***Official Call of Duty: Ghosts Thread*** (1 Viewer)

I really really like it based on the few hours I got in last night. The perk system and the way you unlock guns is a huge improvement. Yes the maps are huge but marathon is back so you can zip around the larger maps pretty quickly if the size bothers you. One thing I wish they would have kept from BLOPS is scorestreaks as opposed to kill streaks. Ultimately it's the same game but it seems to run better than any other COD and the way it's organized is a huge improvement on previous iterations of the game.

No hardpoint, demo, and ctf kinda stinks though, unless I'm missing something.

Speaking of headsets, what is a good pair that won't cost me an arm and a leg? wireless doesn't matter.
I have had just about everything out there. The best set-up I can recommend is the AD-700 with an Astro mixamp. A little less money is the Skullcandy SLYR, which has good reviews (need a mix-amp with this one as well). There is a new headphone with upgraded bass on the Ad-700x, but I am not sure how that changed the soundstage. Astro makes a fantastic mixamp, but their headphones are lacking IMO. Skullcandy you won't need a mic, with the AD-700's you'll have to buy a cheap mic to use.

Anything TB, Tritton, etc. will do the job, but not as good as the above. Soundstage (positional hearing) is amazing with the above.

This guy does a good job of breaking the options down, http://www.head-fi.org/t/534479/mad-lust-envys-headphone-gaming-guide-updated-9-2-2013-sony-ma900-added

Laugh all you want, they do help your eyes from burning out. :nerd:

My only complaint so far is the spawn system. On smaller maps I was spawning in front of the enemy and a few times I saw the enemy appear in front of me with his back to me.

Seems to be a common theme with new COD's. I'm sure they will patch this within the week.

I second previous comments that this game is very good. Much more in depth than previous, and hit markers actually do what it is supposed to.

I like it so far as well. Having a tough go early on but I guess that is to be expected. Best hit detection in a COD game - dare I say - ever? It was refreshing to play in a game with the West Coast GB's and not have a major lag disadvantage.

Levelling up is a bit of a grind and a couple maps are stupid large, but overall no major complaints with either and I'll take a map that's too large over the tiny boring maps of MW3 and BO2 any day.

The only thing I'd really change is to reduce bullet damage, but I recognize that COD will be COD and if I wanted that there's always BF4 Domination/TDM to turn to.

Overall I'd say it feels a lot more like MW2 than the previous 3 COD games, except without the grenade launcher spamming and knife monkeys (yet?) and with larger maps in general. This is a good thing, IMO.

50 Kills will be a tougher to get than I thought - My highest was only 29 or so although I'm less than 15 games in. Smoke and Cardfan both broke 40 while we played tho so they are getting close...gotta step it up.
Ran into those a couple of times last night. Panic knifing seems to be back too, distance might not be as much but they can spin on a dime to knife you or run through a few bullets and get you in a tight space (which you have to use to get away from the snipers).

I know it always happens on the new games/maps...but the sniping seems like it will be rampant until the maps are learned. Lots of hiding spots and lines of sight. I am not a sniper so don't know if the guns are still OP or if quick scoping is still possible.

Anyone have insight on which guns/perks/etc are good right now? It is confusing as heck for me trying to figure this out at the moment. I am pretty much a smg/assault guy/rusher type.
http://www.codghosts.net has maps, perks, killstreaks and weapons info. I just spent about an hour digesting that stuff...

If you want good sound quality at a low price point stay away from Turtle Beach. Their headsets in the sub $100 range have really muddy sound. Tritton is a step up. But if you want to spend $200 or up there are better choices.

Primetime going fanboy. :coffee:

Prestiging is quite different in Ghosts. Within multiplayer there are 10 soldiers. Those are your prestiges. You can unlock them as long as you have the squad points to do so, and you can swap back and forth anytime (not during a game tho). So those who hate giving up all their stuff can go work on a new prestige, then switch back to their maxed level if they get tired of grinding. Squad points carry over between soldiers/prestiges too so unlocking stuff will be easier the second time around as you should have some points left over.

Cranked is the best gametype for rushers. And there isn't another good gametype for rushers right now.
That too.
You can rush in TDM as well from what Ive seen. You'll need marathon and sitrep is nice to have to see where everyone is setting up shop

Unrelated issue--I'm having a tough time figuring out domination in this game. In previous games the flag was captured or not. In this one there seems to be like a neutral stage of the flag and when you cap it you dont get a the point toward your kill streak.

