Again, for all you simpletons who don't understand...

Trump isn't ruining his brand through this election. He's strengthened it 100x over. A third of America is about to vote for him to be the leader of the free world...tens of millions of people love him. Who cares about the other 2/3 that don't...they never liked him to begin with.

He'll be worth 10x what he's currently worth in the years following the election. 1/3 of America is a heck of a lot of ties, classes, books, etc. being sold.

For those that don't understand this (as you can see in the posts above), that's probably why you're not successful. Happy to help.

Well, they're already going to lose some of their value since they are getting zoned to a pretty terrible elementary school.  If the Trump people cared at all though, they would have spoken up in the rezoning that's going on.  Of course, they probably have no clue.
I'd imagine that most people that can afford to live there send their kids to private school.

So how many Trump ties have you bought or Trump University classes have you signed up for?

Ha, I think you are under the impression that because it's called Trump Place, that the Trump organization is involved in the day to day operations.

No, after Trunp messed up the original deal back in the day, some investors came in, took over, and the only thing Trunp got out of the deal was forgiveness of debt, and his name on the wall.
No I know that...it's just that if he really cared about property values of "his" buildings, he'd have said something.

Trump Motor Oil

Trump Tattoo Ink

He'll sell some more books, no doubt.

So getting us back to the topic at hand, how long does everyone think it will take Trump to pivot his brand to appeal to his new fanbase after he loses in November? Where we once had TrumpTM steaks, TrumpTM vodka, TrumpTM ties, and TrumpTM golf resorts we're pretty clearly going to see TrumpTM hamburger helper, Trump LiteTM cheap beer, TrumpTM jorts and wife-beaters, TrumpTM tractor pulls, and TrumpTM double-wides. Personally, I'm guessing that the work has already started, and we'll see the rollout by the start of the new year. What say you?
Re: his brand, I'll quote myself from a few weeks ago. They problem is that he needs to sell a whole lot of those stupid hats to make up for one empty $800 / night room at one of his resorts. His new followers are overwhelmingly old, white, uneducated men -- the TV dinner and Budweiser in the trailer park crowd -- not exactly folks to whom he can market golfing vacations in Scotland.

LULZ.  He's definitely hurting his previously existing brand of luxury and opulence.  Can he potentially pivot to take advantage of the new base?  Possible.  But if you think the 1/3 of the country voting for him regularly drop $800 a night at this hotels, you're the simpleton.

Yes, you could argue his new brand has a lot of value but the value of Trump as a luxury brand is gone.

So basically...he just limited his growth to that 1/3...and how much of that 1/3 are voting for him because they like him and his brand, or because its not brand Clinton?

I think you are misunderstanding what is going on.

His brand was about luxury.  His base of voters are not exactly the luxury hotel type.  His brand is getting hurt by this.

Don't forget the Trump Sheets and Trump Breath Fresheners. The majority of his worshipers may not be able to afford a trip to his resort in Scotland, but they'll need those necessities.  I'm thinking that they'll be his biggest sellers.  But, yes, I'm sure he'll claim the Trump brand is worth $100 Billion after the election.

Also, in 20 years most of the people loyal to his brand will dead or in nursing homes.

Come to think of it, Wal-Mart does sell a lot of product.

How many of those tens of millions can afford an $800 a night hotel? Spoiler alert- not very many.  For those that don't understand this, note that even Trump Hotels is aware of it and has ditched the Trump name for new properties in favor of "Scion Hotels."

I have no doubt that he'll expand his branding to products that his voters can afford.  But he's old, and his kids' interests seem to trend the other way.  They want to build and operate luxury hotels and sell $1000 handbags on the internet, not import cheap clothing from Asia for retail sale at Wal-Mart and sell $150 handbags on the internet.

Nominee for the most condescending post of the year.

