Official Corey Coleman - WR - Patriots (2 Viewers)

Debating CoCo or LarryFitz. Not loving Fitz matchup, because I see AZ crushing SF early. No reason to throw.

Starting him due to bye week issues.. Sure wish Hue had kept McCown in though..  Not sure of Kessler on the road vs. the Ravens D..

Starting him right now over Sterling Shepard as my Flex/WR3, although I might just put SS in over BMarsh considering how meh He has been the last few weeks.

Starting him at what the heck upside flex over a few guys with better floors.

Got a feeling he's going to have a big game.  But what do I know? I'm just the town idiot according to @Hot Sauce Guy

Maybe he gets a garbage time score but he's certainly not commanding targets when the game is in question. He's going to take a little while to develop and his injury put him behind this year. I'd just like to see some improvement as the season winds down. He's unlikely to be in my starting lineup at all this year.

We all thought McCown was going to boost him?  Yeah that was disproven tonight.  Say hello to my bench until he scores 20+ in PPR, then maybe he sniffs my lineup.

I started him in 2 leagues.

Once over Randall Cobb (who was only in for emergency situations last week with a grand total of two targets), and in another league it was either start Coleman or get some waiver wire driftwood.  I'm thinking I should have gotten some driftwood tbh. That is a very small league though, and it may well not hurt me that bad there.

I was hoping for a few more attempts, and he didn't look bad early on, he has some rapport with Kessler.

But then the entire offense took a ####, and they started playing their patented "Cleveland quarterback roulette"* . I'm surprised they didn't chuck some pads on Johnny Manziel out in the stands and have him toss a few INTs while they were at it.

As high as I am on Coleman, I won't feel decent about rolling him out unless the offense stabilizes a bit. I am a bit of a closet Cleveland fan, I always liked underdogs. But they have looked bleak for so long, its like they are the joke of the league.

I think the hiring of Hue Jackson tends to indicate they have a bit of a long term plan.  But that plan had better include shoring up some defensive holes and getting a QB that can actually get Coleman the ball and carry himself like a professional football player.

They just have so many issues there, its not something that can be fixed in a season or two, it might take 3-4 years.

I don't know if I will live long enough  to see the Browns ever win a super bowl (I'm 45 :) ) but if there ever was a group of fans that deserved a SB win, its Cleveland.

That was just cruel last night. 2 grabs for 20 yds on opening drive... Then 1 more for -3 yds rest of night.

Cleveland couldn't even move it in garbage time. Not sure exactly why the QB switch, but that just took it from awful to unwatchable.

The Ravens D is a legit top 5 group this year. Bad matchup and a short week. Pryor is banged up and both Cleveland QB's were under fire all night. Welcome to Thursday night football.

Hue said he made the switch to see if he can light a fire into his team.

Didnt work!

I left him on my bench but that was because I have 4 really good WRs to start ahead of him.  I may need him for a bye week coming up though so I 'm hoping to see something from him.  Was really hoping to see some great games so I could trade him for a RB.

Ugh, started him over Michael Thomas at Denver since only AJ Green and Benjamin have had over 13 points in PPR (15 and 21). Best scores are 13, 15, and 21 all with TDs, so no TD, not much in PPR. I figured Coleman was safe because I didn't expect Thomas to have a big game. Even without Talib last week they held Cooper to 11 and Crabtree to 4. Now, I wishI just rolled the dice with Thomas. 4 points ain't going to cut it. He basically had a 0 after the first drive.

Enjoy Cleveland fans, your team is a mess. It's going to be a long, long time before you guys are in the playoffs. It reminds me of the 76ers and their lose for the draft strategy. Year 4 of the 76ers lose for draft picks mode and they are 0-7 and don't look like they have any chance to be good soon.

Why say that #### to Cleveland fans? They are well aware of how their team is. I think they have some good players on their team now, and with a good QB and a few other upgrades, they can improve a lot sooner versus later.

I'll be holding
That's all you can do. You aren't going to much for him at this point and he has the potential to turn it around next year. My concern is that he's not going to be the teams #1WR. So Cleveland is going to have to improve mightily to make him matter for Fantasy.

Well that was an utterly terrible decision.

Also they're at home in New Orleans, on the fast turf, and Denver's defense / secondary are an injury riddled mess right now, making an already poor choice even worse.

and you thought that would be the opportune time to put down the Browns?

