), before I realized that the first female was his mom, I thought for a second that he'd managed a three-way living situation.I also seem to recall that the first time the two were on screen together last season, she ran up to him and hugged him, legs-wrapped-around-his-waste style. Very strange, and I seriously think that it will eventually come out (or be heavily hinted at) that they've slept together.
