I thought that the only chance Cincinnati had was for Oakland to pull out a win in New York coupled with a Bengals win versus Pittsburgh. I was wrong, as a Chiefs victory against Jacksonville (very possible), a 49ers win at Denver (not likely), and a Bengals win could work as well. Are either one of these scenarios even remotely possible?

Certainly it's possible - hell, AZ knocked Minny out of a playoff spot a couple years ago with nothing to play for. Realistically I give it about a 1/6 chance of happening.

WHO DEY!

I hope and firmly believe that Denver will crush SF, which leaves the OAK over NYJ. I don't see why an upset couldn't happen in that game, seems to me that you never know which Jets team is going to show up. From a Cincy standpoint I'd worry about PIT and let the chips I can't control fall as they may.

If the Bengals misses the POs, they might learn a valuable lesson. They dropped a few games they certainly should have won, I'd hate to see a team this talented miss out but it would be well deserved

They could still make it but the Steelers should be up for the game for a myriad of reasons:

1) The game is against a hated division rival

2) A win keeps the Bengals out of the playoffs

3) Could be Cowher's last game as coach

4) A win keeps them from a losing season

That said, the Bengals will be up for the game as well. It should be an interesting game...

As far as deserving it goes, if they make it then then they deserve to be there.

Agreed, either way they deserve their fate

:moneybag: The Jets have been very consistent this year. They had one horrible game(Jacksonville), one pretty bad game(2nd Buffalo game), and one game that you really think they should've won(@Cleveland)...other than those 3 they've shown up and played well every single week.

The Jets look pretty inconsistent recently. Look at the last 4 weeks:1. Blow out Packers in Green Bay2. Get blown out at home against the Bills3. Blow out the Vikings in Minnesota4. Barely eek out a victory against the Dolphins at Miamiup, down, up, down.

By that Scenario, they are due for an UP. Expect them to blow out Oakland, and Chris Henry and the rest of the Bengals can go back to doing what they do best. This from a disgusted Bengals fan.

I am a disgusted Bengals fan too, but don't think that the type of trouble they have gotten into is not happening in other NFL cities too. Cincinnati-area cops get off on busting high-profile targets. I am not excusing what those players did, but don't for a second think that other teams are innocent.I am more disgusted at Carson over-throwing receivers all year, Chad dropping passes and fumbling last week, Chris Henry playing like a punk, Rudi fumbling the last three weeks, etc., etc., etc.

What players get my respect this season? T.J., Madieu, Sam Adams, J. Joseph, Jeanty. That's about it. Despite all of the missing players, this team is still a top-6 team in the AFC, yet they pissed away the season.

I agree every NFL team has players that are punks, as with every team in every sport. That is just the nature of the beast. However, to see it happen publicly time and time again with them is discouraging. Many of these offenses are EASILY preventable. DUI's are a mark of stupidity, IMO. Especially for someone who makes enough money to buy their own cab company. Same with BUI... though that one does seem a bit ridiculous.

Waving a gun around at a club? Are you serious?? Come on. These guys are immature and take for granted that they are who they are. If you don't think it translates to the field, then I would like to see where you stand there.

In reality, all these crimes show a lack of discipline in one's self. This transforms to a lack of discipline on the field. How many times were the Bengals making stupid mistakes on the field this year that cost them a game?? I know, I know. Every NFL team makes mistakes, but the Bengals talent is better than what they have shown. That missed extra point last week was a joke. I could do nothing but laugh. So he wasn't an arrested Bengal. There were plenty of other mistakes in that game, and it never should have come down to that.

Did you see the article where it was more important to Carson Palmer how someone performs on the field than what they do in their personal life?? That is coming from a team leader?? BS. He got on Chris Henry for not trying on that play, and that overrides everything else?? I don't think so.

Until these players hold each other accountable for their mistakes on AND off the field, this is the Bengals team we are going to be seeing for a few years. I believe in second chances, but I also believe the organization went in the wrong direction in this past draft. Did ML's ego get the best of him?? Seems every round in the draft was questionable, based on character. I don't want a bunch of boy scouts out there, but there are great teams with solid individuals. A good coach gets the most out of his players, and ML is not, and that is partially because of the character issues.

That being said.... Peko was a steal.

PS. I will add Geathers and KK to your list of players who get respect. KK doesn't have nearly as much talent as most of these guys, but when he comes in, he plays hard. He has made some HUGE plays this year. Geathers is coming around in good fashion. He is always around the ball, it seems, ala Jason Taylor. Cant think of anymore, but there are a lot of players on this team that did NOT get arrested, or cost the team a game singledandedly.

Marvin is not your typical coach. He relates to troubled youths and has a history of 1) giving "bad seeds" a chance and 2) molding them into class citizens. I personally don't think it is ego. Think of it as the same type of person that volunteers his/her time to help the inner-city youth by becoming a mentor. If the organization and fans cannot accept that, he should be dismissed.

Agreed.

That is something I can agree with. However, this can be overdone when you are talking about millions of dollars. I respect Marvin as a coach and human being, but I think he is trying to overdo it. I don't want the Bengals to become the new Raiders, the way the Raiders have become the new Bengals.
