Alright, so I decided that i would stop just cherry picking my good games and start posting bad games as well.

So yesterday I was on a server an Laguna Presa rush came up. So i just started recording and decided that no matter what happened, I'd post both the attacking and defending rounds.

So this video is different from the previous ones for a few reasons...

A) Its rush

B) its Laguna Presa

C) I did terribly.

I actually don't think I shot all that badly (fairly well, actually, for the most part). But i just made some stupid movement decisions, ran into a lot of campers and probably had 10 kill assists where i deserved to get the kill. (someone else just got the last bullet in) Quite frankly, i think i spotted too much for my own good.

Both are in HD, although they're only about 30 FPS.

I think Youtube butchers it down to 30fps anyway, so nothing lost there. I love how the dude shoots you through the mountain at 3:25. Was that a guy inside the waterfall in the middle of the video? Nice round.

As you can see, i was VERY reckless on that round. So yeah, most of deaths were my own stupidity + some bad luck with spawns. I really didn't shoot bad. Some wookie with a VSS and red dot killed me like 9 times. There is a huge spread of skill on the PC. Some guys are insanely accurate. Others play like they're drunk. But keep in mind that the F2000 is VERY weak outside of short range. So a lot of the 50/50 battles that i lost (or both of us died) probably would have turned out differently with just about any other rifle. oh well, 28 more kills and i'm done with it. Yeah, that incident at 3:25 was annoying. That guy was actually an admin and wouldn't shut up. Plus he killed me quite a few times during the previous round. Pretty lame to fall off a rock and still get head-shooted like that.

At what point was the guy in the waterfall?

And I love when this happens......

Its actually really interesting watching console footage. The fact that you only have 24 players on the map really makes a big difference in the pace. any idea what your k/d ratio is? I'm just kinda curious about whether the smaller player count makes it easier or harder to put up big scores.

a couple new tidbits of info over the past couple of days.....

new BF blog

just breaks down the classes a little bit. A few highlights....

- Engys get carbines (was already confirmed, but i really think it makes the class so much better.

- Bipod for support can be used in prone or while kneeling/standing in front of an object that's the appropriate height. (assuming its done correctly, the suppression system is going to have a great effect on game play IMO. Will make it much more tactical)

- sniper will have "teamplay oriented gadgets" No details yet

Some other stuff from Demize's (sr. game play designer) twitter

-No sniper wookie suits.

-There is a "dive to prone" animation, but apparently its a "slick animation" and "not like blackops". Also said that dolphin diving with any sort of accuracy is not possible.

- shot guns have iron sights (this is new)

- unlike Bc2, and AT4 rocket launcher isn't guided

- in response to a question... "game is more Bf2142 paced, but with smoother and more physical movement" (as opposed to Bc2 paced. Not sure how i feel about this one. 2142 did a ton right, but i liked the pace of Bc2.

- on role of recon.... "Recon and some utility roles, like Special Operations. That'll make more sense when you see the Recon's new toys."

- whoever creates a squad is the squad leader.

Been trying to put together a short video displaying both the awful and awesome of the VSS sniper rifle. It is fun to use at times, but sometimes, it just feels rigged to make you miss. Kinda like the random cone of fire in Bf2. I have a ton of short little clips, but I'm not sure how I'm gonna edit them together. May just scrap the whole thing and just wait till i have a full round worth posting.

OK, next weekend, Thursday to Saturday, my family will be out of town. I expect full FBG attendance for BC2 sessions. :)

Here's a nice little 51-7 piece.

I would think it is tougher to put up huge numbers just because of the lack of people to shoot and having to actively search for them. Also a huge factor is that we can't choose the server we wnat to play on. We can choose a map and gametype, but I'm always placed on a low level team that is just getting crushed by 40-50s. Usually I can turn the tide, especially if I have Barley or Shades with me, but we NEVER get placed in even games. We always have to break the spawn camping and hope a few quality players join in and stick around. So, my initial games in the night usually are around 1.0 K/D and then as the teams get fairer, it is much easier to put up great scores.

but the games last longer, as there are fewer players to eat tickets up (I'm assuming that the ticket counts are roughly the same as they are on PC. if not, please correct me).I was thinking more about not having to worry about some random guy flanking you. Like take the round that Ren posted a while back....the one where he went like 22-0 camping in the building on Oasis.

