He can redshirt with the project LB.

He's definitely going to red shirt, but how am I supposed to be excited by that?Where are the "playmakers" McNabb wanted? I'll be VERY interested to see if "5" says anything post draft about the offseason.

There was so much talk, and I held out hope that they might actually do something to improve this team for this year. All I can say is that I am disappointed. After the signing of Asante, I thought they would actually try to make a run this year. But they clearly use the draft for the "future", instead of helping out now. It is pretty sad when an 8-8 team only improves itself on ST after the draft.

Strengths: Uses hands well, does a nice job of rerouting receivers and is at best playing close to the line of scrimmage. Plays with a mean streak, has a strong upper body and is capable of stunning receivers with a violent initial punch. While doesn't have elite athletic ability, is a little underrated in this area and is generally fluid when asked to turn and run with receivers downfield. Reads routes well, is aggressive and isn't afraid to break on the ball. Has adequate ball skills and isn't going to drop many picks he should catch. Tough at the point of attack and flashes the ability to shed blocks quickly. Doesn't shy away from contact and fills hard when reads run. Breaks down in space, wraps up upon contact and is a sound open field tackler. Is tall enough to compete for jump balls and possesses the frame to comfortably add bulk.

Weaknesses: Lacks ideal top-end speed and is going to have a hard time running with NFL receivers when left on an island. While changes directions fairly well doesn't explode out of cuts and has a hard time preventing separation when asked to match up in man coverage. Appears lost in space and is far less effective when giving receivers a cushion. Gets caught gambling at times and isn't fast enough to recover when he gets caught out of position. May be a better fit at safety but he has never played there. Charged along with his brother for residential burglary and criminal trespassing in 2006 and character is somewhat of a concern. Sustained a serious knee injury during workouts in January and is going to miss at least the 2008 season so durability is a substantial concern.

Overall: Wisconsin red-shirted Ikegwuonu in 2004 and he started four of the 13 games he appeared in during the 2005 season. Ikegwuonu started all 13 games of the 2006 season finishing with 41 total tackles including 35 unassisted tackles and 3.5 tackles-for-loss. He also intercepted two passes, broke up 13 passes, forced a fumble and recovered a fumble that year. Ikegwuonu started all 13 games of the 2007 season finishing with 24 total tackles including 19 unassisted tackles. He also intercepted a pass and broke up 15 passes last year. Bottom Line: When healthy, Ikegwuonu is a physical corner who has the size and enough athletic ability to eventually excel for a team that runs primarily cover-2. But blowing out his knee will only raise more questions about his long-term durability, not to mention concerns about him losing a step post-rehab. Before the injury, he projected as a second or third round pick. Now it is likely Ikegwuonu slips to the final couple rounds of the 2008 draft.

Washington got who were talked about as possibly the top two WRs in the draft, Devin Thomas and Malcolm Kelly (not to mention Fred Davis); they have S.Moss, ARE and Cooley already, along with a less conservative coach coming in.Dallas gets even more help on O & running back. Add Jenkins in there, and I guess you can count Pacman as part of their draft as well.Giants have solid draft, upgrading secondary, plus potential steal with Mario Manningham.

See, this is the problem. While I respect intellectually that Reid and Banner have produced a consistently solid organization because of their ability to look beyond THE NOW, I think objectively no team has an infinite window and, given McNabb's age and desire to win now, plus the age of our tackles, plus Dawkins' being near the end of his productive time; this was a WIN NOW draft if we were ever going to have one.Instead we come away with a 3rd string RB, the smallest WR in league history, and a ton of special teamers to go along with a 2nd 1st round pick in 2009. UGH.

This FO makes it very hard to be an Eagles fan. I never would have thought that from the Superbowl appearance a few years ago on that they could make so many disappointing decisions. The only positive that could come out of this is trading a 09' #1 for a veteran WR but even if that happens I feel every other team in the division improved more from this draft while it looks like we got the tradedown in round 1 then basically gave up for this years draft. Another year of wasted picks on the CJ Gaddis' of the world.

Of course I'm happy about DeSean Jackson. I wouldn't have blinked if we took him in the 1st round, simply because he's a special returner and we've needed that more than almost any other team for the last few years.

What player do you think they could have gotten that would have been an impact on this season? I think they got a player in DJ who will have the biggest impact of any of the WR's available and this is coming from a guy that has serious man love for James Hardy. The point is that none of the wr's would have been a major impact in the passing game and they got a serious play maker for the special teams.Not to mention we will have two first round picks next year and quite possibly a very high one. I am pretty pleased with this draft so far.

Dwayne Bowe made a nice impact for KC last year, no? I'm sorry but do you really believe NONE of the WRs drafted this year aren't going to have productive rookie seasons? The days when rookie WRs can't be helpful are long gone.And again, the whole point about this draft is that we had 11 picks plus a willingness to trade Lito Sheppard and, as result, we were going to be aggressive targeting guys we WANTED.Am I to believe we really wanted any of these guys outside of Laws and Jackson? Honestly?

We were last in the division. It's the NFC, making the playoffs doesn't make you a good team. We would've been steamrolled and IMO it's probably a better thing that we didn't make it -- more of a wakeup call I guess.

