Milton likely out for the rest of the season.

:hot:

Does anyone know how many more years the Reds have him under contract?

Milton to have season-ending elbow surgery

June 11, 2007

CINCINNATI (AP) -- Reds pitcher Eric Milton is scheduled to have reconstructive elbow surgery Friday, almost certainly ending his season.

It's possible the left-hander will never throw another pitch for the Reds. He can become a free agent when his $25.5 million, three-year contract expires this fall.

Great link. Where did you get that info???

With Adam Dunn on the block,....the Post had an interesting comment about how he is a perfect DH candidate for any AL team. Is there any AL team with an abundance of "good" pitching that needs a little extra punch at the plate?

If Krivsky pulls the trigger and gets little or nothing in return, I'll be really pissed!

I don't have a link, but I've heard Adam say a bunch of times that he hates DH'ng and would never resign with an AL team that had any intention of DH'ng him. Since he can end his deal at the end of this year, that means we'd be talking rent-a-player if he gets traded to an AL team.

Does Billy Bray have the ability to develop into a dependable closer?
I just want someone dependable for the 8th inning. Hopefully things will look better when Guardado and Bray return. I don't like Majewski or Santos, and I'm tired of hearing how Stanton has turned things around, he absolutely sucks.

:sadbanana:Who knows with Bray. I thought I saw something on the screen about an MRI showing inflammation in Bray's shoulder last night. And I wouldn't expect much in return for Dunn unless a couple of teams get themselves into a mini bidding war. The roster flexibility and ability to spread his future salary around a bit may prove just as important as the player(s) they get in return for him. I'll be shocked if Krivsky can get a major league ready arm of any consequence for him. There was a rumor that probably has zero merit that San Diego might be persuaded to part with Cla Meredith for Dunn. That's probably the best that can be done, if that.

- G. Majewski relieved H. Bailey

- C. Figgins singled to left, R. Willits to third, E. Aybar to second

- O. Cabrera walked, R. Willits scored, E. Aybar to third, C. Figgins to second

- V. Guerrero singled to right center, C. Figgins and E. Aybar scored, O. Cabrera to third

Seriously, just cut this POS now.

- M. Stanton relieved G. Majewski

- G. Matthews Jr. hit sacrifice fly to deep right, O. Cabrera scored, V. Guerrero to second

- C. Kotchman singled to right, V. Guerrero scored, C. Kotchman to second advancing on throw

Seriously, #### Stanton and Majewski. #### THEM!

at least Dunn is driving up his trade value today. you should get a couple of B level prospects for him next month.

and you forgot this stat: 0 innings pitched.

Or is late '70s success more important?
Not to butt in, but I greatly enjoyed the 80s uniforms and Garry Templeton's hair. However, Paul Householder >>>> Sixto Lezcano.
Alan Wiggins >>>>> Eddie Milner
 Once filled out an All-Suck 1980s Reds Team. Milner was narrowly edged out in CF by Gary Redus.
Milner was Eric Davis without the speed, power, bat or glove.

Hold on there. Milner had some speed -- BBR shows him with seasons of 41 and 35 stolen bases and 145 for his career (yeah, I looked it up). He was no Wiggins but give him credit for the so-so single tool player he was.

i love me some Ron Oester.
That dude picked my concussed behind off the basketball court in HS after an elbow knocked my nose halfway across my face. He and Buddy Bell coached our HS junior varsity. I'll always remember him looking at me and saying, "That's going to be a problem.":mellow:He also nearly got fired for throwing down with a referee after a game one night.

All 1980s Sucky Cincinnati Reds...Bench/ Nick Esasky
Get the hell out of here! How do you even let Nick Esasky get a whiff of anything titled "all sucky" anything?Esasky was Hal Morris before Hal Morris.
Esasky couldn't stay healthy, barely hit .270 and was one of the crappiest 3B I have ever seen in a Reds uniform. Plus, his vertigo goes nicely with Householder's hepatits to give this team additional humorous value.Hal Morris was Tony Gwynn compared to Esasky. :lmao:

Does Weathers get the boot as closer when Everyday Eddie returns???

Notes: Guardado sees path to Reds

Plans several more rehab appearances before joining club

CINCINNATI -- Eddie Guardado can finally see the light at the end of the tunnel.

"You always see a little sparkle, but now it's getting bigger. It's getting brighter," the reliever said.

After reconstructive left elbow surgery in September resigned him to months on the disabled list and weeks of rehab outings, Guardado said Thursday that he planned on making three appearances over four days for Triple-A Louisville. If all goes well, Guardado could make his return to the Reds bullpen as early as next Tuesday at Oakland.

"It's another step forward," Guardado said.

Guardado, who will meet the Bats in Rochester, N.Y., said he will be ready to assume the normal workload demands of a closer when he gets back.

"Once you get activated, you've got to be ready to go," he said. "You're ready to rock. Three days, four days, you're ready. You've got to be."

On Wednesday night, Guardado earned a save for Class A Dayton with one inning of work. He gave up one hit and had one strikeout in 16 total pitches. Guardado also said he saw some of his velocity return on Wednesday, with pitches reaching as high as 88 mph on the stadium radar gun.

"It's another step forward," Guardado said of Wednesday night's game. "We'll see where I'm at after that back-to-back [on Sunday and Monday for Louisville]."

Manager Jerry Narron said on Thursday that Guardado's appearances over the weekend should serve as the left-hander's final test before making his return to the Reds.

I think so. Weathers would probably be the primary setup guy, as the Reds have given up 873,400,129 runs in the 8th inning this year.

What everyday player would you put ahead of Milner in CF (or LF with Redus in center)? I guess you could put Walker in LF, but Milner sucked enough IMO. Milner and Esasky would be the MVPs of this team, but they still sucked. There's a crapload of guys you could put on the bench. Esasky and Trevino probably got too much PT to fit as bench guys. Let's add Rafael Landestoy with Skeeter in their place. We need another long reliever too.

Dave Collins sucked, especially during his second stint with the team. I hated him. What about Max Venable? Rolando Roomes? I'd take Redus or Milner over any of these guys.

Yeah, Venable should at least be a bench player. I forgot he was a semi-regular for a couple seasons. I still like the extended mediocrity of guys like Milner and Redus, but you're right, they were legit major leaguers even if they weren't any good. Forgot about Rolando Roomes. :football: Those teams were bad.Should also have Vern Rapp managing this mess.

I didn't watch Wed's game since it was a day game, but read in the paper that Narron pinch hit Castro for Hamilton. This is after Hamilton had already accounted for 2 of the Reds' 3 runs with a homerun.

Hamilton's stats are better against lefties and righties than Castro's. Narron's comment when asked about it after the game was that Castro was 1-for-1 lifetime against Embree. :loco:

Seriously, can this ###hole now.

That at bat came not long after the turn of the century -- June 2000. <_<

Junior and the Seattle organization exchanged a nice level of class towards one another tonight. Afterall, the Mariner's probably wouldn't still be in Seattle without Griffey.

Homer Bailey was optioned back to the minors, but it only looks temporary in order to keep him on a regular rotation with the All Star break. He has to be down there a minimum of 10 days.
