***OFFICIAL*** FBG All things BATTLEFIELD Thread (4 Viewers)

Honestly, I think the tanks are perfect (other than the fact that you repair too quickly)There has to be some sort of learning curve. I'm going to be pretty pissed if anyone can just jump in a tank and go 20-0.Can't be worse than bf2 though. For those who didn't play, engys driving a vehicle would automatically repair vehicles next to them. So 2 engys in tanks could lay waste to an entire team while constantly repairing as long as they stayed next to eachother
There were more than a few nights when there would be a convoy of 3-4 FBG's each with a tank or APC, all engy's, laying waste. Good times. :excited:

EA dude said that the footage shown yesterday was from both the PC and console versions all in one. That should be good news I guess since no one noticed.
Well, its kinda hard to tell when all you're seeing is 2 seconss of footage at a time. But going back and looking at, I think I can tell which clips are which
According to a guy from Dice, all E3 Battlefield footage is from the PC version. They didn't bring any console footage, but he swore it looked just as good.

Hey said it had the PC/PS3/360 icon in the botton right corner whenever each one was being shown. I don't know if that's true since basically everyone didn't see it.

I do to. The tanks take a little time to get the hang of, but its more about being smart when in them and not driving straight into the other teams base and thinking you will survive.

That isn't what the head EA guy said on stage today

There is a lot of rumbling about why Dice hasn't shown the console version yet. I don't know why they would say that if we've seen it. :shrug:I'm not concerned about it. I'm sure it'll look good.

well, at least the guys they are interviewing on the stream are bigger geeks than I am.....
I watched for about 6 minutes and it was 2 vets talking about BF2 and really had very little idea what was in BF3, obviously filling air time.

They just interviewed 3 college guys. All 3 were console gamers. One of them said their favorite class was sniper:mellow:
Riveting stuff going on in the USteam.

Too many interviews going on. Was really hoping to see a live gameplay stream

Dice's North American Brand manager has dropped a few pieces of new info though.

Any mention of multiplayer modes yet? - seems like this is mostly an extension of BFBC2, but with different maps, better graphics, etc. (nothing wrong with that per se).

Subway map looks very cool.

just conquest, rush and team death match so far.just based off looking over people's shoulders on the ustream, the player movement looks a little quicker than Bc2. tough to tell though.

TLEF, we need you to grab a flight to SoCal tonight and be our man in the field and give us the hard hitting facts of BF3!

OK, it seems that the overheating I had going on was the main contributor to my crashes. I can keep playing at max resolutions with my single BIOS-modded 2 GB 6950-to-6970 on the EYefinity at 5760X1200. :pickle:

What that really means is this - I have a 2 GB 6970 that I need/want to sell to turn into gun :moneybag: Anyone interested? The 6950's sell for $260 on the low end, and I would be well below that. It's a long mofo, however.

Patrick Bach just confirmed that will be squad leaders with "some abilities".

didn't go into detail, but still good news.

edit: no commander also confirmed again.

From Planetbattlefield.......

-Tank footage show at EA press conference is possibly the first mission in the game

-Operation Metro - rush gamemode, close combat, play as U.S. Marines, take on Russian forces in heart of Paris, infantry focus

-Operation Metro objective is to take back Stock Exchange

-Team Deatchmatch, Conquest, Rush gamemodes confirmed

-Battle Log - hub for social Battlefield experience

-4 classes tuned for teamplay - Assault (medic abilities), Engineer (anti-vehicle, repair), Support (give ammo, suppressive fire), Recon (main focus supplying intel)

-Heavily focused on unlocks, more than any Battlefield game, customization key

-Engineer has flashlight under-slung on weapon for lighting up area, blinding enemy

-Every weapon has 3 customization slots (barrels, etc)

-Support solider has bi-pod - placed on any surface in game (more accuracy)

-Dog tags - fully customizable, dynamically updated, only obtainable from knife kills in the back

-Knifing system more dramatic, spectacular

Does anybody play Battlefield Bad Company 2 on the PS3? I would like to add some FBG friends on PSN to play with, if possible. If you're interested, just shoot me a PM. Thanks!

I received a verification from someone at EA Dice that all the footage so far has been on pc despite reports stating otherwise.Look forward to seeing the streamed gameplay when I get home.

It will be interesting how they allow each weapon with 3 customization slots. Still hoping they use licensed optics, such as EOTech and ACOG. Their default crap in BC2 was an abomination. I would love to see magnifiers for RDS, as well, but I won't be holding my breath there.