Honestly, I think having a round like that on PC would be very difficult against a 16 person enemy team. (i had an 18-1 round playing with Corp the other day, but we were in a tank and the other team was awful) at some point, some guy in a building across the street would shoot a rocket up your ### when you poked your head out to shoot somebody crossing the road. Plus, I'm guessing the average to bad PC players is probably a better aim than the average-bad console player just based on the fact that its easier to shoot with a mouse.

Not taking anything at all away from Ren or any of the other good console players. Lord knows i can't aim on the console and have tremendous respect for those that can.

I'm just interested in how big of an effect the smaller team size has on the game. I certainly lose my share of 1 vs 1 battles. But ALOT of my deaths just come from random guy in a building who i just happened to run in front of. To me, it seems like that wouldn't happen as much if the other team has 4 fewer players on the same size map.

Very true. I can that consoles could provide the ability to die less, but it also doesn't allow for as many monster games at the same time. I agree that the average PC player is better than the average console player aim wise. One thing that I have no clue about on PC is if there are very many people that just camp in corners/bushes? On the console you will die quite frequently from these guys who don't move for 5 minutes at a time.

5 minutes at a time is probably a stretch. And honestly, those that do usually don't kill anyone. (see the sniper in one of my videos that was just sitting on the construction tower on Panama canal while his team was getting worked).

There is some "camping" like Ren's 22-0 video (which quite frankly, i have zero problem with) but most non-sniper players don't stay put too long unless they're defending a certain area on rush or a flank on conquest with heavy traffic.

But with Bf3 having prone, larger maps and no kill cam, I expect camping to jump up a bit. Doesn't bother me though. As long as you're not spawn raping an uncapable base, (Laguna alta for example) camp away IMO. Don't like it, get better.

Not many campers that I see. The other thing about PC gamers is we tend to be a bit more hardcore with our games. I think the average time spent in the game is greater in PC just because we put pride in the rigs we build and love to tinker with them. I think that leads to a higher average skill level.

Posting from my phone so I'm not going to quote anybody, but I'd say playing a lot of Rush can really skew your k/d. Most of the maps (Arica Harbor, Port Valdez, Valparaiso) favor the Attackers pretty heavily. So it's not uncommon for me to go 17-25 playing defense, especially when I get chunked by a tank, switch to Engy, get gunned down by an Assault guy in my spawn, switch to Recon, get plastered by an enemy chopper, etc. etc. etc. I guess that all balances out though.

Having smaller team sizes definitely reduces camping. There's sections of each map that were clearly meant to serve as control points, even though they are often off the objective. Like the mountain-side houses on Oasis Conquest, or the houses in the middle of the board on Laguna Alta. With the team sizes being smaller there's no traffic in those areas, and therefore less camping.

It pretty much ruins Conquest because it's too easy to flank and it just turns into musical flags.

Well, threw a new video together over the last few days.

Its a VSS game play montage. Its only 2 days worth of game play (today and Tuesday) and its a tough gun (with a small mag) to use, so unfortunately, there aren't a ton of great kill streaks or anything. (i had 2 awesome streaks this morning that i wasn't recording on, including killing 5 guys with 1 C4 plant and headshotting a guy off a moving jet ski with the revolver :wall: )

Just made it to highlight how inconsistent the gun is, even within the same match (or even the same freaking mag). One second, I'm burst firing head shots at mid-long range, 3 bullets later, the gun is kicking all over the place and missing a stationary target with 10 bullets in a row. Very odd. As i said before, I'm convinced there's a random cone of fire effect like in Bf2. But when its on, its a very fun gun to use. Its very "spec-opsy" and i really hope Bf3 has some similar (but more consistent) options for the recon class. With the ghille suit going bye bye, I'm cautiously optimistic.

I spelled a word wrong in the intro and cut a couple of the shorter clips off a 1/2 second too early due to the transitions, but i think it turned out ok. Enjoy.

No Bf3 on Steam.....confirmed

EA not playing around.

edit: also, on twitter.....ALL weapons will have different velocity and bullet drop based on real world variables.

Like the idea of this, if for no other reason than its not casual player friendly.

Your link no longer works, I wonder if it was a true report?

hmm. Not sure. The link worked before (took you to a page with all the online retailers for all the various countries).

The story is still up on enterbf3.com

I don't really mind. It's nice for Steam to have some competition. If they become a monopoly, they could become stagnant and wouldn't need to be competitive in their pricing at all. Especially since there is no shortage of shelf space in the digital realm.I love Steam integration, but if Origin is good, and does automatic updates and such, I won't mind.

