We used to be friends with Russia a long time ago.  Maybe they'll play nice and we can be friends again.  Glad to see Trump reaching out ahead of time with an olive branch.  Good for him.
And if Russian decides to make a land grab at some of its former self, members of NATO or of countries applying for NATO?  What would we do?

Yes, the guy should counsel his children that racism has been around for decades and they should get used to it. Especially in Mississippi, right?

What did you tell your children?

Yea that should worry me more than kids getting called the N-word at school.
In a sense, yes, get used to the fact that in life some people may be jerks.  Explain that racism does exist and that some people are a-holes....well, the kid is 6 so maybe use "meanie heads" instead.  If you have a 6 year old that comes to you and you cant help them or give them any advise it's sad.  There's many other approaches...hell, he could say something like "don't believe everything you see on TV"...instead he rolled with:

"Is there any place for me in Trump's America?"

"No sweetie, you're screwed for the next 4-8 years"

We open casino's and Celebrate with our friend Putin.  Hell if I am Putin I would take back it ALL and establish a base on Antarctica and might even make some incursions into South America.

So you didn't have to explain it to any children, did you. Your response, and you had time to think about it and type it out, was unclear at best. You said maybe tell them this, or that, or "many other things". Well, he had a kid in his face, and he had to answer. And actual parents don't say "meanie-heads", or "screwed", to 6 year olds. That age has a full vocabulary and understanding, but not the hatred. So you go ahead and think you know anything, based on your response I think you've shown what you know.

I keep reading about people talking to their kids about the election and what will they tell them and now they are scared.

Maybe, just maybe you let your kids be kids and don't pump them full of fear and hate!

I don't have WW3 conversation with my children because I didn't tell them that Hillary is on video saying she would go to war with Russia and Iran. I don't tell them why daddy can't wear his MAGA hat outside the house. Or why people are rioting

Sure we talked about the election, but I didn't pump them full of fear.

So you have a problem with meanie head and screwed but not #####?  You're a strange one.

Don't buy into these fabricated stories.  These are weak adults hiding behind a BS story using their kids because they feel it has a greater effect on the audience.

A lot of stuff my kids think about the election comes from sources other than me.  Why are you assuming I'm the one scaring them?

Because more times than not kids learn politics from their parents. Besides if you are scared or don't know what to tell your children than yes you are part of the problem.

How hard is it to say. Everything will be fine. Because it will be.

I don't know what problem you think I'm a part of.  I've had a bunch of conversations with my kids since the election.  I don't think I've done anything to scare them.

With that said, I view "everything will be fine" as sort of a cop out.  I don't feel that way myself and I'm not interested in lying to my kids.

Not sure "everything" will be.

Basically I told my kids that things will be different on some things...maybe worse on some if he follows through with some of what he said he would.

I explained to may son (who has heard how Trump treats women) that this is not how men should act.  But...that this shows that even if you make mistakes in life, you can recover from them.  But told him to do so, normal people have to actually change their ways from those mistakes and show sorrow or remorse.   I spoke to him about both Trump and Hillary and that how they came about power and influence at times was not the way we should act.  We should not be as full of lies and mistruths as the both of them were/are.

That in the end we have to hope all of those in power do what is best for the country and in 2 years we get the chance for other elections...and in 4 years we get a chance to decide how Trump has done.

Now what helped President Elect Trump win the election?

Thank you, Black Lives Matter movement!

It was your disgusting chants of "What do want? DEAD COPS! When do we want ‘em? Now!" And the just-as-revolting "Pigs in a blanket, fry 'em like bacon" that so pissed off law enforcement men and women and their families, that it might just have motivated hundreds of thousands of Americans to vote against your deranged street chaos agenda.

Again, big thanks to Black Lives Matter, and say hello to now President-elect Trump

My kids are 5. My son was happy Trump won and my daughter was sad Hillary lost. Today they haven't said a word about it. Teen Titans Go, Minecraft and Barbies were more important.

Kids don't give a crap about politics unless their parents or teachers bring it up. It hasn't affected our lives at all.

Thank you, Colin Kaepernick!

Thank you so very much for your self-serving, ignorant, immature, anti-American protest, while bench-warming on the sidelines for the NFL's San Francisco 49ers. It was your effort to publicly humiliate our flawed-but-good-and-decent country that infuriated millions of working-class, patriotic Americans of all races and creeds and likely contributed to the unprecedented voter turnout in rural America, where honoring our country (while still recognizing its faults) is the rule, not the exception.

He's like Squissy.....they both know how to look like an ###.

As a high school teacher, there are kids worried about Trump. They are black, Muslim, immigrants, etc. Kids aren't morons. They know Trump has said negative things about Mexican people, mass deportations, banning Muslim immigration, tweeted racist things. Obviously they are concerned about him winning.

Thank you, hooligans!

A big thanks to the all of the criminal hooligans and thugs who spat on, harassed, screamed at, and attacked conservatives on college campuses, street corners, Trump rallies, and in every liberal big city, where to live as a conservative is to live with a target on your head. Your consistently discriminatory targeting of us only steeled the resolve of millions of Americans fed up with your bull#### and motivated us to go the polls and vote your political masters out of office.

I think Donald is about to realize about 3/4 of this crap he promised is not going to happen.

Thank you, culture warriors! Huuuuuge shout out and big thanks to the culture warrior liberals out there, who thought it a brilliant idea to push the idea that men should be allowed in women's bathroom — an idea so insane, only a liberal or a media figure would think it wonderful.

Not all Trump supporters are racist, but all of them decided that racism isn’t a deal-breaker.

End of story.

There is nothing more maddening -- and counterproductive -- to me than saying that Trump's 59 million votes were all racist.

Ridiculous.

Thank you, President Obama!

Finally, the biggest thanks of all is reserved for Barack Obama.

Thank you Mr. President! Thank you for crapping on our economy and giving us the worst recovery from a recession in modern American history.

Thank you for hiking most of our health care insurance premiums by double digits and cancelling our insurance plans. Also making deductibles so high that even the people that get Obamacare free cannot afford to use it.

And thank you for opening our borders and insisting that American citizenship means absolutely nothing — that the entire world is entitled to stroll on in and take advantage of the unprecedented generosity of Americans.

The hard truth is that it was your relentless attempts to push a right-leaning country into liberal, kooky, fantasy-land that generated a historic Republican backlash that has now left American governorship's, state houses, the U.S. Congress, the U.S. Senate, potentially the Supreme Court, and the presidency solidly in Republican hands.

Congratulations to the Trump supporters here. I admit, I was disappointed in the result, but I am an open-minded person, and I will give Trump a chance; however, I am going to stay vigilant, too. With my beliefs, that is the best I can do considering how he ran. I truly hope he is successful.

That being said, I wanted to share one last thing in this thread. I'm not trying to start up a mud-fight or argue/re-litigate this tired election, but I wanted to pass an article along. Yes, Trump needs to be given a fair shot to govern us well, but even those of you who voted for him should stay healthily vigilant and aware.
