Do your radio announcers always get overly excited when the other team hits a home run like it was an Indian who hit it. Or does the play by play guy have a homosexual thing going with Adam Dunn?
Homosexual thing going with Adam Dunn.Next question.
It was really bad yesterday also. I swear that they are disappointed Chicago isn't winning these games by their voices. When Chicago makes a play we get high-pitched screeching, when the Indians win we get monotone ho huminess.

Even living here for the better part of a decade I can't get a pulse on who the Indians fanbase hates more - the Tigers or Sux. I think it's the Sux, but it's close. The above says otherwise though. Seems to just depend, but whichever way they sway it seems strong. The Cleveland media guys (Hamilton? Underwood? Manning?) must be on the hate Detroit train.

Over the past two days they said at least five times how Manny Acta says the White Sox are a better team than Detroit. He might be right but they are really trying to convince everyone it's true for some odd reason.

6 game home stand to finish, give Sandy some time with these guys, going to do it anyway - and most importantly, headlines get buried by the Browns on primetime.

yeah but why not give him 1+ month instead of 1 week?
Yeah the timing is curious. I think maybe Acta told someone off or something of that nature because they just beat the Sux two out of three, and there are six games left. Seems like you said, they would have fired him a month ago to give Sandy a look.Francona's name already being thrown around too.

I can't imagine Francona wants any part of this :tfp: My thought is that the FO gives Alomar the full-time gig and use nostalgia/good will with the fans to try and buy some time to rebuild. Thing is, IMO, the FO has less goodwill than they think.

Saw this posted on another site:

In the 7th round of the 1994 draft, we picked Russell Branyan. In 2002, we traded him to the Reds for Ben Broussard. In 2006, we traded Broussard to the Mariners for Choo.In 2012, we traded Choo to the Reds for Bauer.

Does this balance out Brian Giles for Ricardo Rincon?
Maybe. Giles was certainly expendable. Didn't work out. Tough to say that the Mariners made a sound trade here (or Eduardo Perez for Asdrubal also in 2006 I believe). Here is an interesting piece.
Friday, July 27, 20125,000 days since the Giles-Rincon tradePosted by Chris Jaffe 5,000 days ago, a rather one-sided trade took place. Admittedly, both sides got a good player in it, but one guy’s value was more than a little bit higher than what the other guy brought to the table. It was Nov. 18, 1998, and the Indians landed Pittsburgh reliever Ricardo Rincon for up-and-coming slugger Brian Giles. Now, Ricardo Rincon was a quality pitcher in the bullpen. After he spent seven years in Mexico, the Pirates picked him up and got a pair good seasons of middle relief from him. And he had a number of good seasons in front of him. Though Rincon could pitch, he couldn’t pitch much. A LOOGY, Rincon threw 443.2 innings in 565 career appearances with five teams over 11 years. He typically threw 40 innings per season. And with that little quantity, you didn’t trade away quality like Brian Giles. In his first year in Pittsburgh, 28-year-old Brian Giles came into his own, hitting 39 homers with 115 RBIs while batting .315. Oh, he also drew 95 walks. That set the tone for Giles in Pittsburgh. In four full seasons and part of a fifth, Giles batted .308 with 165 home runs. Giles received MVP support in each of his four full seasons there. While the trade didn’t work out for Cleveland, you can understand the Indians' logic. Giles was a late bloomer whose 10th big league at-bat came when he was 25 years old. In 1997-98, Giles got serious playing time, and while he was good he wasn’t great. At ages 26 and 27 he hit a little under .270 with about 20 homers. He was nice, but that was it.And the team already had guys who could hit. Manny Ramirez. Jim Thome. Yeah, they could hit a little. David Justice. Kenny Lofton. They had their advantages, too. Heck, even Travis Fryman had a good track record. Plus they had another kid coming up named Richie Sexson. But they could use some help in the bullpen. Their only left-handed reliever of note was Paul Assenmacher. He was very good for a great many years, but he was going to be 39 in 1999. He couldn’t last forever—and in fact he fell apart completely in 1999. And Rincon was a legitimately good LOOGY. So Cleveland dealt a strength to address a weakness. That’s just sound baseball logic right there. But it came off looking like a terrible trade when Giles suddenly metamorphasized from a good hitter to an MVP candidate. Thus the trade is one Cleveland would probably like to have back. But it’s too late—5,000 days too late, to be precise.

Well, nothing quite says, "Indians Off-season" like Jose Canseco tweeting @IndiansGM asking for a job and then later on yesterday recommending personnel moves. Oof. :shark:

One possible lineup:OF (L-R): Brantley - Bourn - StubbsIF (3b-1b): Chisenhall - Cabrera - Kipnis - SwisherC: SantanaDH: ReynoldsETA:

Bourn could wind up in a starting outfield alongside Swisher and Michael Brantley. The Indians also acquired center fielder Drew Stubbs in a trade with Cincinnati, giving Francona options and depth. It's possible Swisher could be moved to first or even be used as the club's designated hitter. Mark Reynolds, also signed during the offseason, can play first or DH.
I hope it can cover up the pitching staff. :scared:

Was there a secret ownership change or something? Who are these guys out there actually spending money? Crazy.
Until this signing payroll was similar to last year. That many bad contracts. I think stubbs is the short end of the stick here, which given his issues with the bat is a good thing. Lefty and late innings specialist.

When you off-load Pronk and Sizemore, those two deadbeats alone freed up a good bit of money.

Will be my first Spring Training visit this year. Got some work down in Phoenix mid March. Looks like I can catch one, maybe two, Tribe games. If only one, might try and hit up another park.

I'm going to say that this year's team will be a lot more exciting to watch. They'll end up 85-77 which will be about 5 games out of first. They make the wild card game.
