Getting back into this game, new maps and soon Vietnam. I am really digging the M-14 now as well as my G-3 with a 4X scope (sweet).
I feel like ####. I am playing it this week......I want to finish this season out as Marshall is kicking ###!!!!

Just realized we get Vietnam Saturday. If you preordered through Steam, you get to start the 18th instead of the 21st. :pickle:

looking forward to trying Vietnam next week.

Not sure how effective I'll be with my hand wrapped up like a burrito at the moment.

I will be setting up my Eyefinity setup tonight and posting :lmao: . I am pretty excited to induce nausea at new rates of speed with monitors on the side. :goodposting:

Question,

How good of a computer do you need to play this and is there a microphone system in place?

P.S. Nobody plays anything besides cod on the 360. :sad 360 Gears/L4D/BF  :

We have a FBG vent system set up. BTW - whose vent is it? I would be happy to kick in some cash for the fees. Let me know. For the system, you can play on a reasonable system. No need for a real man-eater. What do you have now?

Bc2 ran perfectly fine on medium settings on my 3 year old pc. I recently upgraded my video card so I could get maxed out settings and resolution

This game is much more processor dependent than most pc shooters (probably due to the fact that its a console port and consoles have relatively weak video cards.)

That's the exact same setup I had before I upgraded my vid card. You're good to go.

Yeah, you are good. If you upped the GPU you could max settings, but that is just fine. Plus you can get BFBC2 for PC for like $15 here and there.

I'll still play BC2 if anyone is ever on. Are the new maps out for 360 yet?
I still have BC2 as well. Havent played in a while but will probably dive back in once the Vietnam expansion pack is released.

Vietnam is cool (the game that is). Plays what sounds like authentic era newsreels after games. Has a 60s soundtrack to it. Flamethrower is cool. You have TNT instead of C4. Maps have a wet grainy feel to them.

Also, a few steps to get it loaded, steam has already installed it but you have to manually enter your activation key:

cooleyo: you'll have to first go to steam and get your registration code

cooleyo: click on bc2 and look at product keys

cooleyo: you can't copy and paste so write it down

cooleyo: click on vietnam on the side of the regular bc load screen

cooleyo: log in and you are good to go

I really like it

Corp and i played for a few hours this afternoon.

Vietnam is fun, although i can see some pub games being REALLY bad if the other team has a good chopper group. They're impossible to shoot down with RPG's.

The "new" weapons are basically just re-skins, which is pretty lame. I also wish there were new awards to go for other than just the weapon stars, but whatever.

I guess i wouldn't mind paying $15 for 5 new maps and some extra stars to go for.

Bad Company 2 is $6.79 today via Steam. Man, if it had LAN play I would so buy about 9 more copies.

I just set up my Eyefinity monitors, and I have to say, it is freaking amazing! 3 28" LCD's, I feel like the super nerd in all of the spy movies that hacks the major government agency. :bag:

I will set up BFBC2 tomorrow and take :lmao:

:lmao: :) :bag:

Uh oh....no tracers back then? Then we are in big trouble unless we can get a chopper up to take it down.

Good to see gigantor join the FBG BFBC2 ranks. :goodposting: It was a pleasure to kill you with at least 8 different weapons. :whoosh:

heck, i don't even have 8 weapons unlocked yet. this is a lot harder than the old BF games I last played.plus I only have 1 monitor so that alone gets you an extra 20 kills a game

The flamethrower in Vietnam is awesome.

My buddies and I were laughing our fool heads off last night running around setting people on fire. :pickle:  :hot:

Find the class you really enjoy and work on those unlocks first. If you like to snipe, then play recon almost exclusively at first, etc. Assault is a good one to get your feet wet since you have good anti-personnel as well as anti-structure and vehicle capability.

Jumped on Vietnam on the PS3 last night. Overall, they did a nice job, but for some reason the matchmaking on Rush was awful. Game after game with 10 people vs. 5. Really not fun for either side (but esp. not on the small team). One match this morning was 12 on 12 and that was a lot better.

I'm really, really bad at this version so far. It seems that finding a hiding spot and waiting is an advantage vs. constant moving.

I highly recommend NOT starting as a sniper.

There is nothing more useless to a team than a new player sniping. Get out in the mixer, support your teammates (revives, healing, ammo, repairs). It also helps you learn the maps a lot better.

Also, NEVER snipe on rush mode if you're on the attacking team. Its pointless ( the defending team has unlimited tickets and anyone you kill will just come back in 15 seconds anyway) The only exception is if one the crates is in a destroyable building and you want to drop mortars on it.

IMO engineer is a good choice to start because you can help destroy vehicles and most of the guns are easy to control.