Does anyone know if they will track stats for each of your created soldiers separately? When I get enough squad points (which will only take, like, 2 years) I'd like to create different characters with different play style loadouts. I.E. a solder with all stealthy loadouts, another with all power loadouts, another pure sniper, and maybe even one that I use exclusively when I'm playing drunk (more thinking of Whitemonkey here), and it would be great to see how my stats differ for each style.

For as big as the maps are, I have seen some very odd spawns. Pretty close given the size of the maps IMO
Noticed this last night, spawns are broken and need to be the first priority for a patch.

Several times I spawned with an enemy in front of me and shot them in the back. Several times I watched a killcam because I was trying to figure out how the person got behind me when I just came through there...they just spawned is how.

Frustrating, with all they have done right (hit detection and lag issues seem a thing of the past at the moment) why this wasn't fixed given the size of the maps I will never know.

What set-ups are you guys using? There seems like so many and not any one I have used sticks out as "the one"

Right now I'm going with:

AX-160 (or something)

W/ Extended mags and grip

Lethal- IEM, kind of meh for me right now.

Off the grid

Quick draw

Stalker

SOH

SATCOM, Dog and Sentry gun. The sentry isnt what it was in BO2, its takes longer to lock on and you can kill them pretty easy without having to use Blindeye

And the motion sensor stinks too. You get to use it one time...sort of like a claymore/betty/IEM. Once the enemy runs by it goes off and shows that enemey like the Oracle does but for like 1 second.

I've been going without a secondary, lethal, or tactical for the extra perk slots. I think that's the way to go. The pistols are pretty weak (haven't tried the PDW) and I don't see any reason to use a launcher.

as always...i am absolutely terrible, but can't seem to stay away from buying this franchise...

I've been switching up my classes constantly, but right now I'm trying to get a stealth class going.

Honey Badger with Grip and Extended Mags

No seconday, lethal, or tactical (not my style)

Perks: Dead Silence, Off the Grid, WireTap, and Quickdraw.

I had figured that it would be fun and a big advantage to have both Off the Grid and WireTap going this early in the game, but so far that hasn't been the case. I lose too many gun fights with this set up and, without Agility, I'm getting easily spotted and picked off. I'm probably going to modify this and replace the "upside" (Wiretap) with greater help with stealth (Agility and Ready Up). Also contemplating elminating both Quickdraw and Wiretap and instead use Steady Aim, Agility, Ready Up, and Takedown.

I do use wiretap on my rush (Bizon) and power (AK-12) classes tho, as well as stalker and agility, and I'm having much better success with those classes.

Overall I'm finding that you really have to play this game at a slower pace than some of the previous COD's to be successful. Now if I only I can heed my own advice - it is very hard to resist the temptation to run given the size of the maps.

This is me. I keep trying to remind myself of that, sometimes more successful than others.

I am using the honeybadge myself with no secondary. The perks and attachments I have been experimenting with and haven't found a combo I really like yet. I haven't tried the Takedown or Wiretap, have to play a few rounds with those.

There is a gun (can't remember the name and I can't go to COD websites from work) that is a 3 round burst AR that I got full auto for. I like it but having to use an attachment slot for full auto sucks. Really needs a sight and grip along with full auto but don't want to use the perk for that.

Oh, I was officially quick scoped (by a clan mate no less) several times last night...so that abomination is still in the game. <_<

The AR is probably the MSBS. Apparently it's OP enough people are already just calling it the BS.

Not sure about the name, just unlocked it last night. If that is the one I am talking about it jumps a lot on full auto (hence the need for the foregrip), and the sights suck so you need one of those also. So really need 3 attachment slots to make it effective, and that is without a silencer, FMJ, etc...so that seems like a fair trade off. But, I never had a problem with the PDW before it was nerfed in BOII either.

Thats the gun. I love the 3 round burst guns but its not as good as the other AR's

Well after the first few days not very impressed. Maps are just too big except for a handful of them. No fun killstreaks, and the support one don't seem worth it to even have them.

Maybe it will grow on me.

Don't need a secondary anymore since no planes or choppers to shoot down. No Tactical. Keep on lethal for the IED which gets me 1-2 kills a match usually

OK, the SC-2010 doesnt have recoil and you can smash with that thing at medium to ling range. The AK-12 and the Fad are very good as well. The AK's iron site area really easy on the eyes so you cant pick another attachment instead of a dot.

Is there ANY chance they give PS3/X-box 360 users the 9v9 when the next gens come out?