He may get a TV network competitor to Fox out of this, but his brand name has already been irreparably damaged as far as hotels are concerned with "Scion" instead of Trump to be used for the name of new hotels in the future:

http://www.politicususa.com/2016/10/22/trump-admits-brand-toxic-changing-trump-hotels-scion.html

The Trump Brand is Toxic: Will Use ‘Scion’ Instead of ‘Trump’ for New Hotels

We have seen that bookings are down at Trump’s hotels, because he has made his brand toxic, and as Mark Cuban has pointed out, every time he opens his mouth, he makes it worse. Bernie Madoff, said Cuban, has a better brand.

The Trumps must be aware of this, because according to Travel and Leisure,

Amidst reports that occupancy rates at Trump Hotels have slipped this election season, the company has announced that new brand hotels will no longer bear the Trump name.

The newest line of luxury hotels, geared towards millennials, will be called Scion, the company said.

If there's video out there of him throwing around the "N word" as some have speculated, I'd love to see that come out.  At that point anyone still voting for him belongs in the basket, and I'd love to see the Republicans still supporting him (and most still do) try to squirm their way out of that one.  Not that him admitting on tape that he sexually assaults women wasn't already enough, but there would be no "but Bill Clinton..." after something like that.

That would only lead to people who hate rap music posting videos and articles to Facebook about how often rap artists use the word in their music. Since liberals like rap music, it's okay for Trump to use the word too.

Trump hotels geared towards millennials sounds like a bad business venture.

There are already respected boutique hotels that have the market cornered on cool, and have understated luxury.  This seems like a bad move, and I think the Trump kids are underestimating exactly how much people of their generation like them.

Except Trump has not been the actual developer for these properties - he nearly sells his name and brand. Someone else gets that $800 a night and won't much want to associate with a brand that presents them from doing so.

I might be wrong, but I do think that he owns some of them. Others, yes, he just gets paid to slap his name on there.

Trump developed the Trump International Hotel at the Old Post Office spot in DC (which is where the $800/night room references are coming from).  There are properties (in Tampa and in Mexico, for instance) where Trump just licensed his name.

I know people who represented the other bidders on the Old Post Office location.  They told the government that Trump's plan relied on projected room rates that could not be sustained in that area.  So it's not entirely clear whether the election hurt the brand or whether it was just an ill-conceived concept to begin with.  The election certainly hurt the property with respect to the restaurant leases.  They replaced Andres' lease (a sure source of revenue) with a management contract (where the hotel pays a company to operate a restaurant on premises and has to front the start up cost) with a chain that has a near identical concept a few blocks away.  They turned the Zakarian lease into more conference space in a hotel that already had 35,000 square feet of it.

Doesn't seem like we have much proof that the Scion thing is a reaction to a weakening of the Trump brand.  It sounds (to me) like Donald Jr. wants to establish his own personal brand and is trying to make a run at the Kimpton market.  I agree that Scion is a weird choice for the brand name (although it was a much weirder choice for a budget car when you consider the word's meaning).

It's interesting that many Trump supporters now call themselves "deplorables" and women who support Hillary call themselves "nasty women".  I wonder if something will pop in their brains that just maybe there is value in taking power over a negative word.  Maybe now they get it?  Nah.  Probably not.

But Trump's plan is a good plan, it's the best plan

Can I just complain about women trying to coopt the nasty comment by using the Janet Jackson song?  By all means, own the word.  And yes, that song is great.  But the song is about nasty BOYS who make sexist comments.  If you want a song about nasty girls, may I suggest the MaryJane Girls?

They're banking on millennials not caring who they do business with as long as the building itself doesn't say 'Trump' on it.

I don't think it will work as foresee this conversation:

"Wooo, I booked a room at the cool Scion hotel."

"Isn't that Trump's hotel, how can you support that guy?"

" :oldunsure: "

As long as he's not elected President, I don't care what happens to Donald Trump. Let him make 100 billion off of this campaign; let him go broke. Who cares?

