Awesome!'madshot31 said:Just had my most kickass moment ever in Battlefield Bad Company 2.Playing solo with randoms and join in progress down 47-103 on White Pass in Conquest. I'm doing fairly well at defending the B flag as both teams are converging on it. I run back to our spawn C side to defend our home flag whenever someone sneaks in for a capture. Myself, and two randoms are in a squad and all joined at the same time and have turned the tide somewhat for our team, but it looks like to little to late with us down 2-11. I am using the Assault class which I never use because I am trying to get kills with the M16 SpecAct weapon. From here on happens in the span of 12-14 seconds. I flank around the B house and take out the man on the UAV and his two squad mates clipping from behind the hill area all in my 10 burst shots. I turn to the left as I'm pulling out my MP-443 and take down two more guys pushing up to the B house. I flip to the smoke grenade and launch one on the main road, pick up the engineers kit who I just killed, and launch a RPG into the back of the light tank to kill him inside the smoke cloud. I run through the smoke towards the opposite house of B flag and light up three medics capping the flag and snag one of their kits as I see my squad member die in the house's front door to bring us down to our last ticket. I run over to him and bring the paddles up and zap two enemies as they try and go through the rubble area of the door. As the smoke settles, there is a ring of building destruction and dead bodies around the B flag and the game ends with me standing there for the win.![]()
That pin with the badges for all pins and the badge for all vehicle pins netted me a 24,000+ round
I remember the Cow Dolphin avatar! My son loved it. I took it for awhile to confuse people who just looked at the avatar instead of reading the screen name.Bah, I hate that new avatar. If you could tell what it is, that is one thing, but crap, you cannot even tell how awesome it is. Going old school here. Be patient and you will see. . .
Everyone who pre orders gets the back to karkand pack. Those 2 british retail stores get the physical warfare pack (DAO on day 1, tm-88, flechette ammo and flash supressor)Nothing else has been announced yet, but there will be other incentives. It will be interesting to see what they do with origin. It seems like they would want to give the people that use it the "best" incentives. So does anyone have a synopsis of what you get for pre-ordering at different places?
Yeah, should be interesting. I obviously want Back to Karkand, but here's hoping we get some decent incentives in the US.Everyone who pre orders gets the back to karkand pack. Indeed. It was only a matter of time before EA took out the middle man, even if Steam is far more convenient since I already have so many games tied to one account.Yeah, I was just gonna post this. I'm very glad there won't be different packs for different retailers.I still think they're gonna screw steam though.
Links to what you are considering?great sale on hardware at Newegg today.Pretty tempting to start the upgrade process early.
Nothing now. Just a bit tempted. i know other stuff is coming out between now and September. Still, $179 for the Sandybridge I5-2400 is a pretty sweet deal. This RAM deal isn't terrible either. 16 Gigs of DDR3 for under $150.Links to what you are considering?great sale on hardware at Newegg today.

You are probably OK for now, but honestly, if you are upgrading your whole system, I would definitely do a new PSU. Hate to have a new system nuked by an older PSU.Is there any possible reason to upgrade from this power supply? (other than maybe going for a modular PS). I don't know the difference between something that's rated "80 plus" as opposed to "80 plus gold" like this one
The one i have now (the first one, obviously) is 3 and a half years old, but is still humming along without a hitch.
yeah, i figured that might be the case, and that's fine. What are the technical differences between the 2? When choosing a PS in the past, i basically just picked one with good customer reviews from a notable manufacturer and just moved on.

They were going to be weak entry level weapons anyway. You don't see anyone complaining that some people have the M1 Garand in Bad Company 2. You know why? Because it's not worth complaining about. So apparently all the people with nothing better to do whined enough to make Dice cave on the "physical warfare pack"It will be available to everyone for free at some point after release. Didn't affect me anyway, since I'll obviously pre-order and the weapons don't look like something I'd like anyway, but whatever. Score one for the crybabies. Also, the SpecACT pre-order for Sweden may be fake.
Pretty much.I got my 1000 kills with the M1. It's actually a very good weapon at med-long range (once you get to actual long range, the lack of optics hurts). 3 quick clicks to the chest with magnum ammo will kill, and the recoil is easy to control. But its a disaster in close. Semi auto with only 8 bullets and poor hip-fire performance. They were going to be weak entry level weapons anyway. I still have it but havent played it in ages. It is alot of fun.I have been playing Battlefield 1943 on the XBLA the past few days and am enjoying it. If anyone else still has it come and join me. Its different not talking to anyone due to running solo or having a squad with no mics. Put together a two game stretch where I just killed everything in sight on foot(was playing anti tank) and went 44-5, with 11 captures, 10 defends, 1500~ points. I really like the semi auto rifle. I can use it in close quarters and at distance effectively. Uni/Barley/Manback/Moobin???