The ability to decline a revive
Love it. I absolutely loathe when someone revives me before killing the enemies in the area and I immediately get killed again. Bunch of score padders. I'm also not convinced on the delayed vehicle demolitions though. If you're in a jeep or other small vehicle, the tradeoff is that you are lighter and faster, but that one explosive can be the death of everyone in the vehicle. And in a tank, you can watch your energy deplete and know you have to bail soon. If you don't, then tough cookies. It takes more than one explosive (other than a mine of course) to blow up a tank, so having a delay and giving someone a chance to bail out or make a last second repair just seems dumb.

this. 1 rocket=dead HUMVEE and everyone in it.Don't like it, get on foot. Being able to hit a full speed HUMVEE with a rocket is a valuable skill. I freaking hate when i blast a tank and the guy bails out and doesn't take damage even though he's 6 inches away when it blows.

Good sleuthing. I hope I can customize my dogtag to an image of balls or something else juvenile.

Good times with a couple rounds of Vietnam with Joe last night. I have to say, Vietnam may not have the tactical feel of vanilla BC2, but it is just plain fun. While the PPSh is a beast all around weapon, I challenge everyone to try the MAC-10 for longer distances. For a real-world spray-and-pray, it is devastating at longer distances in short bursts.

Poster on the EA forums posted an article stating that bf3 is gonna have scope sway and breath holding for snipers.

If this forces more players who can't hit anybody out of the bushes, its a good thing.

Not sure if we're gonna get any other info today. I think yesterday was their big info day.

I really liked the Vietnam expansion. To me, it felt more balanced overall and especially in conquest, holding a flag was important compared to musical flags in vanilla. I'm fairly good with the choppers and can't stand levels in vanilla that have them throughout the whole map because they are so OP in the console version. Plus the music is much better in the Vietnam playlist.

 Jumping in a tank or jeep and having the music start up = :moneybag:

Apparently activision's CEO sent his pretty little personal assistant to try to score an invite to dice's private demo event.

An EA exec told them to piss off.

Some other minor game details popped up on planetbattlefield yesterday, but I can't remember any

more observations from PBF........ bolded is HUGE IMO. instarevive and the temporary invulnerability that comes with it is the single biggest game play problem with the franchise IMO

- On the death screen it now displays statistics of how many times you have killed the person who killed you and how man times they killed you (e.g. 2-1)

- When deployed it displays on the bottom of the screen a countdown of when a squad member can spawn on you, and when they spawn who it is

- Most of the rifles that we played with had 3 fire mode : automatic, semi-automatic, and single shot

- After you are killed the health of the person who killed you is shown as a heath bar over their head

- When your in a vehicle and stopped the camera begins to shake from the rattling of the engine

- Flashlight can blind you momentary if someone points it directly at you

- 100 points for killing someone, 10 extra points for a headshot, 100 points for reviving

- In order to revive you must hover over the dead body and hold down left mouse button while your character rubs the paddles together and charges them before the player is revived

- 2 grenades were given by default

- In order to knife in this build of the game you need to press “f” to do “quick knife”. When pressed you enter into an animation that will pull you close to your enemy and you will grab their head and execute them by slitting their throat

- You can only obtain an enemy’s dog tag if the “quick knife” command is done when you are behind your enemy

- The knife seems more like a switchblade than the classic knife we are used to

- Commo rose is not in the build we played. EA wouldn't give us a firm yes or not when asked if it would be in the final version of the game

Apparently faction-specific weapons are in as well. Big fan of this.

Also saw a post from someone at EA stating that BF3 will have 3 times as much DLC as BC2 did.

I read something, don't remember where, but they want all their DLC to be up to the quality of the Vietnam pack.

I would actually prefer they just drop map packs on us every few months. 2 or 3 maps at a time with both conquest and rush (as well as any other modes they haven't announced yet). Some new weapons or gear would be nice, but maps are the most important thing by far. That being said, a WW2 expansion pack with the new engine would be pretty darn good.

You know it. On both accounts. I actually liked the boosters with BF2. Spec Forces had such huge potential with the kits and things like the grappling hook, but the performance issues and limited use really crippled it. I would love to see things like that again. The maps and weapons were also very cool. I would like to see the new weapons, though, available on all maps, instead of just the selected booster maps.

I wonder if they meant full automatic, 3 round burst & semi-automatic
