I said to get antibodies checked... if you don't have any, you need to get vaxxed. If you still have sufficient antibodies, you don't need to get vaxxed.

That is a sound, scientifically backed approach. We have antibody tests. This isn't hard.
T and B cells are more important.

Moderna and Pfizer vaccines have a single gene from the virus. And it actually trains your body specifically to target the spike protein of the virus which the body’s natural immune response might not do. That could potentially make the vaccines more effective against most/all variants is the virus than the body’s natural immune response which could be more limited.
I get that but might and potentially.  We should know by now.

That's PART of what I said.  The full thought was "Once you're vaxxed your chances of getting covid are low with the variants we know about.  That could change in the future if we get other variants".  Nice try though.  Fishing belongs in the PSF.
You do know variants are not new.  Right.  They been there from the start.

Im pretty sure you learned this from a link i provided you. Either that or its a weird coincidence that after pages of nonsense you came in with this realization from somwhere else at the same time i went over it in these threads

It was a Lex Fridman podcast a while ago.  Who he has talking to dropped mad knowledge.  Go look.

Have you ever thought I get/find better information than you?

So why didn't you learn?
This shtick of popping in here occasionally, posting the same short rhetorical questions or statements or links to items that don't say what you think they say as if you are more in the know than others here is getting old and tired.

What is getting old is you.  You all pimp crap that wasn't true, keep changing the goal post.  Its a frigging disgrace.  I said time will tell.   Time is more and more coming to....the truth.

Sorry that I can't talk everyday.  I got something called a job.  If you are fortunate enough to have a job that let's focus on this thread.  More power to you. I remember those days.

So the mix and match boosters...

I was I infected, got two doses of Moderna and can get a booster in November.  I'm leaning J&J, more variety is better? I welcome thoughts from all.

Same boat, but I want a Moderna booster. Seems that Moderna "won" the Best In Show for the initial set of vaccines, and I'm happy to stick with more of the same. Kinda wish the Moderna booster was the full 100 micrograms, though, instead of the 50 mcg.

Team Moderna (7 1/2 months out from last dose) with no natural infection super immunity, however I do like the idea of a variety in vaccine types.

I'm in a low risk job and low-ish risk lifestyle. My main concern is a breakthrough case potentially spreading to my 10 year old, but that looks to be finally resolved in a few weeks (by the time the booster would take hold).

It's great to have options (including deciding it's not needed at this time).
The local news reported a NIH study, that has not been peer reviewed, suggests Moderna boosters for everyone regardless of which vaccine they first received.

There were a lot of bullies in this thread that attacked any discussion that did align with their own.  You should all be ashamed of yourself.

As I said a year ago.  The truth will come out in the end.

Not sure what point you're trying to make. This is the gist of your link.

Authorities in China cancelled hundreds of flights, closed schools and ramped up mass testing on Thursday to try and stamp out a new Covid-19 outbreak linked to a group of tourists.
Reports confirm that nearly 60% of flights to two of China's major airports - Xi'an and Lanzhou - are temporarily suspended.

Further, Chinese authorities have announced mass Covid testing and shutdown of tourist locations, entertainment and amusement sites, and affected zones. Local media agencies have reported that residential complexes and housing societies may witness stringent lockdowns, especially in Lanzhou with a 4 million population.

You guys are so lucky that you got jabbed. It's like you are now superman. CNN clownshow: (CNN)People who got Covid-19 vaccines were not only less likely to die from the virus, but they were less likely to die from any cause over the following months, researchers reported Friday.  🤣🤣🤣  Simply a pathetic lie to try and get some sheeple jabbed.

https://edition.cnn.com/2021/10/22/health/covid-vaccines-death-rates/index.html

"In fact, it shows that people vaccinated for COVID-19 had lower death rates than those who were not vaccinated, even when COVID deaths were excluded. 🤣  SCIENCE 🤣

Well wouldn't it stand to reason that people taking more preventative health precautions in one area would in another as well?

Some of the anti vaxxer rally folks don't appear to be model specimens of health.

And sheeple is one of the most dismissive divisive terms developed over the last few years. Instant conversation stopper for me.

Exactly this.  Not exactly rocket science.

Your post would have been even more compelling if you slipped in the words "alpha, beta and cuck".

Missed opportunity, better luck next time.

Signed up to get my booster on Monday at Sam's club. They asked what shot you had so I'm assuming it will be Moderna, but I don't care either way.
Received the booster today. Sams was a little discombobulated in the process. Even though I had a confirmation email with my 5pm appt, they didn't have it in their system. No worries though, just fill out these forms. Tech asked if I was getting the Moderna since that was what I had before. Was my choice if I wanted to go Pfizer or Moderna. Told him since I hadn't died from the Moderna shots or COVID yet, let's go with what seemed to work so far.

