My thoughts exactly. I'd much rather have Sweed, Hardy or Kelly. At 175 pounds soaking wet, Jackson scares me.

You take best player available at 19 & odds are it isn't going to be a wide receiver. I will admit the prospects of having a game-changing type returner that can flip the field is extremely tempting; I just can't get over the fact that he's just shy of 170 lbs. How the hell is going to get off a jam? Maybe you're better off from a value standpoint just waiting until the second or third, and drafting Eddie Royal or Dexter Jackson.

IIRC, Jackson had a mediocre combine. I believe Andy D had him going in the second in his most recent mock (I think he had the Eagles taking Sweed).Also, you have to appreciate a Bears fan spending most of his time in an Eagles thread. *sigh* My father tried though.....

Simple...someone's point was that the eagles have been right with the vast majority of their decisions to let free agents go...and you pointed out a list of players that didnt take one step in refuting that assertion:Burgess was hurt for years as an eagle and couldnt get on the field and the eagles gave up on him..he had done NOTHING.

Harris was traded..not a free agent they let go.

Hood was a decent player who wanted to start elsewhere and was blocked by the eagles excellent corners...the eagles werent going to pay him starter money as a backup.

Gaffney is a dime dozen receiver...shrug...not exactly feeling his loss.

Brock was a 7th round draft pick that was never even signed and never even made the team...due to some rookie cap quirks that year with the signings...the eagles and his agent couldnt agree on a contract so he was just let go. The fact that he went on to play pretty well for the colts is moot.

Is Buckhalter gone? He ran pretty well last year. I like KJ, but he tore his ACL later in the season, I don't think he could help the Eagles much next year. Somebody else will want him more.

You are 100% correct, but you have to admit, going from the Philly fan dream of Lito and a 2nd (or even #19) to get Fitz (or even other lesser "#1) to Lito and a 10-15 spot move in the second seems a little disappointing...With the way players pan out from drafts, giving up Lito (known quantity) for a 1/2 round boost in the 2nd seems like a huge gamble. I am leaning towards having the best secondary in the NFL - IMO - , albeit a potential btichy Sheppard, than that alternative.

This is exactly how I feel. If you can't get value for him; you keep him for the time being. The drop off in value between that pick and our pick in the second more than likely will not justify giving up a 26 yr old Pro Bowl caliber corner.

All things being equal, yes, of course you keep him. They still might. They just seem so intent on trading him though, that I'd say the possibility of him not being an Eagle by draft time is around 75%.

Klecko isnt exactly a lead blocker type. He has been used as a goal line FB more than anything else and has caught a couple of passes for TD's in the goal line offense. He is a specialty player but will not be a regular FB. The Pats tried to convert him to LB so he has played LB, DLine and FB. A versatile player to have on the roster.

I've been nusy, so sorry for the lack of updates. Anyway, my buddy and I met for lunch Sunday and there wasn't much news to report:* If the Eagles trade for a WR, it'll probably be Torry Holt. As far as their concerned, for now anyway, it seems that AZ and DET have no intention of trading Boldin or Roy.* If one of the stud DE's fall in the draft to 10 or so, they will be very agressive in trying to trade up. * You guys won't like this, but Lito will likely be traded on draft day and it will basically be as a chip to move up in the second round.

Agreed. I don't see the Birds using Dan Klecko regularly on offense, but certainly it's encouraging to see the team adopt something akin to a Jumbo package for short yardage and goal-line situations. I also expect Klecko will help infuse a sense of toughness to a coverage unit that has fallen apart in recent years.

I think we have seen over the years how important good depth is in the secondary, not to mention how key it is to have a very good nickel back as the league starts to pass more. Is he seen as that much of a problem in the locker room if he is demoted and not given a new contract? If a deal is done for Holt, any idea what the terms involved might be? And for anyone, what is Holt's contract situation/cost looking like? I'm really not thrilled about Holt as a long term move since his health has been in question lately. If he is obtained, I really hope the price is reasonable. I would rather have gotten Hackett (more injuries, but younger with lots of upside to be seen, and at a low cost) than a one year (or two at best) stopgap with Holt. Then again, I'm not a football exec so I'm guessing they have access to more info than I do.
