I like the Pats because they are such a 'no-star' team...but things like this are why I always find myself rooting against them.Pats Pats fans
Hi WH,Actually, I think that's a fair reason to pull for or against a team. If everyone you come into contact with a particular team is a whiny tool, then yeah, I pull against them. Works for me.JBlah, blah, blah.If you are letting FANS dictate your opinion of a football team, I know a bookie who'd LOVE to talk to you...

His ears must still be ringing from all that crybaby whining Zach Piller did last week.Wow, i think Joe just called Patriot fans "Whiny tools".
I guess I'll cancel my subsciption next year if you lump all the Pats fans together as whiny.Hi WH,Actually, I think that's a fair reason to pull for or against a team. 1. If there were any doubts about sending in my $20 for next year, this just erased them. 2. All kidding aside, NE is excellent at what they do. This is a team that is built around the short passing game. It's boring and kind of hideously ugly to watch, but still this team can convert 3rd and 4 over and over again because that's what it's designed to do. Yeah, the Indy defense isn't very good, but NE has made a living off of this offensive game plan for 3 years now. Their coaching staff deserves all the credit they get for moulding an offensive game plan to their personnel. (Speaking as a Bills fan, I can personally attest that many coaching staffs fail miserably in this regard). Add that to a defense that is both well-coached and extremely talented (those first two ints were things of beauty for the defense as opposed to manisfestly bad plays by Manning), and you have a very sound team. 3. Of course, Tom Brady did go out of his way to try to hand the game back to Indy. Lucky for him that his defense was there for him.Hi WH,Actually, I think that's a fair reason to pull for or against a team. Thor, wouldn't you be a tool for doing that. You know horse, I think your confusing those who were hoping the Colts would win with doubting the Pats. I hoped the Colts would win, I thought they had a chance. But in stating it the way I did I think it was obvious I considered the Pats the most likely winner.Sheeeesh.Purge yourself of your ignorance here. No reasonable mea culpas will be looked down upon.
Now HB,I never named the Pats fans there. Be nice... JWow, i think Joe just called Patriot fans "Whiny tools".
exactly..who the hell was doubting them?Like almost everyone here, I've seen the Pats as the best team in the NFL and the favorite to win the Super Bowl.I'm not sure to whom this post is referencing. Do Pats fans want everyone to acknowledge this as the greatest team of all time or something?
Hi SS,Pretty much, yeah. If you don't do this, you're "dis respecting" them.JDo Pats fans want everyone to acknowledge this as the greatest team of all time or something?

That's utter crap Joe and I'm surprised to see you egging this on. So much for being good to each other, huh?On the other hand, it might be refreshing once in a while to have someone give a team some props for a good performance rather than whine about how they won due to bad officiating or luck. to Johnny U.Hi SS,Pretty much, yeah. If you don't do this, you're "dis respecting" them.J
Joe...Highly unimpressed..... Lame move. There are a TON of Pats fans on this board who have managed to stay OUT of the half dozen threads started by (primarily) Pats haters..... I'd have to say that the haters have been FAR more whiny than the fans in this case....your biases are showing through here man....take off the titan's tinted glasses and look at what has been being said on your board....frankly I've seen FAR more commentary that could be construed as "whiny" coming from the haters than the Pats fans........and making sweeping generalizations about a fan base considering that most of the dyed-in-the-wool fans (ie those of us who were born near foxboro) have been pretty quiet through most of the BS that has been going on in the shark pool over the last few weeks.... Not that you care but my opinion of you as a fairly unbiased board-head has taken a hit with this comment...with all due respect but that's just lame lame lame.Hi WH,Actually, I think that's a fair reason to pull for or against a team. I find this interesting. What sort of "props" are necessary? Do we need to go out and say that was an amazing performance by the team, or something like that?Particularly with the Pats' 2 playoff games thus far, there hasn't really been a performance. They certainly seemed to make today's game closer than it really was, and they certainly didn't dominate the Titans. They won them both, which shows they're a very good championship-caliber team. No question about that. If they win the championship, they'll deserve it. And no one can take that away from them. But (ain't it inevitable, there's always a "but"), you simply can't expect everyone to think this is a truly dominant top 10 team of all time. Feel free to believe it if you'd like, but don't force that belief on others. On the other hand, it might be refreshing once in a while to have someone give a team some props for a good performance rather than whine about how they won due to bad officiating or luck. to Johnny U.
What a bunch of BS!I just get back from the game and the 1st thread I see is Joe labelling all the Pats fans he comes into contact with as whiney.Do u live in a closet Joe?I don't know what ur problem is with NE and don't care at this point, u will never get another dime of my money. I thought u were a pro but u r anything but. I am sure u could care less about the opinion of Pats fans (other than the 1's on ur payroll) but u r truly a piece of workHi SS,Pretty much, yeah. If you don't do this, you're "dis respecting" them.J
Please point out where the bulk of Pats fans were calling for the team to be dubbed one of the top 10 of al time? I'm tired of all this BS..... lame sportsmanshipI find this interesting. What sort of "props" are necessary? Good point here. It's a shame that's what we do, but unfortunately the loud fans are the ones we can hear. It's the same sort of thing with Philadelphia as being "mean".Most fans of teams are .I wonder how many Patriot fans total are whiney and annoying here, compared to the ones that aren't. I've lived in Boston for 20 years and am a Pats fan, and like all the other ones I know, we aren't annoying and whiney.GB being judged by the actions of a few.
Agreed..... THere might have been one or two Pats fans that have been running at the mouth here...but I'd be willing to bet that for every whiny pats fan there has been a sore loser fan of another team..... GDB lame sportsmanship and unjust mass generalizations Regardless...I'm done commenting on the lameasses in here making homeristic comments.... The Pats have a very tough SB game against a tough squad (if it's Carolina )..... IF they pull it off, then we'll talk...until then, kudos to the Pats on their 14 game winning streak.I wonder how many Patriot fans total are whiney and annoying here, compared to the ones that aren't. I suppose no one said that specifically. Good point. However, I don't think that makes the points any less valid. It's a general point. I'm not a Pats fan or a Pats hater. I'm trying to be an objective voice here.,Jan 18 2004, 10:34 PM] Please point out where the bulk of Pats fans were calling for the team to be dubbed one of the top 10 of al time?