I actually thought that Recon was decent on Rush. Calling in mortars after a plant can be huge. Marking enemies is a huge advantage as well. Once you get the motion mines, those can be a huge help when thrown near an M-COM station while teammates are goingto plant. And lastly, snipers tend to die a lot less. When you're attacking on Rush and a newbie dies 30 or 40 times in a match it's tough to win.Honestly, I felt like Medic was the easiest when I was starting. I love the machine-guns and you can get a ton of points by throwing down health packs and reviving people. But using your equipment to support your team is the fastest way to unlock stuff. Throwing down ammo packs of you are Assault, health if you're a Medic and repairing equipment if you're an Engineer. The most frustrating part for all the classes was using the starting guns just to unlock the ammo/health/repair tool.

That's really weird. I didn't seem to have that issue last night. I'll have to see if it crops up. It could possibly have been from a limited number of people who waited all evening to finally be able to get it.The maps for Rush seemed a lot more balanced than they are for Conquest. Every map we played on Conquest seemed heavily weighted towards the Americans. We'd play and get crushed and have no shot at getting the middle flag and then on the next round destroy the exact same team when we were the Americans. And I agree that strategies will change a bit. Only being able to use the iron sights for all but the sniper rifles will make a lot of combat a lot closer. And maybe it was just me, but it seemed like they really weakened the sniper rifles. I shot a guy 4 times with magnum ammo and didn't kill him. And I KNOW one of them was a headshot. I also have been somewhat disappointed in the lack of vehicles. Most maps have a very small number of vehicles. I still haven't even seen one of those little motorcycles yet. But I will say that the front gun on the boat is amazing. That thing can do some serious damage. Oh, and not much need to tracer dot helicopters since you can take them down with regular gunfire. Pretty easily actually.I definitely enjoy the atmosphere they've created in the game though. The audio and graphics both are terrific. The trenches and tunnels, thick jungle foliage and areas laid bare by napalm are stunning.

I only play hardcore now. Night and day IMO.

I've been playing sniper the least. But one thing I noticed in this game is that it almost encourages you to try sniping because of the large maps. It sure is a lot easier using a scope to shoot someone than the iron sites on the other guns. It's hard to get within range with assault rifles because I'm either getting sniped from someone on the other side of the map, or a heli or tank guns me down when I spawn.

Says the man that got picked off from 300 yds as he was bunny-hopping by Mad Cow with an M16.

What'd you do, switch teams away from the new guys? :lmao:Not very nice, my favorite cow quote was "these monitors are kind of disorienting" :lmao:

:lol:We went to a new server, and Maelstrom and I ended up on the same team, they were the bad guys. :lmao: We had fun abusing them. The most fun was hearing the running commentary of discovering such things as chopper piloting. "Am I going forward or backwards?" "Don't just sit here, do a move!" - as they are going down in a ball of flames. The surround video will take some getting used to. However, the A-HA! moment was when I was in a tank moving forward and to my left, I see 2 bad guys running trying to flank that I never would have seen otherwise. I backed 'er up and popped a cap in 'em.

Definitely agree with you on the appearance of the game. Aside from some of the characters on the NVA side, the graphics and feel are great. Hopefully my matching problem was a one-off. It was definitely worse than any nights on BFBC2 and set a bad first taste in my mouth. It won't stop me from playing for now.

The PBR boat is easily exploitable. The main gun is laser accurate and doesn't appear to suffer bullet drop

I was playing the map with the temple last night and some guy went like 30-0. He had it parked like 200 yards off shore and was using the vehicle optics perk (why is this even in vietnam when they removed the scopes from the guns?) Anyways he was dropping people with perfectly accurate bursts all game long. I would poke my head out from behind the trees for one second to try to get an rpg shot off and I was dead.

Seems like pretty much anyone could do this and its not easily stopped (since rpgs have crazy bullet drop and I don't think one hit will even destroy the boat)

Yeah, the boat is definite way too powerful. I think 1 RPG will take it out if you have the explosives boost equipped, but otherwise it's 2. I think there may be some other issues going on as well. I've had multiple times where I'm landing multiple shots on a guy and not killing him. Like 5-10 shots easily. I was about 10' right behind one guy last night lighting him up with the M60 equipped with magnum ammo and saw the hit marker constantly lit as I ran off about 20 rounds at him. He turned around finally and killed me. When I died it showed him with 100% health. Had a buddy the same round knife a guy in the back, hear the sound it makes when you land a knife strike, and the turned around and shot him. Again, the guy had 100% health when my buddy died. So some maps have some edge detection issues or something. I think the weapon it seems to happen the most with is the sniper rifles. Very frustrating to watch a magnum round hit a guy in the head and not die. Then shoot him in the head again and nothing. Then get shot and killed by his RPK.