I asked them about my Dad who is overdue for a booster. He got his at a local drug store but hasn't gotten the email back saying he's ready for the booster (even though he confirmed online he wanted one). They said anyone can use their pharmacy.  Don't have to be a member. "Bring him on up". FYI in case anyone is having any issues finding it at their local drug store or whatever...

My family has been so careful throughout this whole thing--mainly because of my compromised health. We are vaccinated and mask up everywhere.

Friday night my 17 year old came home from school with diarrhea and sniffles. Told her to just get some sleep and watch herself. Late Saturday, I start it, but, in addition,  I have a headache, cough and ear ringing (very odd) along with it.   My daughter went to school today because she felt a lot better and was worried about missing a big test. i began to feel worse as the day went on and did a rapid at home test. It came back positive.  I went and immediately pulled my daughter out of school and we both got a Covid test and now are in a holding pattern for 24-72 hours until we get the results.

She said one of her good friend's family just found out today they are all positive. So that may be the smoking gun here.

I feel terrible. I am freezing, but no fever. Coughing and just exhausted. I am hoping it is just a bad cold/flu type thing. My daughter is isolated in her room and I am isolated in the computer room with my wife running back and forth leaving food/drink outside our doors.  :)

Crossing fingers--I was planning on getting my booster on Friday....

Hope you get better soon with no long term crap to deal with.

so just hit 6 months post moderna.   I just turned 50.  Other than my BMI having me overweight i'm not sure im rushing out for a booster

Why?  Just curious.  I was going to wait a little longer, but we were at Rite Aid and the pharmacist was like it's time if you want it.  Took 2 mins so what the hell.  Moderna again, btw.

Well since 2 weeks ago, I was in the category that didn't "need one" right now, and my slight  overweightness is my only condition, I'm in no rush to take off work and most likely feel like #### for a day ( I did on shot 2). Numbers are coming way down in my area.

It’s likely more than that. We’ve known about increased mortality from heart disease and stroke in people who’ve recovered from the flu, for example, and covid has even more potential for persistent organ damage post infection. And flu shots mitigate those risks, so it’s not a stretch to believe covid vaccination would have salutary effects above and beyond preventing infection.

Agree about sheeple, and always find it ironic that people less engaged in critical thinking are so prone to identifying others as a mindless flock.

I got mine because it seems like the 3-4 week gap between the first 2 doses of Pfizer/Moderna was likely too short, and the booster will really solidify immunity, both today and in the medium/longer term.  I have no expertise in this, it's just what I've read in various places.

Hope you have a swift recovery.

Was your daughter around the friend a lot?

My general recommendation for the boosters. If you got J&J get Moderna or Pfizer. If you got Moderna or Pfizer, get the mRNA of your choice. Moderna was higher for J&J booster but that was also a full dose and you’ll receive half a dose for the booster. There’s little benefit to getting the J&J as your booster.

My belief is that Moderna and Pfizer are pretty equal. Moderna performed better (and caused more side effects) because of the higher dose. I think with the lower booster dose, I think to two will balance out. I’m interested to see how the side effects on the Moderna booster are. We just started giving them Friday so I haven’t had much feedback, but my guess would be minor side effects for most.

I had no side effects other than sore arm after shot #1 of Moderna. Shot #2 I was pretty tired and sore the next day, was fine the following day. Less of a sore arm than the first shot. Got the booster yesterday, sore arm comparable to shot #2. Had some minor body aches last night around 9:30. Took a couple ibuprofen. All good today.

This is a good breakdown. Well said.

My full dose (100mcg) Moderna booster was probably the least-impactful (side effect wise) for me... of the 3 shots. I've read from lots of others that seems to be common.

In wholly unscientific analysis, I don't THINK side effects are a big concern with boosters unless perhaps if you're going from J&J to mRNA (pure speculation).

Excellent question here.

This claim is ironic given given how terribly off base many of Cav's posts have been over the duration of this event.

That would be my thought too. There hasn’t been any pattern for side effects with Pfizer so far. I’ll probably be doing a large booster clinic for previous J&J that will probably go with Moderna. I’ve got several friends in that group that I’m sure I’ll hear about it if they get side effects.

Curious on that. I understood initial Moderna is 3x Pfizer, and Moderna booster is a half dose... which would still be higher than Pfizer, right?

https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.cnbc.com/amp/2021/10/22/mix-and-match-covid-booster-shots-explained-pfizer-moderna-and-jj.html

Pfizer and J&J's boosters have the same dosages as their original vaccine regimens: 30 micrograms and 0.5 milliliters, respectively. Moderna's booster is 50 micrograms per shot, which is half the dosage of its original 100-microgram vaccines.

Same exact thing for me back in March/April. That Moderna Shot #2 fatigue was delayed almost 24 hours from the time I got that second shot ... kinda weird. I'm hoping to have the same "no biggie" response to the Moderna booster that you did.
