well, i got two rounds in last night after i got home. Obviously we only get the one map (Arica Harbor).....
Graphics/engine- Very good IMO. I like them better than MW2. The characters look big on screen and the player models are very detailed. The environment is huge and feels like a warzone (as opposed to MW2, where you get the feeling that you're in an arena). The destruction is awesome. Its the future of FPS gaming. There's no doubt about that. No lag at all so far. I havent seen a whole building come down yet in game (although there's a new video on totalbf2 that shows it.
weapons/equipment- Haven't unlocked a lot of stuff yet. I played some assault and some sniper. I still wish the assault Grenade launcher had more splash damage (the one in MW2 is perfect) but i guess they want to avoid the noob toobing that took over BF2 for a while. The default sniper rifle does not appear to be a 1 shot kill anywhere but the head. I hit a couple of upper chest shots and the guys kept on moving. But i did get one shotted a couple of times.
game play- Just a few unorganized thoughts.....
1) no prone is a GOOD thing. Guys cant prone spam. The only bad thing is it means that LMG's (which medics have, since they've combined the medic and support classes) can be fired accurately from a standing position. This might be a little overpowered. Will have to test out more. Crouching does give you a decent accuracy bump. Weapon recoil on the assault rifle is relevant. You have to fire in bursts (which i struggle at on the PS3)
2) your character feels like he has weight. Unlike in MW2, where you feel like you're on rails, this game makes you feel like you're controlling a person. The game place is slower, and if you get caught out in the open, you will be in trouble. Movements have to be tactical. IMO, the tactical possibilities for this game are huge. The movement of the players forces it.
3) I'm still not nuts about the rush game mode. its ok, but i like the traditional BF mode better.
4) PS3 controller is lousy for shooters. Way worse than X-Box and obviously miles away from PC. The pace of the game will be different once players can aim with a mouse.
I'll play some more and try out the other kits today. Any questions, fire away.
