1. I wanted to start this thread before Timscochet or any of his aliai could get to it.

2. I never thought I would see the day when we would have a college football playoff even if it is just 4 teams.

3. Placeholder to complain about which team(s) was left out.

4. Where are all those people now that previously claimed the lame argument, "every game in the college season is like a playoff"?

I'm not sure how it took so long to do something that makes so much sense, but I'm glad the people at the NCAA and all the big conferences finally came to their senses. This is going to be an unforgettable season leading to the first College Football Playoff in history.

Here are my preseason picks for the playoff:

South Carolina

LSU

Ohio State

Oklahoma

CFP Semi-finals = January 1st (NOLA and Pasadena)

CFP Final = January 12th (Dallas)

Will be really interesting to me to see what the attendance does from the semi's to the final.

The BCS Champ has not been near as Corporate in the stands as the Super Bowl. That will be changing, for the Final at least.

Odds to win the SEC championship:

NCAA Football 2014-2015 Season - Odds to win the SEC Championship
Alabama 7/5
Auburn 5/1
South Carolina 5/1
Georgia 6/1
LSU 13/2
Florida 12/1
Ole Miss 14/1
Texas A&M 25/1
Mississippi State 40/1
Missouri 40/1
Tennessee 50/1
Arkansas 100/1
Kentucky 200/1
Vanderbilt 200/1

Things that stand out.

The Alabama bet is terrible. Alabama has 2 SEC titles in the last 5 years. Alabama also has 2 SEC titles since 2000. LSU has 4 since 2000, Auburn 3, and Florida 3.

Ole Miss is a horrible bet. How are they getting better odds than A&M? Ole Miss' last SEC title was 50 years ago.

A&M and Missouri are not horrible bets.

25/1 and 40/1. Yes please. It probably won't happen, but in the SEC anything can happen as last year proved. I can't find the odds on Missouri and Auburn last year, but I'm guessing they were pretty good.
