My favorite political gymnastics is Trump voters who say Republican leadership basically disowning him is a good thing.  They say Trump is the outsider we need.

You can't reason with these people on any level.

Yes the NY Times often has a bias but's it not the Drudge Report.  They don't nullify each other.

How do you debate these people without coming off as "condescending?"

Election is over just would not like people I respect to vote for Trump.

Big day for Trump.  If he addresses the drug wars in Mexico and promises US will provide assistance in exchange for the wall, he may become El Presidente Trump.

I'd be surprised if Pena Nieto doesn't make a fool of Trump.  What is the political upside to make nice with a dead fish who is hated by your people?

I happened to catch his speech in Washington yesterday, and I have to admit that the tone he struck in that speech, if he had been that guy starting a year ago, would be  winning in a landslide.  I thought he hit every major theme beautifully and really sounded sincere on wanting racial unity.

im not sure how you counter balance that against the 60 billion dollar wall boondoggle or killing families of combatants or stealing Iraq's oil or his concern over the Mexican heritage of a judge or a number of other things, but the guy he was last night was a a guy that would have won easily....

Suggests Huma might have terrorist ties...
So, what he's saying is because Abedin had access to classified information, that means Weiner had access as well? Funny thing is, Trump now has access to classified information. Does that mean his wife, who comes from a former communist nation (and her dad was a commie), also has access to classified information?

Reports that he's planning to visit Mexico tomorrow morning before his speech on immigration.  :lmao:
Must be part of his new Mexican Hispanic Latino (yeah, that one) outreach.

I imagine at the new yorker they are all hi-fiving each other after borowitz submitted this but the MOMENTUM has shifted. Things are looking good for Don
I'd chip in on the gofundme to keep Donny in Mexico. The only momentum shift there is is when Donny's big ### shifts and gets him off balance.

Dems ordered not to mention " All lives matter" or "black on black crime". This is the idiocy you anti Trumpers are choosing to be in bed with. Impossible to respect a Hillary voter at this point. Just lowest of the low.

What are you talking about? What Dems? Ordered by whom?

I do give Trump credit for going to Mexico and meeting with Nieto. Kind of a bold move given his comments.
This is like giving credit to a football team for taking more risks and throwing the ball downfield a lot when they're down 14 points in the second half.

Whatever. While Hillary is afraid of doing press conferences, Trump goes to a place where he might be hated even more than he is here.

As I predicted, with the polls tightening a little they have returned. If Trump finds a way to pull even, they will swarm this thread like locusts!

Some fairly innocuous guccifer-leaked memo about how to address BLM from the DCCC dated last November, I think.  No idea what at DCCC memo has to do with Clinton or her supporters, or how it could possibly be construed as anywhere near as awful as like 50 different things Trump has done regarding racial issues.  You'll have to ask RBM to clarify I guess.

What do you think he's gonna do down there?  Head to the corner taco stand to mix it up with the locals?  Come on.  This is about a trailing candidate desperate for publicity making a move to get some publicity and hopefully scam a few suckers into thinking this is somehow courageous.  Remember, you're praising a guy who bailed on primary debates, refused an invitation to speak at the NAACP, gave his speeches on "racial issues" in overwhelmingly white suburban locations in front of almost entirely white audiences, won't release his tax returns, and is already complaining about the scheduled debates with Clinton.

It's fair to trash Clinton for not holding press conferences, but that has no relation to this at all. When Trump actually answers a reporter's question instead of digressing and rambling incoherently, then you can compare the two, but I'm pretty sure today won't be the day.

How do you feel voting for the bigger piece of garbage in this election...
RBM on my cruise I met some New Jersey people, longtime Republicans, who will be voting for Hillary Clinton in November. They don't like her at all, but the alternative is unacceptable to them. They don't want to be associated with racism and fear. I think you ought to consider this option.

:lmao:  whatever!

I'm not going to over-analyze his motivations for doing it but I give him some props for it. You don't have to.

I think I will vote Trump this time.  I live in Oklahoma and voting for Hillary is a wasted vote.  Electoral college sucks. I want to vote for a winner.  Well state winner

I credit him for making a bigger laughingstock of himself than he already has.  How exactly does he think this is going to play out?  He's going to come back from the meeting, tell a bunch of lies, and then Nieto is going to call him out on his :bs:

You are in bed with Em and Trump...there is no idiocy matching who you are aligning yourself with

Yeah, I doubt it turns out the way he, or his handlers, hope. It has disaster written all over it.

Can't figure out the angle either. Mexicans hate both of these guys. Nieto has an even lower approval rating than Trump.

It's a general rule of politics not to enter into unpredictable situations or cede control of an event or happening to someone who wants to hurt you. President Nieto definitely does not want Donald Trump to become President. He probably assumes he won't become president, simply by reading the polls. President Nieto is himself quite unpopular at the moment. But no one is more unpopular than Donald Trump. Trump is reviled. Toadying to Trump would be extremely bad politics; standing up to him, good politics.

Put those factors together and Peña Nieto has massive and overlapping reasons to want to embarrass Trump. At a minimum since he's probably not eager to create a true international incident, he has zero interest in appearing in any way accommodating or helpful. The calculus might be different if Trump seemed likely to be the next US President. Mexico is a minor power with the world colossus on its doorstep. But a Trump presidency seems unlikely. Far likelier, Peña Nieto will need to build a relationship with Hillary Clinton. These factors combined make for an inherently dangerous political situation for Donald Trump, especially since the atmospherics of this meeting will be the backdrop for Trump's evening speech which is itself an incredibly important moment and one in which he has set for himself what is likely an impossible challenge.