After playing about 40 games I have come to the conclusion it has the best sensitivity setting ever for a console. In COD and BC2, you get to choose what speed you want but, if I stick it on 2-3(out of 1-10) then my character turning speed is in slow motion, but bullet accuracy is so much better. In BF 1943, the turning speed is quick and sensitivity applies primarily to your weapon ADS turning. Wish more games did it this way on console.I still have it but havent played it in ages. I recently did the SPEC-ACT M16 to 200~ kills and was having issues at the start. I tend to not use optics on any gun because I like the other perks and I usually stick to weapons with solid iron sights. But I slapped a ACOG on it and transformed from a 1.5K/D to going 20-4, 26-5, 18-2 every round. Its just not fair. I play engineer about 80% of the time and have forgotten how powerful some of the other guns are. It makes me wonder how people lose to me with the Eng's weak guns.Forgot how great burst fire weapons were.Finished off the platinum star with the AEK-971 (as seen in the last few videos i posted). Good gun, but some inconsistent hit reg at times. Plus the iron-sights are bad.Started up with the SPEC-ACT M16 this morning. That thing is just beastly. There's almost no recoil, so you can basically burst fire as fast as your finger will go. Absolutely awesome gun. The only downside is that the 3rd bullet apparently shoots off into space if you try to use it at long range. So you waste 1/3 of your rounds, as opposed to the AN-94, where every round hits. Just went 27-3 on Panama Canal. I think i had an 18 kill streak.
Yeah, I only use a gun until i get the platinum star with it. So at this point, minus 1 or 2 exceptions (like the Spec ACT M-16) I'm down to some pretty mediocre guns. Some people are just really really bad at this game.I guess that's how others feel when I miss them 6 times with the Gears of War shot gun and then they kill meI recently did the SPEC-ACT M16 to 200~ kills and was having issues at the start. I love that gun with the 4x scope on it. Sometimes it feels a little inconsistent, but I still prefer it over the AN-94. Probably because of the cool sounds it makes.Forgot how great burst fire weapons were.Finished off the platinum star with the AEK-971 (as seen in the last few videos i posted). i can't use the 4 time scope. I hate that little arrow. can't aim with it. The only map i'd use it on is Heavy Metal (which i don't really play if i can help it)Plus, the fact that you're zoomed in so close makes the recoil appear to be insane. I prefer the red dot. It might be different on PC than 360, but I love having infinite ammo for it and still being able to attach the shotgun attachment or noobtubes. It's the best ranged weapon in my opinion, like you can do some serious sniping with it. I don't like the slower ADS time of the 4x scope, but it's so good at range. Like on Arica Harbor. If there's some noob snipers up on top of the mountain side and you're in the city strip down below, you can snipe them if you're patient with the recoil. The accuracy is absurd. I don't think I've tried the AN-94 with the 4x scope though.i can't use the 4 time scope. I hate that little arrow. can't aim with it. On the console versions, the 4x scope adds some much needed finesse to your aim over long distances. With this game not having any type of aim-assist, it can be pretty challenging to line up a shot on a sniper that's like 200-300 yards away. Especially when you have to account for bullet drop. I can see where you wouldn't really need it on the PC version. It has probably been at least 6 months (probably more like 8) since I did my time with the AN-94, so my memory isn't great. All i know is that i probably had like a 3-1 K/D ratio with it. (wish they kept those stats). It was unstoppable at long range. It hits like a truck and is laser beam accurate. I didn't even need the 4X. Just put the red dot on someone and it was over.
Exactly. Yeah, the magnification and increased visibility of the 4x optic make an incredible difference. I'm so jealous of the PC version. Do you play on an HDTV Madshot? If so, have you noticed any kind of sluggishness to the controls? I remember when I was playing on my old Toshiba tube tv that there'd be no latency and I could whip around like it was no problem. It doesn't seem like this game is optimized for HD resolutions.Exactly. I used to play on a 42" 1080P TV and did feel the slugishness a bit, but I play on a 2 sensitivity, so that makes it slugish to start. This allows for me to have better accuracy but destroys my turning speed for looking around. I wish BF and COD had their sensitivity set up like Gears does with the Look, ADS, and Zoom speeds all adjustable. My perfect amount would be a 6-7 Look and 2-3 ADS, but I have to settle for the glacial turning speed if I want to hold my own in mid range combat.I am moving soon and won't be taking my TV, so I recently hooked up my 360 to my 20" 2MS response computer monitor and the sluggish feeling is gone. It has a certain snappy precision to it that wasn't there before. I still play on 2 sensitivity but I feel I am over correcting less. I can see the "snappiness" take effect the best when I am using the torque bow in gears. I am not sure if this is from the difference between going from a HDTV to a fast response computer monitor, or dropping from a 42" screen to a 20" screen. On the smaller screen it is much easier for me to see the entire screen without having to shift my eyes because I can sit much closer to it.Yeah, the magnification and increased visibility of the 4x optic make an incredible difference. I think Owen Good is probably their best my favorite writer they have, but the title was misleading and to grab attention. 30 FPS on console doesn't bother me as much as 720p does. It's gonna take a beast of a PC machine to get the full 60 FPS that it boasts, so most PC users won't see that either.Edited to be honest. Yeah, my only concern is that it plays smoother than BC2 did. When my friend mentioned that article title to me in passing, I thought for sure Kotaku editors had seen MW3 gameplay and were saying definitively that it embarasses BF3. If Infinity Ward had to design massive, destructible environments that support vehicle warfare and 32 player combat, I'm sure they'd have limitations on resolution and frame rate too.I think Owen Good is probably their best my favorite writer they have, but the title was misleading and to grab attention. 30 FPS on console doesn't bother me as much as 720p does.
