Anyone catch this last night? I thought it was fantastic. Very good acting and the premise is pretty sick. About a good guy serial killer (kills dregs of society) who works on the forensic team in Miami. He analyzes blood splatter left at crime scenes....meanwhile he totally lives for killing and everything that is killing. THe show goes into first person mode a lot. Basically gets into Dexter's head while he's at the crime scene or in social situations. The season is going to be about another serial killer toying with Dexter because he knows what Dexter really is and knows his past. Check it out......good stuff:

I watched it. Pretty good, I thought it would be more like CSI, and was kind of refreshing that it wasn't your sterotypical Crime Scene show. If it stays away from too much of a hokey plot I think it can be really good.

It's so great how Dexter seems so normal and tries to be normal but on the inside he doesn't understand society and general feelings. I love the fact that everyone seems to love him with the excpetion of the Sargeant, who was the worst actor of the bunch IMO. The season previews after the show seemed anything but hokey. The line by Dexter at the end was fantastic after the other serial killer broke into Dexters apartment and left him a message, it was something along the lines of "I should be angry, but I want to play, I so really do."

Talking to gf on the phone in the middle of carving up some loser? nice touch.

 
This is definitely my kind of show.

Have to agree that the Sgt is a terrible actor but definitely a necessary part of the show...gotta have someone who keeps Dex on his toes.

As for the serial killer...as soon as the truck drove by him I knew it was on purpose...the killer sought him out and wants to toy with him.

I wouldn't be surprised to find out that whatever happened to Dex as a child that broke him...involved this serial killer who is now toying with him.

I found it odd though how he was talking about how he has no real sexual urges...but then was surprised about how he grabbed the inside of Rita's leg just after finding another cut up body. For anyone who's been doing this kinda stuff this long...this can't be the first time he's gotten a woody over some twisted stuff...but I guess it was necessary for the audience to hear how detached he is emotionally and sexually...but then show how these types of murders can motivate him. I just felt it unnecessary.

It will be kinda neat however to watch how Dex evolved...as I'm assuming that's what the serial killer will be showing us as he re-enacts some of Dex' previous exploits.

I saw this scene a bit differently. I didn't see him as grabbing her "there" If you look at the scene just prior, the upper part of the left leg that was hacked was half bone. I saw this as him grabbing her upper thigh because of the leg/bone being on his mind. She thought it was sexual, but I thought it was disturbing. Very subtle IMO.ETA: He looks completely shocked when he realizes where his hand is.

I agree with you and he does look shocked, he was even like "Why did I grab her like that?" In the coming attractions she's on her knees wanting to give him oral and he is just like "What are you doing?. Jeez buddy, your in for a treat! Haha. He actually likes her though, it's going to be interesting to see how he proceeds with the physical relationship with her.
 
Watched it for the first time last week...Getting ready to watch the new episode now. Solid show from what I saw last week. Ill give it a shot.

ETA: Same episode as last week. I guess it comes on Sundays or something.

Dexter's not good - it's great.

It's better than great.

It is easily my favorite new series - and is rapidly moving up to the level of Lost/The Wire/Deadwood/The Shield.

Better than Weeds, which I don't find particularly intelligent, but very entertaining. The Brotherhood is crap on a stick - worst R.I. accents EVAH!

Dexter - alone - might force me to keep Showtime.

New one was on tonight - I think it premiered when Weeds premiered (Tuesday, I think)
 
Total fluke that I saw part of this last night. There's not one show on TV I regularly watch, but anyway, one part I saw was when he's watching a movie with his crying date or whoever...and he thinks it's the right time to go down on her.

So with a quick peck on the neck he drops to his knees and tries to climb up her skirt. :lmao:

 
if i have to hear dexter explain why hes different or that he has nothing inside one more time...im going to kill somebody.

I thought about that as well, but where are the lozenges and the hacking cough? I suppose that could be an act put on for the security guard, though. Amputee specialist is pretty much a perfect day job for the ice truck killer, although it doesn't necessarily fit how he found out about Dexter.Time will tell, I suppose.

After getting into Weeds on InDemand, I decided to venture to Dexter on Sunday night. Watched episode 1, then immediately watched episode 2. Caught two more Monday night and two more last night, so I'm thru episode 6 right now.

Solid show! :thumbup: I'm glad I finally convinced myself to give it a shot.

I think there is 7-9 left on InDemand. When will new episodes of Dexter air, or do we not know?

Love this InDemand stuff, especially when you don't get any of those channels. Unsure if this is a well known cheat that I have. :ph34r:

Bump to see what other people thought of the season finale. I have to go back and re watch due to the chargers game, I mean LT show. From what I saw, it was an intense ending.....

I enjoyed the finale and the whole series. Lot of nice twists and adequate closer for a finale. And the best part is.... there will be a season II!

Sept 30I have watched the complete first season on SHO on Demand over the past few weeks. I think this show is great. I am looking forward to the second season.

Ya, and I think Time Warner is running a free preview of Showtime that weekend too (since the goldmine Adelphia/TW cheat hasn't worked in a long time). So I'll catch the first one, then have to head elsewhere to watch the rest.

I thought the first episode of season 2 was quite good. I was wondering at the end of last season how the show would fare without the Ice Truck Killer, who was so integral to the season 1 storyline, but it looks like they've set up a number of very good possibilities for season 2. That gang dude was f'n enormous, too.

 
Dexter is a huge secret that almost no one I know watches. Season 2 started off with a bang. Can't wait for next week. What is it with Dexters sister? She's hot & annoying at the same time

 
Grat show, setup for a great season. When they showed all the bags at the bottom of the ocean I was like "Wow, he's been busy".

 
Nice to see some people have revisited this "lack of a" thread. This show is fantastic. Best show on TV in my opinion...next to Lost. Dexter is such an amazing character.....Michael C Hall is perfect. Actually, the show is cast perfectly...how about that car salesman, he was great....what a con artist. And Lundy was cast perfect as well.....there isn't one person on the show who I think is terrible. I was a little skeptical of Dokes last season, but I like him this year. Love the "And by the way, you owe me a new Michellin Mother F'er!".

The whole NA angle, how Dexter can actually talk about his "addiction" without anyone really knowing what he is talking about. How about when he was having coffee with the ugly hottie. I say ugly hottie, because she looks hot, but then when there is a close up of her her teeth remind me of Alien and her face is like a cross between a fish and a horse. I digress, when she said to Dexter something along the lines of "what you have done can't be as worse the what the rest of us have done"......Yeah right! It's great how he can blend in normally and then have these absurd serial killer type thoughts. It's brilliant.

Anyway, 10 bucks Morgan figures out it's Dexter that is the serial killer and winds up protecting him...i.e., throwing out some piece of evidence or such....

 
One of my favorites shows on TV right now. The writing is incredible. Last week's scene with Dexter and Doakes was awesome.

Not to mention Rita is hot.