So what player who would have made a serious impact on this years team did the Eagles miss out on?

That's a specious question. We could've theoretically come away with all but a handful of the players in the draft. We could've used our picks to move up. We could've given up a pick in 2009 to move up. We could've packaged Lito for a pick. Even good teams need to draft starters; if you're taking someone in today's NFL in the 1st or 2nd rounds, they better project as impactful in year one IMHO; with very few exceptions.

Cool, and if we don't win this year, McNabb is gone, Thomas and Runyan probably retire and/or are released, and we're in rebuilding mode. Sorry if I can't get excited about the possibility of using 2 1st round picks and hoping our 4th rounder is healthy as we look to start a new ear; having netted ZERO Super Bowls with a team capable of winning one.

What player do you think they could have gotten that would have been an impact on this season? I think they got a player in DJ who will have the biggest impact of any of the WR's available and this is coming from a guy that has serious man love for James Hardy. The point is that none of the wr's would have been a major impact in the passing game and they got a serious play maker for the special teams.Not to mention we will have two first round picks next year and quite possibly a very high one. I am pretty pleased with this draft so far.

Dwayne Bowe made a nice impact for KC last year, no? I'm sorry but do you really believe NONE of the WRs drafted this year aren't going to have productive rookie seasons? IMHO our biggest need going into the draft was a returner. Actually, that was our biggest need going into last years draft also. We came away with the #1 on the board and a future 1st. Im very happy about that.However, Im still upset with how the 2nd half of our draft has gone. More than 1/2 these kids arent even going to make the practice squad

I think this draft as well as the off-season is shaping up nicely "IF" things pan out the way the front office hopes.

We still have Lito which isn't a bad thing. He gives up an upgrade over Brown at the 2nd cb spot and Brown upgrades the nickel if they don't move him to safety. We can still trade Lito. Basically we added play makers to the secondary if Lito stays.

We now have 2 1st round picks (along with Lito) that can be used to pry away one of the 3 "disgruntled" wide outs in either Detroit, Arizona, or Cincy.

Laws should be a great fit along the d line and we needed depth there as well.

Jackson is a huge upgrade for out punt return game. Something that has been sorely lacking for the last few years. It has cost us games. Plus it is an upgrade to out slot receiver with his speed. Play maker added.

Smith is one of the project players the Birds love. If he can make the transition to OLB (like Gocong) it helps our depth at that position which is a need.

McGlynn is for depth along the O line

Demps could be the Dawkins replacement next year. That remains to be seen but what doesn't is it adds another play maker and upgrades our kick return department which like the punt return has not been all that it could be.

The Ikegwuono pick makes sense if the Birds plan on keeping Lito. Yeah he is injured but he can be stashed on IR for the season and by all accounts was considered to be a low 1st or high 2nd next year. If that pans out for them they look like geniuses.

Also added a back up for Westbrook and a bunch of free agent special teamers.

Buddy...it's not my job to name the players that could've helped. But we can be sure that, save for DeSean Jackson, we drafted no one that can help us this year, at least outside of special teams. That's my issue. Lots of teams will have lots of guys from this draft contribute to their 2008 efforts on offense and defense. Save for one guy, we won't.As to DT rotation...Ian Scott isn't on the roster. Right now we're looking at Reagor, Ramsey and Howard [of course, we could release Howard if Laws pans out].

While we didn't get that impact player I had hoped for, this has hardly been a disaster of a draft, and I have to think that the Eagles have set themselves up wel to make another run at a stud WR over the summer.Jason... you are letting your frustration cloud your thinking a little. The NFL DRAFT HAS NEVER, AND WILL NEVER contain more then a few "CAN'T MISS" studs, and those are found in the ridiculously expensive top half of the first round. I don't understand the DE, but the rest of this draft I not only get, but am pretty happy with.

True, half these guys won't make the roster, but half of all draft picks are out of the league in 2 years anyway...so what does that matter? We'll have first dibs on some lower ranked players in camp, and above average competition for our depth. AND THAT IS A VERY, VERY GOOD THING.

FWIW...AR said in his interviews that they tried to mve up in the first, but never found the right deal. They were not specificly looking to trade out of the 19 slot, but just found Carolina's offer too sweet not to take it...and I agree. The fact that we got what many saw as the birds top need player (a returner) is a huge bonus. Jackson is small, but he's not a midget. Isn't he a hair bigger then Steve Smith? Isn't he a burner that, at worst, could make a dangerous #3?

Maybe you need a break from football for a while.

Jason,I get how you feel, but honestly there are ZERO starter openings for 2008 for the team.

The ONLY WAY that they can upgrade a starter seems like a trade. No rookie steps in and produces for the Eagles - it just doesn't happen, especially on offense. It is possible to get a rookie some reps as a rookie, but odds are that he won't start or play significant time barring injury.

I don't wnat to make excuses for the FO - I just want to see Lombardi Trophy for the Eagles. I just don't see anyone that could do imrpove them for this season aside from a WR trade.

Now, I really didn't like Washington loaiding up at WR and TE and Philly not touching either one. That will hurrt in the long run unless they are busts - Manningham for the Giants as well.

Day 2 has been a big disappointment as well - no way anyone at Picks 200+ are on the roster.
