Dirty money: Trump and the Kazakh connection

FT probe finds evidence a Trump venture has links to alleged laundering network
...

A Financial Times investigation has found evidence that one Trump venture has multiple ties to an alleged international money laundering network. Title deeds, bank records and correspondence show that a Kazakh family accused of laundering hundreds of millions of stolen dollars bought luxury apartments in a Manhattan tower part-owned by Mr Trump and embarked on major business ventures with one of the tycoon’s partners.

...Jennifer Shasky Calvery, then director of the US Financial Crimes Enforcement Network, warned in January that “corrupt foreign officials, or transnational criminals, may be using premium US real estate to secretly invest millions in dirty money”

Because ordinarily this would be an election shaking report, but here in 2016 with Trump, it's the norm.

If his tweets are any indication it looks like he'll be referencing the videos (corruption), Obamacare, the "broken system" (lobbyists/DC lifers), and wikileaks emails tonight (also corruption). If I were to use wikileaks and emails as my "drink!" triggers I'll be passed out before 10.*

*that's assuming I actually watch the clown show.

Im thinking Ailes wanted Presidential Trump because he knows what he's doing and Bannon wanted primal scream Trump because he wants to win some imaginary fight. Looks like Bannon won the power struggle as Ailes very publically exited, today. I expect a lot of half ### attacks that Donald largely flubs due to his inability to prepare.

Let's keep in mind one of his stated reasons for supporting Trump is he didn't like his good friend Qaddafi being overthrown.
Not only that but he's Muslim and probably hasn't been properly vetted. Why is Trump allowing Islamic Terrorists into the debate?!

Should profile him before it's too late. Of course he is a US citizen but that never mattered toTrump before.

And really what is with these people. He called the women who accused Clinton all kinds of names and they show up for him anyway. The right has been calling Malik a terrorist for years and yet here he is. Is a few minutes of camera time really all it takes to buy these people? I guess so.

The panel of Clinton victims at the second debate were all compensated to appear.  Rumors of compensation size range from $25K to paying off the mortgage.

How awesome would it be if Trump plays the audio of the 2029 call tonight and asks Hilary what she knows about it?

(I'm trying to use this call as a joke in as many threads as possible, btw)

Trump’s Worst Positions Aren’t ‘Un-American.’ They’re Flashbacks To Our Ugly History.

Threats to jail opponents and claims of rigged elections have dangerous precedents in the U.S.

Debate Preview: Trump Looks Set to Rant to the Bitter End (whether mutual or self-preservation instinct, Ailes and Christie have both been distanced/distanced themselves from the campaign recently - wonder if Ailes fell out it scuttles/torpedoes some of the post-election Trump Network talk, as he was assumed to play a key role in any new media venture?)

Evidently, some Trump aides have bought into the cockamamie theory that if their candidate can tar Clinton enough to turn off voters in sufficient numbers, turnout on November 8th will be so low that he might just scrape home. But other Trump loyalists appear to have had just about enough. On Tuesday, New Jersey Governor Chris Christie, who has kept a low profile over the past week, publicly distanced himself from the latest iteration of Trump. Asked by Kelly O’Donnell, of NBC News, whether he was proud of Trump’s campaign, Christie replied, “The person who needs most to be concerned about the kind of campaign they’re running is the candidate. Because it’s the candidate’s campaign. It’s not my campaign.” Christie added, “I’m proud of everything I’ve said, and that’s all I can control. The rest of it I can’t control.”

Trump’s do-or-die moment

The Las Vegas debate is Trump’s last chance to put a floor underneath his free-falling campaign.

This is a reasonable question, but I can't get past the fact that a candidate actually invited these folks.  It's a disgrace to the whole country that this ####head is going to get around 40% of the vote.

Arizona is in serious play with Hillary up 5 points and he is losing Utah to a relative unknown Mormon. Heck the Democrats are even spending money in Texas. I don't think he gets to 40 overall.

Thanks for coming Don, all anyone will be talking about was that horrific answer on whether he will respect the results of the election.

He directly answered very few questions, generally did a lot of dissembling (did he ever answer whether he would leave troops in Mosul if they defeated ISIS there?). Didn't even try to deny the Clinton accusation about Chinese steel used in his construction projects.

When asked if he would accept the results of the election, contrary to the VP and his own daughter, his laughable response was that he would keep everybody in suspense. Does he think Democracy is an episode of The Apprentice? That was a bad, bad, bad answer and is going to hurt him with the general electorate (of course the hard cases will eat it up).

* I thought Chris Wallace did a phenomenal job (especially on the questions which asked BOTH candidates tough questions and seemed very fair and impartial), by far the best of the four debates, three Presidential and one VP.

His demeanor totally flipped when Hillary brought up Putin. I told my wife that she pressed his button and that the debate was going to go down hill from there. And he was a total disaster from that point on.

Another moment that Jake Tapper focused on was when Trump said of Clinton she is such a nasty woman. Let's back up, what was the context?

He interrupted her answering a question about social security, saying she would pay, and so would he, UNLESS HE COULD FIND A WAY TO GET OUT OF IT. This was obviously a dig at previous debates, clumsily, ham handedly trying to turn a negative (paying no income taxes for nearly two decades) into a positive - "It's your fault for not closing the loopholes." So ANOTHER case where Trump is implying she is being low down and underhanded in her characterization of him, yet she was merely using his own words against him. He is in such an echo chamber, he can only recognize his own words if they come from his mouth and are reverberating around inside his skull.

* #Bad Hombres trending (why isn't Putin a bad hombre, instead of the object of a twisted bromance?)

I hear the bathrooms in Trump Tower are being relabeled "Bad Hombres" and "Nasty Women."
Snap CNN poll - Clinton wins 52% to 39% (hat trick)

Nate Silver on Colbert. Noted Clinton came in with about a 7 point lead nationally, and by scientific/unscientific poll consensus, won the debate.

Using a football game analogy, likened it to Clinton already being up by 10 points and Trump just threw a pick six.

* Trump is circa 2013 Matt Schaub.

Is it a given that reality show "Candidate Trump" which documents the past year of the Donald's life will begin airing early in 2017? I haven't heard anything concrete but it just sounds like a slam dunk. I don't know what I'm going to do without him post-election.

As a person who doesn't really follow politics but thinks Trump is a total ### hat, I thought he did better in this one.

He looked bad on the Chinese steel and never said what he'd do with the troops on the ground in Mosul though.  Not that his zealots give a ####.
