Thanks, the money isn’t really the issue for me, but a lot of the guys that work for me would hear that and not be willing to take the 250 or 500 hit.
Forget that Blue Cross and HR were quick to send messages that no charges would be generated from Covid to employees. It is more likely that one of my guys decides not to get tested, comes back into my DC and gets a dozen more people sick if they don’t know insurance will cover the test.
Not to get too political, but this virus needs to lead to a health care overhaul.

It never was. When it was hot it had about the same efficacy of hcq. Both fell apart. Dexa took it's spot and seems to be sort of effective

Go figure, so millions gone on snake oil. I guess I don’t keep up enough, was/is this common knowledge? Seems so from the response here & on the Reddit thread but speaking on behalf of millions of uninformed Americans, I don’t recall seeing any coverage of that. Given the amount of hype it received as the first wonder drug, you’d think there might have been a blurb in the news someplace. Thanks for the reply

Not sure if other states have this, but i use the wisconsin hospital association site for WI covid data. It is by far the best source for WI data. Compiles the data from the state and provides daily tracking of hospital beds and ICU beds. It also even updates the status of PPE for the hospitals, separated by gowns, n95, surgical, and face shields.

D Mac, I am supposed to go to the Hill Country (Boerne, Gruene and Fredricksburg) for Thanksgiving. My MIL wants the traditional family thanksgiving with 15-20 people attending here in LA and we didn't want to participate. So Wife, SIL and I are supposed to go and look at potential investment homes that we would rent until retirement time. Are these areas spiking too? I might have to cancel (and come up with another excuse for not attending MILs)DallasDMac said:

Honestly, I give the SA Mayor and County Judge TONS of credit for the way they have handled this crisis. They do all that can be done given what the Governor allows. I would say if SA is going bad, it is likely bad everywhere. But I guess all you can do is google the specific county/city you are gong to. Personally, the idea of not only traveling but then attending a large gathering is just insane to me. If the CDC and Dr. Fauci and every other viral specialist haven't convinced your wife to skip it, I think you have little hope. GL and stay safe.

I get so angry after reading this. We have known one of the main solutions to our situation is more testing and we still can’t figure it out. It is a national disgrace.
My big concern with this is that we can barely get people to wear masks, how many of them would actually quarantine/isolate if they get a positive result?

Well when you have people on their deathbeds still insisting it's a hoax, I imagine there is a fairly large percentage of our population that wouldn't believe the test results let alone the protocols that go with them.

Nah. I volunteered for this thinking I had a shot at early vax if clean. Was always a longshot. The questions on the survey made it look like they wanted people with all sorts of random ### diseases.

Middle son is very responsible and is worried about giving his grandmother Covid. It is my wife’s mother. We will be seeing her on Friday. He wanted my wife to take him to get tested. I took him and he was nervous so I got tested too.
The guy was wearing impressive PPE with a waist air exchanger. So I can’t be sure who he was but it had to be David Copperfield because he made a 7 inch swab disappear into each nostril. I think he tickled my spine.

I agree. We've known since the very beginning that easy, rapid testing would be a critically important tool in fighting this, and there's no reason we couldn't do this other than lack of state capacity -- some of it is failure of political leadership, and some is failure by our non-partisan healthcare officials.

Did you wife get tested? Based on your earlier post, she is by far the most likely one to spread the virus. I was hoping your previous post implied you were sans kids. I can't imagine a mother with children treating this so nonchalantly.

The unique sequence of events i am looking for is if any FBGs remember reading about any of them. The only one I can remember was one out of china where 13 people were infected and one died. I thought I read about one in England, but I cant seem to find it.

Got a call this afternoon. Another positive case from someone at work and the guy who called me is sick and lost all sense of taste and smell. I had exposure to him earlier in the week. I'm afraid we are going to have a full outbreak in that sales office now. I called my boss and told him I wasn't comfortable coming in and would be working from home for awhile. Oh... and I've been nasally all weekend. No other issues. The weather has been all over the place this past week and that always triggers my allergies. I told my wife if I wake up tomorrow and am still nasally I'll reach out to my doc to see if he can get me a test.Just found out that a lady who works in our sales office is hospitalized with COVID. Her niece who works in the warehouse has been sent home as a precaution. She has a boat load of health problems has battled and beaten a bunch of cancer. She was 1 month from retiring. I was talking with her a couple weeks ago about it and she was super excited to be able to spend time with her husband.
We had an outbreak at one of our other facilities early in march. Ended up losing 3 family members of coworkers. Meanwhile, our top brass has scoffed off precautions for this. Totally "Just a flu" guys. Makes no sense. Insisted that our sales staff that was working remotely return because "not everyone can work from home, so we need everyone back". Now we have to see if this turns into another outbreak. These guys work in a 20 x 30 room with like 14 people in it. They have dividers between their desks, but not much else. It's really got me bummed and pissed off at the same time.
My wife and I know 6 people between us that have died. Either directly know or 1 step away (mother, wife, etc. of a coworker). I know at least a dozen people that have had it and recovered. Meanwhile our state legislature and our governor are fighting over what powers he should have to limit. I'll go ##### about that in the PSF, but damn... This whole thing is draining and really has soured my faith in our fellow people. Can't wait for this to be over.
It's going to be a long frustrating winter...

