Judge terribly misplayed that Kipnis hit.
Yeah he still scares the hell out of me every time.Update: 0-10 with 8 Ks.![]()
I agree with this move; he's trained himself to be able to pitch this short, hopefully he's not writing a check with his mouth that his arm can't cash. I doubt it, because he seems to have grown up noticeably since last year.tonight's game will likely be rained outIf the Tribe was going to lose any games in this series, it was going to be this one. Tanaka and Carrasco were both straight dealing. I know people on twitter were frustrated at everybody swinging at those nasty curves, but we've all seen those pitches and know how tempting they look. No matter how many times we tell ourselves to lay off it, we get suckered in again.
The saving grace was that Tito forced Girardi to use Chapman for a 5 out, 34 pitch and high-leverage save. Hopefully, that means he's less effective if they bring him tonight.
Bauer was announced as the game 4 starter pretty much right after the game.I agree with this move; he's trained himself to be able to pitch this short, hopefully he's not writing a check with his mouth that his arm can't cash. Even better for us!tonight's game will likely be rained out
Trevor Bauer is a horrible matchup for him because judge struggles with pitches up in the zone and it clearly threw him off his gameNow 0-11 with 9 strikeouts.![]()
Hicks went. Should have been out of the 2nd only giving up 1 unearned. Thanks Gio. <_<
Was Tomlin avail to start after his relief appearance in game 2? 1/3 of our lineup basically didn't contribute during much of Aug/Sept. Think about it.Peak said:6 unearned runs. Swinging at nonsense. I don't get it. It's like they've never swung a bat before. Being aggressive is one thing, but chasing every pitch is goofy. Make him throw a strike before you start swinging away. Lindor started that way but where did it go?
Why hasn't Tito swapped Ajax for Kipnis yet? His defense is hurting us, and he's not getting it done offensively either.
Can't argue much here. I had reservations with Brantley coming in as the DH after not hitting for about a month. Kip is good to help, but I also thought the plan was to sub out for defense after awhile. That's what I thought Allen and AJax were around to help with - hell, even Lonnie. Bruce was standing right next to Kip on that Sac Fly, and all I could think was "let Bruce do it...Let Bruce do it!"1/3 of our lineup basically didn't contribute during much of Aug/Sept. As much as I praise Tito, I don't get some things he's done. No way would I have thrown anyone on short rest. No way should Kipnis be hitting 2nd against CC (maybe at all) or logging this many innings in CF. That concerned me before the series. AJax deserves to be playing more. Hell, why not DH Kipnis after EE went down? Brantley has been given too long a leash especially considering he was looked at simply as a PH going into the series. Frustrating as always...
Kluber better be "right" going into this start, something didn't seem "right" during game 2 to me and it wasn't because his neck was sore from looking over his shoulder.

Not sure, but I think that line drive to Gio's leg hurt something between his ears as well. He wasn't playing the same after that, and it cost us. Agree that we could've pulled Kip to 2B and Jose to 3B, with AJax or Lonnie in CF to help offset the mental errors. No adjustments were made. Very surprised.
I understand that viewpoint on Bauer and I'm not going to argue against it. But on the other side:I've always been a "In Tito We Trust" guy, but the Kipnis thing smacks of over-loyalty.
As far as Bauer on short rest goes, I can't say I would have had much confidence in Tomlin or Clevinger against that line-up in that stadium. If they play the kind of defense we had become accustomed to throughout the season behind Trevor it's a whole different outing.
I'm just going to assume Klubot will be Klubot tomorrow and J-Ram will stop swinging at crap and we'll have Houston on Friday.
I do agree with this, and I wasn't down on Bauer getting a start on 3 days rest. I might attribute some of the issues to the wet conditions the first inning (ex:ball slipping out of Perez's glove). Tomlin wasn't too bad in short relief, and I like him better to assist Kluber at home tomorrow vs in Yankee stadium. Clevinger did okay, but he looked a little anxious - rushing deliveries and unsure at times. He seems very OCD in his mannerisms and routines, and I think last night may have been a little too spontaneous for him. Asked if Encarnacion could play in Wednesday's winner-take-all game, Francona said, "I think so. He's been hitting off the machine already. We're going to have him run during the workout today. He's never exactly our biggest basestealing threat, but we want to use common sense.
"He'll do some running during our workout and we'll gauge where he is. But I think he's going to be OK."
Francona said Urshela showed up sore after taking liner off left leg: "That ball kind of attacked him." Could impact Game 5 lineup.
Francona was asked if there's anything he can do to help Jose Ramirez (2-for-17) to relax. Tito: "Do you want me to give him like a Xanax?"
Something tells me this isn't an off the cuff answer and he truly means what he said. I also imagined this in a robotic voice as he held his stoic glare across the crowd.Kluber was asked what he learned from his Game 2 start and what he'll aim to correct for Game 5. His in-depth, detailed reply: "Everything."
I would agree with this. Klubot is professional enough to know what he has to do (Carrasco & Salazar too except Salazar physically isn't able to make it work). I would bet shadyridr a donut that Kluber isn't getting shelled tonight. One last one from Kluber...via Jordan Bastian

Horrible callsGonna be tough to crack the fat man if he's getting those balls called strikes all night.
I just don't think it's been consistently calledHaven't watched every pitch but looks like a fairly wide strikes one. That strike on EE was off the plate.
I'll admit it hasn't but ill take itI just don't think it's been consistently called
But I'm not going to take anything away from the Yanks. They were hitting Kluber hard and the Indians can't touch CC. They deserve to be winningI'll admit it hasn't but ill take it
Well there you go