Yeah, I don't mind either.

As long as it functions like Steam with the auto updates and chat with friends, its all good.

But if its buggy and annoying or any sort of weird anti-piracy features that limit how many times you can install a game, I will be peaved.

The issue I have with how it is now is that weapons that use the exact same round - M16, M416, SCAR-L, F2000 and XM8 all use the 5.56 NATO round - have very different damage values. Makes zero sense. Barrel length would be an interesting thing for them to fiddle with - longer barrels give you more accuracy and velocity, but slightly reduced ability to use in CQB, etc.

So with no Steam, how are we ordering this? Origin for one and all for its community?

Yeah, but the problem is if round caliber is the only thing that affects damage, there won't be as many ways to tweak the guns. By the way, Bc2 and all DLC is on sale for $10 on steam today if anyone has been perusing the thread and wants to try the game out. Pretty sure I'm going to pre-order through origin if not steam. Really wish the game wasn't going to be released on a freaking Tuesday. I would probably take off work to play if it wasn't in the middle of the week :bag:

I am spoiled by Steam - I love the digital download/install and the auto-updates. So I will probably be purchasing the Digital version through Origin unless it turns out there is some advantageous reason to purchase the box (i.e. extra goodies, it's going to take a day to install the digital, etc.) Anyone know if there is a cutoff for buying the Limited Edition to get the Karkand map? I don't want to wait too long but also been kinda holding out to see what other news comes out about different ways to order (re: Steam.)

Joe and I played for a couple of hours last night. Come on, fellas - who is in tonight? I just made rank 39, would love to hit 40 by the end of the weekend. :nerd:

Had some good old BFBC2 time with Maelstrom, Amish Boy and Senor last night. Who is in for tonight? Or even right now? :excited: Ran 12 miles up a canyon then did 3 hours of yard work. I am down for a break.

Couldn't make it again last night. I shut it down early so I could get up this morning and get some golf in. God it was hot and humid out there. Probably up for some play tonight though.

yeah...you guys swear a lot more than we do.....
There was a word in there that I kinda wish I'd edited over, but the upload takes forever and I didn't want to cancel the whole thing just to fix that. I think Zircon just hates everyone, including himself. Outside of that though, I hope the channel isn't too edgy for would-be viewers.

 Had a good five person team last night split into two squads that filled out with quality players. But, our other squad of four randoms were all snipers and we were facing lvl 45+s. So we got stomped on due to being four guns short in every battle. Go snipers. :wall:

I am assuming with the console version there aren't servers that limit recon, have hardcore vs regular, etc.?

There are hardcore and regular servers, but no class limits. Both sides had solid teams. They were running 10 assa/med/eng with 2 quality recon players who used the motion balls and were close enough to the battle to help a ton. We had 8 assa/med/eng and 4 recon snipers who were way off in the hills, never used mortar, and failed to get above 800 points when every person in the game had 2000-5000.

So they started sending out invites to the BF3 alpha testing today. Apparently they are being sent to random EA ID's (the email you use to log into battlefield). Some people on the forums have already gotten them and some videos are starting to pop up.

Apparently they will continue to send out more invites as we go forward.

Kinda bummed I didn't get one, although it looks like its just the operation metro map that they played at E3.

Also, this is pretty much a giant #### you to anyone who bought medal of honor just to play the beta.

edit: vids taken down

No idea what graphics settings those are, and the quality isn't great, but its something new.

I also don't know if the vids will stay up, as EA may have an NDA for people in the test.

edit: in one of the vids, you can see the G36C (the best gun on bf2 by a long shot, other than that 2 week period where the PKM was god mode) as an unlock for the engy class. Well, I think i know what class I'll be playing to start....

edit: taken down, so here's another one.....

seems like EA is getting them taken down, so watch ASAP if you are interested.

Graphics/effects look amazing. Hell, the whole thing looks amazing.

the ability to vault objects really adds so much to the game (just the look of it, never mind the actual game play aspects).

Its so much more believable than watching someone hop around like mario bros.

By the way, i pre-ordered at Origin today.

So Origin, it is, then. I will pre-order tomorrow I suppose, though I am still wondering if Amazon might be a great option, as well.

i figured maybe it might persuade them to send me an Alpha invite....So far, nothing :kicksrock:at least they're offering pre-download and instal. Midnight of the 25th comes, I'll be logging in. Debating taking off from work :bag:
