How so? I certainly don't complain that Trump brings up Hillary's baggage. He does it bigly. It's a presidential debate, mudslinging 101.Weird how the smoke is only credible if it blows in a certain direction around here.

Looks like Drew Magary is going to be just fine beyond Deadspin.

Serious question? I assume most Hillary supporters find her "nastiness" endearing. Donald Trump's own transgressions and shortcomings aside-- the Clinton political machine is a nasty, manipulative, lying bunch. She's the matriarch of that operation.how can Donald Trump have the temerity to suggest that Hillary Clinton is "nasty".
on what grounds? because she isn't cowering before him? because she doesn't know her place? because she's firing back at him?
Same as the previous 20-25 years or so, so she should bewe'll see how that plays out under the microscope for the next 4 years but i think she's prepared.
Throughout the campaign, many references have been made to the many foreign outsourcings Trump and his companies have made all over the globe, from raw materials to manufacturing goods to employees and even brides. Steel happened to fit in nicely in the context of last night's debate. And why get all hung up on the steel? I'm pretty sure the drapes and carpets were made in Taiwan.
"Mr. Trump's Cameo In ‘Home Alone 2’ Played On A Continuos Loop"
Not illegal, but may not play well when he campaigns in states that he is for the steel workers and it is terrible that they are losing work due to companies getting their steel from out of the country - when that is exactly what he is doing. Again, if he wants to do that, fine. But than don't use it as a talking point for what is bad about America, and how he is their champion and will make things better for them, it's ridiculous.I'm pretty sure his point was that he'd change the "trade deals" so that imported steel wouldn't be cheaper than american made steel. I have no idea if he could really accomplish that or not, but it's a pretty simple concept, and very lazy for opponents to paint the picture of him not supporting american workers instead of just getting the buildings built with the lowest cost possible.
But, that's not really how it works anyway. Trump and Ruffin's corporation solicited bids for construction for the hotel in Las Vegas. Contractors submitted prices to construct the hotel based on estimates that include cost of raw materials. Perini Building Co. was the winning low cost contractor and had an advantage in their estimate with foreign steel that costs less than american made steel, happens every day in the construction market. Why wouldn't Perini take the advantage of a lower estimate by buying lower cost materials in order to win the contract? Why wouldn't Trump and Ruffin select the lowest price submitted in order to provide the highest returns to investors? If contractors didn't like Perini didn't take that advantage they would never win a construction contract. If corporations that build hotels didn't take that advantage they would go bankrupt against all the others that do.
based on..... what?Serious question? I assume most Hillary supporters find her "nastiness" endearing. Donald Trump's own transgressions and shortcomings aside-- the Clinton political machine is a nasty, manipulative, lying bunch. She's the matriarch of that operation.
My point was that it's the exact same argument. Surely you see how silly the drapery argument is?Throughout the campaign, many references have been made to the many foreign outsourcings Trump and his companies have made all over the globe, from raw materials to manufacturing goods to employees and even brides. ETA: any time you want to get to the part Clinton lied about, we'd love to know.
Yeeeeaaaahhhhh....Serious question? I assume most Hillary supporters find her "nastiness" endearing.
Are you asking me to tell you why some people might find Hillary Clinton's political tactics nasty? Are you new to following politics?based on..... what?
i could go around telling people that they post too much but that would be.... insane for me to point out as a negative, no?
Chris Wallace taking out the audience really hurt Trump in this way. Trump wanted to turn the debates into circuses and a lot of that is the crowed booing and cheering like it's Jerry Springer. The GOP let that happened in their debates especially.I think a lot of his shtick is more palatable if you interpret it as him trying to be funny - the "she's a nasty woman" comment would have gotten him huge laughs in front of a friendly audience, and he's probably used to feeling like the funniest guy in the world since all of the sycophants around him probably laugh like hyenas whenever he says something remotely close to being funny. I know I seem to get funnier with each promotion, I can only imagine how it is for someone at his level.
Let's term it differently. She conducts herself in a way that adversaries could find "nasty" ... which is what her supporters would term "bulldog mentality" or "by any means necessary." Which, I assume, is what people like about her... though admittedly I'm not the one to point out her redeeming qualities.Yeeeeaaaahhhhh....
I don't find her "nasty". I've never been a huge fan of hers but I wouldn't consider her "nasty" or "shrewish" or "b itchy".
Steel workers understand the steel industry. They don't blame the contractors when foreign steel prices drop below american steel prices. Not illegal, but may not play well when he campaigns in states that he is for the steel workers and it is terrible that they are losing work due to companies getting their steel from out of the country - when that is exactly what he is doing. oh, i do, for a long time. but perhaps with a different perspective than of someone who thinks "Hillary and the people around her are nasty"Are you asking me to tell you why some people might find Hillary Clinton's political tactics nasty? Are you new to following politics?
Neither of these people are fit to be president. But that's not stopping them from debating and calling each other unfit so that we can determine who is the least unfit.![]()
And they certainly wouldn't blame the corporations that hire low cost contractors. They blame the politicians that allow that steel to come into the country in the first place. Not illegal, but may not play well when he campaigns in states that he is for the steel workers and it is terrible that they are losing work due to companies getting their steel from out of the country - when that is exactly what he is doing. What do you mean you see his point but don't agree?tonydead said:I can see Tobia's point, just don't agree with it. You can say the exact same thing about virtually every construction project in existence. That makes it a giant red herring to me.
l think it's pretty silly to equate the arguments given Trump/Pence have campaigned on one but not the other. My point was that it's the exact same argument. Surely you see how silly the drapery argument is?
nas·tyoh, i do, for a long time. but perhaps with a different perspective than of someone who thinks "Hillary and the people around her are nasty"
in what way are they, but specifically she, "nasty"?
well, thanks for that but it really lacks actual examples to support your positionnas·ty
oooooooooofDo I have to hold your hand? We both know the things she has done that fit the definitions provided.well, thanks for that but it really lacks actual examples to support your position
Would this man wear pantsuits?A man with the exact same character traits and policies as Hillary would be a lot more popular.
He wrote a book recently. It was really good.Looks like Drew Magary is going to be just fine beyond Deadspin.
i'm asking you to define it since you are one of the people who believes itDo I have to hold your hand? We both know the things she has done that fit that definition.

