** OFFICIAL ** Cleveland Guardians thread - spring training (3 Viewers)

AL Central might just get one of the wildcards IMO. Might depend on games vs the Royals in the end, we'll see.
Definitely. Tribe must avoid the late season swoon that has plagued them. You guys will be fine without JHunny...Miggy keeps getting dinged too but I don't sense any major issues there.

Wish the Tribe made a bigger move but really nothing happened overall. Salazar for a LHP specialist...no thanks...we'll see what Rzy has.

Yet another walk-off!!! It was nice to see the team come back after falling behind in the 9th. The sac flies were an example of great productive outs.

Plus, the benefit of knowing Homer Harrelson had to keep from throwing up again makes me smile.

Huge plate appearances by Bourn and Kipnis last night. Great at bats.

Going for the sweep now.

Masty wins again 6-1! The sweep is complete!!!

Big four game set this week against the Kitties - need to split at a minimum. I'm glad they move Ubusto out of this series and are giving Salazar a spot start. Ubusto doesn't do well against the Tigers and they can't afford to throw a game away with him on the mound.

An absolutely awesome outing by Kluber is wasted because Tito decided to run CP out there for the third night in a row. That 4-run 9th really sucked the life out of the crowd. :wall:

Masterson just showed the home plate and 3rd base ump a legit beeening....well maybe if there wasn't a runner on 3rd....

I thought that was Tiger fan chanting "Detroit Baseball"...kinda like that lame "Detroit Basketball" thing they do/used to do. Oh well, nice retort I suppose...but they win big baseball games...and Cleveland isn't exactly overflowing with golden coins.

Rondon was consistently hitting 102 and 103 last night.

How is that guy's ERA 4+?
When he was up in the first part of the year he couldn't locate. So he'd walk a guy, then two, then he'd try to locate and someone would hit a double to the gap. They sent him down to work a little on his control and he's been pretty good since returning. He's still susceptible to a bad inning because he doesn't always have his control, but you are looking at a premium reliever pretty soon. Guy is an animal.

SWEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEP!
Not as good as sweeping the White Sux mind you, but still pretty ####### good.

Indians 36-14 at home vs teams not named the Tigers, not good vs the Tigers.

I think this team is good though, a late season meltdown much less likely this year. You're an Ohio State fan so I don't expect you to understand anything I just wrote, kind of like a dog to be honest.

Wade>want a treat!!!! Wade>blah, blah, blah, blag, walk, blah, blah, wade, blah, dumb, blah, blah, blah, dumb####er, wade, blah, blah, blah.

I laughed. I'm sorry WG. :bag:

Good one.

Not much to say other that Indians blew it big time. Tigers look like best team in league right now. Not sure who can beat them with that pitching.

Ubaldo on the bump tonight - need to take 2 of 3 from the Twinks before this next road trip.

3 each in Atlanta and Detroit before 3 at home against the O's. We ought to get a pretty good idea if we're in or out by then.

An unknown team has claimed Kendrys Morales off revocable trade waivers from the Mariners, according to Jon Paul Morosi of FOX Sports (on Twitter). It has yet to be reported when Morales was claimed or by whom, but the Mariners and the claiming team would have two days to work out a deal.

Morales, 30, is batting .284/.340/.449 with 17 homers in his first season with Seattle. The Mariners acquired him from the Angels straight up for Jason Vargas in a rare intra-division trade this offseason. The Cuban switch-hitter is earning $5.25MM this season, meaning he's owed roughly $1MM for the remainder of the 2013 campaign.

Morales will be a free agent for the first time this offseason, so the Mariners do have the option of hanging onto him and making a qualifying offer of roughly $14MM following the season. Were he to decline such an offer, the Mariners would gain a compensatory pick in the 2014 draft (a new team would not be allowed to do so, per the new CBA). However, as Dave Cameron of Fangraphs and the U.S.S. Mariner wrote last night, extending a qualifying offer to Morales doesn't look as wise at it did two months ago, as he's regressed significantly since early June.

Several teams have been looking to acquire offense, including the Orioles, Indians, Yankees and Rangers. It seems likely that an American League team placed the claim on Morales, as every team in the AL would have a crack at him prior to the NL (in reverse order of standings), and he's only played first base 27 times this season (as opposed to 96 games at DH).
It would be interesting to see who claimed him.

Heading to the game in D on Friday night.

Good win for the Tribe yesterday. Would like to see Cleveland get in as a wild card team after the nice comeback season they have had.

On another note Swisher stinks....I thought he would be a nice addition but not doing much at all.

I'm starting to believe that they're actually going to be an AL wildcard.

Hopefully if they do they'll get to host the WC game so they can play in front of 13,000 rabid fans.

For the record, this is not my alias.

But I would have said the exact same thing, word for word. :)

2 series against KC mixed in with

4 @CHW

3 v HOU

2 v CHW

3 @MIN

You couldn't ask for a better slate of games to close out a season

You realize this is Cleveland we're talking about?

Well, it could be better, but it's kind of hard for Cleveland to play themselves.

Please go away! Thought the Tribe was supposed to fold up tent after the 4 game sweep.

Just glad the Tribe could not handle the Tigers this year of they would be running away with the division.

I've been following them for 45 years; I assume playing a game against Little Leaguers will cause us to burn through our bullpen and they would be lucky to scrape by with a 2-1 win.

The sweep is complete! 4 in a row against the White Sux. :bye:

Now the Tribe is only 1/2 game out of both wild cards and Texas and Tampa are playing each other!! :pickle:

#clucktober

Phew! That was a big win/comeback tonight. Ventura looked good for KC. No scare from Perez. I like having Salazar on the bump tomorrow and then Ubaldo opening the Houston series.
