This is that "Fake news" everyone is talking about - isn't it?

How the #### would anyone know of Putin's personal motives - assuming he was directly involved?  I can buy that he wanted it done, and directed his people to make it happen.  But, I just can't see him directing the specifics of how/what was released and when.  This feels more like counter-propaganda than anything likely to be true.
It's NBC news. What did you expect?

Didn't see this one coming. Next you're going to tell me that it wasn't a trump supporter who burned down the black church in the swing state of NC and spray painted "vote trump" on the wall.
Too bad the reports (and video) of Trump, our PEOTUS,  imitating and making fun of a disabled man weren't fake or false.

New York Times columnist Maureen Dowd first met Donald Trump in the 1980s, when they had coffee on the sidelines of the 1988 Republican National Convention, she told Seth Meyers on Monday's Late Night. But she also spoke with Trump by phone in 1987, before he met Mikhail Gorbachev during the Soviet leader's first visit to the United States. Before the meeting, Trump told Dowd that he was wary and suspicious of Gorbachev, but after Gorbachev told Trump he loved Trump Tower and wanted one in Moscow, she said, Trump was effusive in his praise for Russia and its leader at the time.

"I think that set a template for what's happened with Putin and the Russians ever since," Dowd said. "Trump thought Putin gave him a compliment where he said he's brilliant, but it turned out to be a mistranslation." Putin really called him "colorful" or "gaudy," she explained. "So Trump has forced the Republicans to change their whole stance toward the Evil Empire based on a mistranslation."

House Intelligence Committee asks for a briefing and the intelligence orgs refuse to show up

http://www.usatoday.com/story/news/politics/onpolitics/2016/12/14/intelligence-officials-refuse-brief-house-panel-russian-hacking/95453412/

pretty pathetic.  Time to drain the Intelligence community swamp.  We need hearings on the "intelligence" that led the war in Iraq; hearings on all of the #### they are into....
Shockingly you left out this part:

However, the Office of the Director of National Intelligence said that "senior administration officials have regularly provided extensive, detailed classified and unclassified briefings to members and staff from both parties on Capitol Hill since this past summer and have continued to do so after Election Day.""Last week, the President ordered a full Intelligence Community review of foreign efforts to influence recent presidential elections — from 2008 to present," the director's office said in a statement Wednesday. "Once the review is complete in the coming weeks, the Intelligence Community stands ready to brief Congress — and will make those findings available to the public consistent with protecting intelligence sources and methods. We will not offer any comment until the review is complete."

They wouldn't. You have a couple people in one intelligence organization anonymously expressing their opinion. Big whoop.

House Intelligence Committee Chairman Devin Nunes on Wednesday blasted as "unacceptable" the refusal of the FBI, CIA and National Intelligence directors to brief his panel on the Russian cyber attacks that occurred during the presidential campaign.
- It probably should be mentioned that Nunes is on the Trump transition team.

This appears to be true. The word Putin used is: "яркий".

This is what comes up in an image search of that word.

- It's 'bright,' as in colorful or flamboyant. Not (mentally) brilliant, much less 'genius' like Trump thinks or claims.

This makes the most sense.

- People keep complaining about leaks or anon sources, and the only solution to that is a declassified report. Then have the hearings.

I don't know if Catholics are trustworthy but it is an interesting read.
That site is really someting. Guy must have been axed by WaPo.

No, Trump still horrible human being. Too bad he didn't just apologize regardless and save all that arm waving and gymnastic journalism if it can even be called that.

Funny, both sides of my family are Catholic and zero share those views.

@pattonoswalt: Everyone please watch this? And share? #UniteForAmerica #SupportTheElectors

Thank you: https://youtu.be/0z0iuWh3sek

This would never happen, but it would be fascinating if it did. Trump voters would be outraged though and they would have a right to be. Probably wouldn't be great for the country either.

So while @squistion was getting his 14 hour nap before reporting to his busboy job, I was on the hill on 4 hours of sleep (my normal).

So I work with a couple of congressman and Senators on various projects, so I get to mix it up with them sometimes.  I was talking with my friend who is the Chief of Staff of a senior GOP Senator today, an awesome GOP Senator FTR, and he was giving me some dope on some of the shenanigans up there.

So there is a tram underneath the Capitol that connects it to the Hart and Cannon buildings which are the office spaces for Congressional members.  So it's a two car system with six seats on each car, so 12 total seats.  The protocol is that a Senator gets his/her own car if they are there, no one else should be able to ride in the car.  Some Senators follow strict guidelines to this protocol, and others not so much.  Bernie doesn't take the tram at all, "he looks like a lost history professor crawling the bowels of the rotunda" as my friend put it.

So after one 14 hour day, as long as a Squisy nap, my friend and his Senator left the Senate floor headed back to the Hart building.  There was his Senator, him and a legislative aide, and then another Senator came up as they boarded.  My friend's Senator is one of the ranking Senators, so he has a lot of pull.  He's also super cool and understands what aides and others do to make legislation happen.  So my friend's Senator said, "you guys come on, let's go."  The other Senator (also GOP) gets on and tells the senior Senator he doesn't want the aides on the tram, because it's "inappropriate."

Senior GOP Senator:  Inappropriate how? These guys just worked dusk until dawn to make sure we got what we needed.  Plus it's a two minute ride!

Junior GOP Senator: It's about the rules, they shouldn't be on here

Senior Senator:  They are staying, you are free to leave

Junior Senator:  I'll remember this (gets off train)

:lmao:

No wonder they can't get anything done.

So then why fail to show up for the hearing?  With so many rumors and so much speculation floating around aimed at the core of public confidence in the system, why go silent?  Why not clear the air?  Why the silence?

I don't know if this is also the cabinet thread, but I bet I'm the only FBG to have gotten three random, creepily long shoulder rubs from the Secretary of Energy.

Hooking up with dudes is his thing was always the rumor in Austin. NTTATWWT.

As someone in Austin, I may have heard these rumors.
"First i'm going to give you a shoulder massage. Then there's, uh, the unrobing. Finally, uh, ...oh hell i forget."