I'll add it to the Christmas list. I'm already three deep in the new book queue. (About halfway through "This Is Your Brain On Sports" by IIRC the team that wrote "Scorecasting". Not bad.)He wrote a book recently. It was really good.
Trump bases a lot of his campaign on it.And why get all hung up on the steel? I'm pretty sure the drapes and carpets were made in Taiwan. Why doesn't she just claim that Trump took all her ancestors jobs away.
I didn't show up for an internet fight. We all lose on that front.i'm asking you to define it since you are one of the people who believes it
this smells very similar to Trumpian pronouncements where he throws out a crazy suggestion then backs it by saying "i know. believe me. i know."
well.. how? as someone with a wit of intellect and a need to understand things i need more examples than "i just know". that shows a deep lack of understanding.
Do you think she conducts herself any differently than any other successful politician?Let's term it differently. She conducts herself in a way that adversaries could find "nasty" ... which is what her supporters would term "bulldog mentality" or "by any means necessary." Her laundry list is pretty lengthy. I don't know how to adequately measure that.Do you think she conducts herself any differently than any other successful politician?
SexistHer laundry list is pretty lengthy. I don't know how to adequately measure that.
If you're referring to me, my position on Trump goes way back into the primaries. I'm not voting for either.Personally I find it funny that lately the "Never Hillary" crowd are all saying "I don't like Trump either"...
NastyGUYS...GUYS!!!
I just found out from my students that if Hillary wins she is going to make kids go to school in the summer.

Look at the expression on his face at the :52-:53 second mark? It is the expression of somebody who realizes he has been caught as a hypocrite. And why get all hung up on the steel? I'm pretty sure the drapes and carpets were made in Taiwan. Why doesn't she just claim that Trump took all her ancestors jobs away.
