I added the 3rd choice for those who think it will be cute to post that, but honestly interested to see if you guys think he returns. After last year, he had a fantastic year and his physical skills were still there. This year, I think the decline is finally there. I don't think that Favre will return if he thinks he can't compete at that elite level and I think that's the case after watching him this year. I don't think there's any way he returns to play in 2009.

He was a dropped pass away from winning last week. That said, he's always been erradic, and is leaning more towards bad throws than good this year.

I guess he could come back if he worked all offseason to stay in shape.

But the guy is 39...and it is starting to show.

Last year appeared to be the right time to stay retired. I wish he would have.

They did win last week. They were a "hold onto the ball Losman" away from losing last week though.

Last week = Yesterday's games IMO
Umm...ok, I don't see it as last week, since this week of the season is not even over yet.Well...they lost by 10. So no, one dropped pass is not good enough.Oh...and if they can't put up more than 3 against Seattle, they don't deserve to have the "one dropped pass away" comment IMO.

Wow. You really are dense, aren't you? They lost by 10 because the dropped pass on 4th down gave Seattle the ball inside the Jets 20, allowing them to get a gimme FG at the end of the game. Use you head and think about it. Having said that, it is time for Favre to finally retire. He clearly does not like playing in cold weather anymore, probably because of old age.

So the dropped pass...gave them a gimmee FG to still win by 10 rather than 7.So how were they just a dropped pass away from "winning"?They were more than 1 dropped pass away is the point.

Just glad the Packers will not be waiting on his decision.

If he does retire will the Packers and he go through the farce so many do of resigning him so that he can retire as a Packer? I believe so.

I hope so...but he may wait til TT is gone before doing any ceremony.I have no idea.

IMHO, Favre isn't going to stay retired until he is no longer offered a contract.

Did you watch the game? Did you know how it ended?Perfect example of what I've said about field position and the offense giving up the ball. Stupid move by the coaching staff but the score does not tell the whole story. Maybe you should have looked at the box scores to have at least a little insight.

If the shoe was on your foot you would have made the same arguement. You do things like that all the time.

Damn

If they did resign him for the purpose of him retiring as a Packer, I can see Favre saying ok to that, and then at the start of the next training camp he will say that he still wants to play. That would be a hoot.

I think it should be obvious that sho nuff's comment is just taking issue with the assertion that the Jets were "a dropped pass away from winning last week." Its an erroneous comment as that one play would not have necessarily won the game for the Jets. While it is rare that one player or one play can win or lose a football game, it is beyond question that Favre had a terrible game yesterday (after a great start), and that contributed to the loss.I hope Favre retires after this season and that we see him at Lambeau next year when we put #4 up on the wall next to 3, 14, 15, 66 and 92. I think fans can now see that Thompson and Murphy were sincere last summer when they spoke of preserving Favre's "legacy" with the fans in Green Bay. The fact that they've kept quiet and allowed the media storm to pass by without comment has in my opion allowed that to still be a reality. I expect Favre will retire and, by this time next year, will be working for the Packers under a lucrative marketing contract. I don't expect to see him in Green Bay on the sidelines very often (like Magic, who seems to be at just about every home game), but do expect him to be part of the organization for a long time.

Yes. After 17 seasons and 4 FFL championships, all that is left is the name FavreCo. His final week is next week. The new leader is Matt Ryan. Favre will stay on as assistant coach and QB coach.

Or do you mean in the NFL? No one knows.

They lost by 10 points.I have yet to watch the whole thing...I did follow some of it on nfl live on my phone. But that dropped pass may have kept them from going down to tie...but no, they were not a dropped pass away from winning as they were down by 7 points at the time.and scoring 3 points against that team is a prime example of a team that does not deserve to play the "we were one dropped pass away".Maybe I should look at box scores to have some insight?Maybe you should quit looking at box scores and watch games and pay attention to other things than just box scores.I looked at the box score...it shows 3 points for the Jets against a bad offense. It showed Seneca Wallace with all day to throw with 5 2nd stringers (at best) blocking for him.As I said before this game about the Jets...both Favre and that D better improve if they want to make the playoffs.Neither really have.

Are both of you following me around now? Good gosh.and no, I would not have made such a statement. There is a difference between saying something completely factual like (had Crosby hit the FG against Minny they would have won). That is true. Saying they were a dropped pass away from winning (which is factually incorrect as it is) is not even close to the same.Because they were down 7 at the time of the dropped pass. They may have been a dropped pass away from a chance to tie...but not from winning. So get over it.
