Yeah, I saw a couple Trump Ads last night. I was like, wtf is he wasting what little money he has?

Then again, NY is his home (not that we want him, he is pretty thoroughly despised here, ESPECIALLY anyone who's done business with him) and this whole campaign is about feeding his ego and need for applause.  Not sure how he is going to deal with losing by 30+ points in his home state. 

 
There are lots of ways Trump could have dealt with the most recent allegation of sexual assault or harassment, this one from a porn actress.  "She's obviously just looking for attention so she can profit from it," for example.  Instead he chose a sarcastic admission:

Oh, I'm sure she's never been grabbed before

Remember during the GOP primary when people thought Trump was some sort of political genius?

 
In the meantime, Donald keeps trying to raise money. Because I frequent Townhall.com on occasion, I'm on Trump's email list, and I get a new email nearly every day. Here is the latest (from yesterday):

After getting your feet wet? The first day of your re-election campaign is the day after the last election. That's true no matter how long you've been there.

I don't know anyone who's worked in the Senate but my guess is you're right. When you have a longer term you at least have some time to breathe. 

 
I don't believe in any term limits at all. I think it's a terrible idea. I like the fact that when a guy like John McCain talks about international relations, he speaks with the gravitas of over 30 years of experience. That doesn't mean I always agree with him, but I like having "elder statesmen". I think that's a tremendous thing. How can we have elder statesmen with term limits? It's just a dumb idea put forward by people who, IMO, haven't really thought through this very deeply.

One of the few times where re-running a sketch concept actually paid off.  Normally they run sketches into the ground with steadily diminishing returns, but this turned the sketch concept on its head while actually making a cogent point about the 2016 electorate.  Definitely one of the show's very best political sketches.

In retrospect, maybe choosing him as a candidate wasn't such a great idea. He has some deep rooted primitive circuits in his brain which are easily activated (if pushed, push back 10-100 X harder), and his poor impulse control at the personal revenge micro level hijacks his brain at the global macro level which before and after the rage and in moments of lucidity he may be fleetingly aware it would be better for both himself, the campaign and Republican Party if he could be disciplined and stay on message. The mechanical nature of this vindictiveness is almost insectoid in its reflexiveness* (Clinton learned this early on and has played him like a Stradivarius ever since). When enraged (dozens of times every day?), the kind of thought process that might be a behavioral filter and warn him (for the larger purpose of the campaign, maybe it isn't in my/their best interest to act out my vendetta needs and insult variously a A) Gold Star Mother, B) fat/slut/shame a former Miss Universe and C) denigrate the appearance of alleged sexual assault victims) doesn't even seem to enter into his thought process AT ALL. He also seems at times functionally incapable of understanding how his words and meanings will be interpreted by others, making him come off as (frighteningly and appallingly) tone deaf. This dynamic bears hallmarks of the autistic spectrum in some ways (high functioning no doubt, maybe something like Asperger Syndrome?), but also of a sociopath having no conscience or regard for the feelings of others.

Things are rarely 100% right or wrong. Does Strom Thurmond have more "gravitas" from his half century plus time in the government? I guess if the capacity of good politicians to do good outweighs that of bad politicians to do bad, term limits would lead to a bad result.    

Was the Presidential term limit a bad idea?

I see the point you're trying to make but McCain is an example of why term limits are needed, IMO. Losing his faculties and completely out of touch.

It's funny - I was quite moved by this sketch.  I think because of the ultimate . . . "truth" that I thought it captured.  There are a lot of folks in middle america that aren't "racist" in the conceptual sense that they have reason to dislike people of color (or more broadly, people from urban communities regardless of color).  But . . . they simply may not have a lot of "contact" with minority communities, so people from those communities seem "alien" to them.  Because they are.  Just as much as a person from a farm in the heartland can seem alien to a black guy from Boston.

This doesn't mean either dislike or even distrust eachother.  They are just foreign to one another, even though both parties may be good, decent, people.  Anyway, I thought that this skit did a really fantastic job of representing that concept.  Right up until the payoff at the very end.

And LOL at "it was a good run."

This skit was a strange bright spot in this political year for me.

Trump thinks the 1st Amendment needs to be tweaked. Not to make America better or to end an injustice or to protect people. But because he's getting picked on.

Is it that you are so anti-trump that it doesn't matter who the other candidate is?  I think that would actually make people feel better if you admitted that you hate Trump so much, that you would vote for whoever is on the other side.  I can't imagine the people on this site are getting paid to endorse her.  But, at this point, I wouldn't put it past anyone.  Being corrupt will catch up to you eventually.

* BTW to the thread at large, not sure about other states, but today (Monday, 10/24) last day to register to vote in CA for those that haven't already. You can do it on line at Rock The Vote, takes just a few minutes, and opt to vote by mail or on line.

That makes total sense, 300 million people should be impacted by a changed, fundamental, axiomatic Constitutional Amendment because of one completely unhinged cry baby drama queen throwing a tantrum. I'm not seeing a problem?

Seeking to cement a wide advantage she holds with women voters, Clinton enlisted the help of firebrand U.S. Senator Elizabeth Warren, who slammed Trump over allegations that he tried to grope or kiss several women over a 20-year span.

“He thinks because he has a mouthful of Tic Tacs that he can force himself on any women within groping distance,” Warren told the raucous crowd of 4,000 at St. Anselm College in Manchester. “Well, I’ve got news for you, Donald Trump. Women have had it with guys like you.”

At least 10 women have said Trump made unwanted sexual advances, including groping or kissing, in incidents from the early 1980s to 2007, according to reports in various news outlets. Trump has denied the women's allegations, calling them "totally and absolutely false" and promising on Saturday that he would sue his accusers.

Warren's reference to mint candies referred to a moment in a 2005 video that surfaced earlier this month in which Trump was heard boasting about groping and kissing women.

NASTY WOMEN

Warren also referenced Trump calling Clinton “a nasty woman” at last week’s final presidential debate, a phrase that quickly caught fire on social media, sparking hashtags and T-shirts.

“Get this Donald, nasty women are tough,” Warren said. “Nasty women are smart. And nasty women vote. And on Nov. 8 we nasty women are gonna march our nasty feet to cast our nasty votes to get you out of our lives forever.”

Clinton praised Warren for taking the fight to Trump. “She gets under his (Trump’s) thin skin like nobody else,” Clinton said.
