SoCal desert. Coachella Valley. Freakin' murder and it ain't even August yet. Buddy of mine called me to check out a Rob Zombie show in San Berdu Saturday afternoon. It was an outdoor event. I said fuggedaboutit, it's too hot. If it's 120 here it has to be at 110 there. Combined with a bunch of sweaty metal heads, and your in hell soup.

Oh good lord. Wife's family used to live in Palm Springs/Desert Hot Springs. Close enough.

Coachella Valley is Palm Springs to Coachella and to the Imperial Valley. If you're driving east on the I-10 from LA past Morongo/Cabazon and down the Whitewater grade to below sea level, you're in the CV. When you drive up the grade going towards the Colorado River/Blythe and into AZ, you're out of CV.

DHS is a #### hole. Nothing but thugs, meth, and ex-cons. They can't even afford a city council and basic civic services.

Wife's grandma lived in the "good part" of DHS. Old folks subdivision around a golf course.

The only good things about PS is the midcentury modern architecture, the restaurants (sort of) and the majority of the men were very friendly to me for some reason.

Well, before Sonny Bono screwed PS up (and he was a pure idiot as Mayor, as a lot of people I know who worked for the City then will attest), downtown was awesome, especially during Spring Break. Once that idiot killed it, it became a Gay mecca. Sonny banned girls in thong bikinis. Then after that he had nothing but dudes in thong bikinis. Thank God for trees. Everybody I know who worked for the City when he was Mayor calls him a POS.

I've been trying to lose some pounds so I've cut out carbs/beer.

I tried to talk the wife into walking to our favorite drinking spot. It's 2.75 miles away. I figure that would justify me having a couple of IPAs. No dice. She had work stuff to do at home.

So I went for a 3 mile walk alone. Stopped at Vons and bought some $6 store-brand whiskey. It mixes so well with store-brand diet cola.

Lick me. All of you.