A very fun read on why this hotel is doomed:

http://www.motherjones.com/politics/2016/09/donald-trumps-old-post-office-hotel-financial-flop

If he doesn't pay his rent, he's out.  I wonder how long they will take a bath on this one, before handing over the hotel back to the government.  At that point, someone is going to jump in, and get a renovated hotel for pennies on the dollar.

You cared about Miley Cyrus's influence on your daughter, and you don't care about this absolute toxic waste dump of a human being a part of our culture?  I don't care if he stays rich.  Let him sit on securities and live comfortably.  But this guy was a giant stain on our culture before he ever decided to run for President.

Go find me some people ( not even politicians), just PEOPLE that would selflessly serve you and the populace without regard for what they get out of it.....

WTF would anyone serve in public office without getting something out of it?

Why the
Regardless of the job they do they get a salary & mucho benefits.   I don't expect people to do something for nothing.  All I'm driving at is our reps are supposed to represent us rather than themselves.

Whoa...milquetoast Colicchio, tell us how you really feel:

Colicchio says the battle with Andrés has hurt Trump's standing in the restaurant community and Trump's comments on immigrants have made it tough to work with the reality television mogul. "He's clearly a racist and makes racist comments, and we have an industry that has always reached out to an immigrant population and built on the work of an immigrant population," Colicchio says. "I think that the remarks [Trump] makes would make it very difficult for anyone to stand up in front of their staff and want to be part of what he's doing."
and Zakarian:

In a recent deposition, Zakarian, who owns a Michelin-starred restaurant in New York City and who is a judge on the Food Network show Chopped, said the Trump kids may want to reconsider whom they were fighting in court. "If they should be suing someone, they should sue Donald senior, because he ####### did this. He did this," Zakarian said. "He rendered this Chernobyl. He did it. So they should sue their dad."

My pet peeve is about his reputation as a womanizer.

Where's the proof?  Where's the photos from the 80's with Trump and beautiful famous eligible women?  Where's the tell-alls from runway models and heiresses talking about Trump's moves as a single man-about-town?  I know more women that Scott Baio has actually had sex with than this clown.

Nah, instead it was all Trump calling the paparazzi on himself, and talking in vague terms about all the women he bagged back in the day.  We do have famous women talking about Trump, but only to laughingly talk about how Trump embarrassed himself making a move on them, or straight up lied about getting with them.

Those 3 wives he has had, are not the wives of a billionaire developer Master of the Universe.  They are the 3 wives of an eccentric owner of a construction empire from Oklahoma.

I'm 44 years old, never been married, and I have no doubt in my mind I have more pelts on my wall than The Donald.

Why do you think he was molesting all these women?

I'd bet that the Clinton campaign still has a few aces up their sleeve -- "break glass in case of dire emergency" style. They just don't need anything else right now. If polling starts to show the margin narrowing, I think that we'll see more bombshells. How hard is it to believe that Trump is on tape saying more racist / misogynistic stuff that we haven't seen yet?
If they have additional material that could increase the chance of an even greater rout than already seems destined, I doubt if they hold it back. A national win of 8+ points could reportedly lead to the kind of wave election that puts even the house in play (as you noted earlier).

Seth Meyer was off last week so had some catching up to do. While dead people may not have been removed from the voter rolls yet, he predicts a low turnout among the no longer living demographic. Low energy. SAD!

Rank these in terms of their Trump coverage  (volume does not matter, quality is #1 consideration):

Trevor Noah

John Oliver

Samantha Bee

Seth Myers

He's not a womanizer, which implies he has some ability to charm women.  He sexually assaults women and pays for prostitutes, who usually keep their mouth shut.

He isn't doing very well in the college educated demographic (i.e. - people who wear ties, go to school and read). But he is doing great with the demographic that hangs plastic balls from their pick up trucks (Kimmel?). I can see Trump Nutz futures surging, maybe get in on the ground floor?

Ingenious idea on the classes, I don't think anybody has thought of it before, maybe he can create, oh, I don't know, something like a Trump U?