How 'bout a simple "good game Pats."I find this interesting. What sort of "props" are necessary? Simple enough. Consider it done! After all, that's the best way to express our true thoughts on a game. How 'bout a simple "good game Pats."
NO, that would be TOO much to ask for....... Much better to insult and villify the fans of NE.After all there are fans from 30 other teams who can all pile on.How 'bout a simple "good game Pats."I find this interesting. What sort of "props" are necessary? What, the Cardinals don't count anymore? After all there are fans from 30 other teams who can all pile on.
I have many other thoughts on this, yet I'd surely be accused of whining somehow. What was that old saw, "if you can't say something good about someone, say nothing at all."Simple enough. Consider it done! After all, that's the best way to express our true thoughts on a game.
Serious question here:What all that I've said has actually been offensive to Pats fans?I'm seriously wondering. I thought the revelation that I've been in the exact same situation in 1997 would have shown that I really understand what Pats fans were feeling in 2001 and again now.You may notice that I've never demeaned what this or that Patriots team can do.I don't hate the Patriots. I actually really like the team, its approach, its leaders, and its attitude.I honestly thought I was bringing some objective views to this board, since there are a lot of Pats haters out there. Please let me know where I went wrong.I have many other thoughts on this, yet I'd surely be accused of whining somehow. I don't think the problem lies with u surf as much as other no nothings who may be in a more powerful position than you are.I am not speaking of any1 in particular thoughSerious question here:What all that I've said has actually been offensive to Pats fans?I'm seriously wondering. whine, whine, whine....Hey Joe one of the lamest posts I've come across on this board....and by a 'moderator' none the less. Why don't you practice what you preach and show a little class......I don't generalize people over the comments of a select few so why don't you get your head out of your ###and do the same???
All true and good points.I think I was referring to the "dynasty" threads more than anything in those particular comments.Anyway, good luck to the Pats. Gotta represent for the AFC!Surf,I think it stems from other page 1 comments by Joe and others rather than from you in particular. However, you did wonder if all Pats fans felt a need to have their team proclaimed the best of all time or something, or if they deserved any props at all because they haven't anyone. I happen to think that winning the game is reason enough for a simple .
ain't bitin' S.K.A..........like the effort thoughwhine, whine, whine....Hey Joe one of the lamest posts I've come across on this board....and by a 'moderator' none the less. Why don't you practice what you preach and show a little class......I don't generalize people over the comments of a select few so why don't you get your head out of your ###and do the same???

Joe, there were all of three people here who said anything like this. And two of them were anti-Pats fans who were just baiting everyone. Didn't think you of all people would bite the hook.Pretty classless, Joe. But I guess I'm just a whiny tool.Hi SS,Pretty much, yeah. If you don't do this, you're "dis respecting" them.J