It's called being upset about Coleman's performance and his QB's ineptitude and the coaches clearly going for the #1 overall pick instead of trying to win. Seriously? It's a message board dude, if any Cleveland fans really got offended then dear lord, get a life.

LOL, no it wasn't. Oakland beat Denver with Talib out last week. It was in Oakland. Cooper and Crabtree combined for 15 PPR points. 11 for Cooper and 5 for Crabtree. Baltimore has given up 70% more PPR points to WRs than Denver. The best PPR games of the year against Denver were Travis Benjamin with 13, AJ Green with 15 and Kelvin Benjamin with 21. Two of them had TDs. If you didn't score a TD (very rare) as a WR against Denver, the best you scored was 11 PPR points unless you are AJ Green.

Coleman was 3-41 last week on 7 targets in a game where Dallas dominated in TOP. He had 2-20 on the first drive last night. He got 1 target in the 2nd quarter, 1 target in the 3rd quarter and 1 target in the 4th quarter.

I wasn't expecting Hue to give up down 13-7 and put McCown in to lose. Sorry, but I don't care that I put down the Browns. I don't like teams that give up and try to lose. They take out a rookie who's doing OK, not turning the ball over and proceed to have him sit and watch while McCown throws 2 INTs and fumbles twice, losing one. I'm sorry, but if you are a Browns fan, you should be pissed after last night as well. Don't want to try and win a game you are winning at half-time? That's pathetic. Unfortunately, I didn't think that was Hue Jackson's style, so I put Coleman in over Thomas.

ETA: Also, as an FYI, FBG's PPR projections had Thomas at 8.8 and Coleman at 7.5. I took the upside of a TD for Coleman based on the fact that Denver has given up 2 WR TDs this year and Baltimore has given up 14.

Thomas has been a borderline WR1 for weeks and has the become the favorite red zone target of the best QB in fantasy football (and one of the best in football) throwing to him, at home (not at Denver as you believed) on turf where he always has monster games, even against tougher defenses (he torched KC at home this year and KC had a better secondary than DEN does right now)

...and you started a guy who's coming off a broken hand with a rookie QB who can't throw deep on a team with a terrible OL in a matchup they've been dominated in recent history.

You're right - great call. Whatever was I thinking. I'd like to nominate you for fantasy coach of the year.

I like Coleman and his upside but I'd have to agree that starting him over Thomas is a bad idea with what we know this season.  Regardless if Thomas has a poor game this week or not I think he would always be the better start over Coleman.  Thomas is becoming the WR1 in NO.  I have high hopes for Coleman but he's on my bench until I see him have a good game again.

To me, Josh McCown looked woefully unprepared. Maybe it was due to the short week, knew he wasn't starting, lack of reps, whatever... he came off as having no idea what was happening around him. Flat-footed in the pocket, laser-locked onto Pryor, and his last two passes batted back in his face. It felt like he decided to take the week off and came down with a case of the oh####'s once thrust into action.

Lol. Sorry you are one of the butt hurt Cleveland fans. Of course it's a bad call now because it'll be hard for Thomas to not beat 4 points. Pretty easy to say that but Thomas wasn't ranked highly this week. He's also played better on the road. His two best games of the year are on the road so not sure where his monster home games are. He's big with good hands, he's not a speed guy who can take more advantage of the turf. Love you bashing me but not really knowing much about the matchup (2 TDs all year to WRs versus 14 for Baltimore) or that his two monster games were on the road.

Also, love the analysis that KCs secondary is better than Denver. Even without Talib they held Cooper and Crabtree to 15 total PPR points and have still only given up 2 total TDs to WRs all year. KC gave up 4 TDs in the last three games to Allen Robinson who's been so good this year, Moncrief just coming off weeks of injury, Brandin Cooks and Brandon Coleman. Thomas had 10-130 three weeks ago against your vaunted KC secondary. Heck last 5 weeks KC has given up 9 WR TDs. Still think they're better than the #1 D against WRs?

Oh well, I'm smart enough to know I was wrong, but I wasn't anticipating the coach waving the white flag down 6.

You know the saying "Always start your studs?"  I think Thomas should have been thought of when deciding between him and Coleman.  I just think Thomas would have been the start over Coleman regardless.  It would be the same as me starting Coleman over DT this weekend.  No way I'm starting Coleman over him until I see him put up some big numbers again.

Just for reference, Michael Thomas has actually scored slightly more than DT so it's a very similar comparison.