A co-worker tested positive for COVID three weeks ago (he had worked at the office three days that week before his symptoms kicked in), and we all then had to work from home until we got tested and got the negative result. No one else at work tested positive (20 or so of us). We have been wearing masks at work since going back to the office in the spring. Had we all not been wearing masks, I am sure the odds of someone else, or all of us, testing positive would have been pretty high.
So yeah, people, wear your damn masks.

Have two more people not feeling well. So now we have 2 positive, 1 hospitalized with pnemonia, 1 sick with no taste or smell and two others not feeling well. I guess I will reach out to my doc tomorrow and see if I can get prioritized for a test. I tried CVS online and there are no openings at any of the sites near me for the next couple days.

Our 7 month old caught a daycare "cold" last week. The only pause is a parent of one of the daycare handlers tested positive 10 days (handler has tested negative and in quarantine). No fever but all the other cold symptoms. Of course he passed it on my wife and I. As a precaution I looked into getting a covid test. Earliest appt was 13 days out at two locations and this is in SF proper. JFC. Have an email out to my primary so will default to their recommendation and/or prioritization. I guess the holiday rush is over whelming test sites, but still....I thought we solved the testing bottleneck?top dog said:

Somebody in my kids daycare class just tested positive so I went to schedule a test for our family online. First timeslot I could find was 7 days out. In MN, they'll mail you a saliva test kit so I ordered those and supposedly we'll have those in two days.

Tested on 11/1 and got results on 11/4.
Scheduling the test was a nightmare - they are booking only 3 days out so all were booked. I woke up at like 4 am to use the bathroom and refreshed the tab open to their booking page so I could grab the newly added, next day of scheduling.

So here's a question for you guys. At what point do we do a shutdown? Personally, I believe we need to do this immediately.
Just speaking from local experience, people here in KC are wearing masks. Every time I need to go out, I would guess compliance to be 95% or greater. Yet the spread continues. We moved the curve last time by shutting things down.
This is just my opinion, but just wearing masks ain't cutting it.

Tested for rapid and PCR test this morning with hopes to spend Thanksgiving locally with my wife's sister's family. Both wife and I negative on rapid test and should hear on PCR in 24 hours. My sister-in law and her family are doing the same and we had all agreed to quarantine ourselves starting Friday. Had cancelled the big 20+ thanksgivng gathering that we typically host for this much smaller get together that keeps us under the NY state rules that require gatherings less then 10.
Honestly, could be better about it and not have it with anyone but feel like we are being pretty safe about it.

What do you mean by "shutdown" though? Because I don't see any kind of "stay at home" order doing much good at this point. People are over it. It'll be March all over again, except worse, IMO. Arguments over who are essential workers, more conspiracy theorists, etc. I just don't see much helping at this point other than required rapid testing everywhere, and just the small sample from this thread alone tells you we still can't even get that right. It's so frustrating and sad.

Yes, I think we're at that point and I think some places are about to institute it if they haven't already. Similar to what we did early on. It's not going to eliminate it, but it will drastically stop the spread.

The Minnesota Department of Health has said that you should get a test if you :
a) Anyone with symptoms should seek out testing immediately.
b) Anyone who was exposed to someone who tested positive for COVID-19 should get tested. (unless I personally know said person, how would I know?)
c) "Anyone who is still working at places that remain open during Dial Back, Minnesota, as part of a screening testing strategy. This includes critical infrastructure, first responders, health care, retail, schools, child care, etc.... "
Well that "C" category is pretty wide open isn't it? That reads to me like "if you're not cocooned at home, get tested". But they're not going to come out and say that.

It's difficult. People are not getting sick going "out". Shopping, exercising, etc. are very safe, since short exposures to the virus are not seeding very many infections. The people going to Wal-Mart or Kroger without a mask are not getting sick, or spreading the disease very much. It's being spread by indoor gatherings, many of them at work and many of them social gatherings. It's almost always when exposure is for an extended period. Workers are infecting each other, not customers. People are infecting their friends and families, not the guy in line at the drug store. The problem is that people feel comfortable around their friends, families and co-workers and are not behaving responsibly in those situations. Would a lockdown help with that? Maybe.
