the ability to vault objects really adds so much to the game (just the look of it, never mind the actual game play aspects). Its so much more believable than watching someone hop around like mario bros.
:lmao: Man I hate that so much in Bad Company 2. I really appreciate these updates. As someone who's not going to watch a second of gameplay before putting the disc in the tray, these little gameplay changes are great stuff to read about.
Midnight of the 25th comes, I'll be logging in. Debating taking off from work :bag:
This is a no-brainer to me. I took off 2 days for Mass Effect 2 (good), 3 days off for Halo Reach (mistake), and I'll be taking at least 2 or 3 days off for BF3 (good).

Ran into this noob while playing with Zircon the other night. I didn't think I'd ever stop laughing.

Pure awesome. Sounded like you were hyperventilating when pulling circles around him. :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: Can't began to count how many times Barley and I have been tearing up in the boat to have a guy pull the same oblivious driving the boat away from battle.

awesome.

edit: the ability to lock a vehicle would be a nice addition to Bf3. Won't happen though.

I can't even count how many times (In BF2 mostly, when the 50 cal machine guns were awesome) that i parked my HUMVEE near a nice, high traffic road or alley and just started ripping people up. 5, 6, 7 kills in a row, until some noob would come and jump in the drivers seat and use it to transport himself somewhere useless. Just brutal.

looks like EA has stopped taking videos down.

This one shows some good and bad.

-the good: animations are pretty sweet, gun play looks tight and responsive, cool microdestruction

- the bad: lots of buildings and larger set-piece items (statues, cars) don't appear to be destructible at all, so it looks bad when you hit it and nothing happens. Debris that falls off buildings (which they've told us can kill people) disappears after it hits the ground. hope this is just an alpha issue, but i'm not getting my hopes up.

Has there been any 360 gameplay shown yet? I've noticed that Dice has tended towards the PS3 on the demos they've done, and I think it's due in large part to the complete abject failure of Treyarch/BlackOps to make a passable game. Between that and te PSN outage it's a pretty good opportunity for them to shore up the PS3 base.

How comparable is console gameplay to PC? Not too much of a drop-off I hope?

All the alpha videos are pc. I think the only console game play we've seen is single player. It looked the same as pc, besides the graphics.

I'm guessing the actual game mechanics will be the same. The differences will be graphical, plus the lower player count and some control limitations

I just got an Alpha invite!!! Alpha is only for PC. Hope it works on my laptop. Wonder why I got one when I only play on PS3

either they are trying to get me to buy both versions or they don't wtf is goign on
The invites are random. So a bunch of console players without the necessary hardware are getting them.Poor planning by EA from both a marketing and testing standpoint. They should gave given priority to people with lots of play time on bf2 and bc2

Flip, I am a registered owner with 1942 with all expansions, BF2 with boosters/expansions, BF2142 with expansions, and BFBC2. Freaking give me a key, #####es!

20 minutes of game play

some french dude playing what appears to be a full round (haven't watched the 2nd part yet). He is actually a really good player when he actually tries, but he spend a bit of time just stumbling around and trying to find stuff that will/wont blow up when you shoot it.

Some scoring stuff....

100 points for a kill (up from 50 in BC2 and 2 in BF2. haha)

10 point for headshot

70 points for (ending enemy kill streak, not sure how long the streak was)

10 points for having someone spawn on you

200 points for "assault rifle ribbon". Not sure if those will be like the ribbons you got in Bf2 (which took a decent amount of time to get, depending on which one) or the pins in BC2, which you pretty much got every round. Since its only 200 points, and I've seen people get them in quite a few vids, I imagine they are like the BC2 pins.

part 2

edit: another cool thing i noticed. If you reload your gun before emptying your mag, your gun will still have an extra round in the chamber when you reload. so you'll have 31 bullets instead of 30. nice touch

The best is when you're just pounding on people with a tank, everything is going spectacularly and you're just holding down a position with it, and then some noob hops in while you're repairing it, usually a Medic, and drives it into the enemy spawn.

And then they hop out and give the enemy your vehicle.

cant ####### wait until BF3 so i can decline to be rambo-revived by the ### #### medic whores. (sorry corp)

Just got killed/revived 9 times in a row attacking the 2nd stage on Valaparaiso. The other team had 8 guys zeroed in on our position just lighting us up and the stupid medic herd kept diving in to revive instead of actually firing their rifles. Went from 21-14 to 21-23 in less than 30 seconds.

Kill the enemy first, then revive. Its really not that hard.

Are you still playing? I was thinking of jumping out there. And I only revive you to make you mad :lmao:

Here's the thing with reviving though TLEF. If you are thinking of the team and not your k/d then it makes sense for the medic to revive as much as possible. It saves the team a ticket. Now, if we are talking about k/d whores . . .

I have to say I am loving the M3. Throw a RDS on it and it is a beast. Three fast taps and baddies go down. And it sounds pretty much cooler than any other gun in BC2.

if all that happens is i live for 2 seconds (until the revive invulnerability wears off) and then die again (this time, with a longer re-spawn timer on most servers) then it doesn't help the team at all.and lets face it, most of the guys doing this are just doing it because its 50 points they can't get by killing someone because they suck. (Corp and anyone else here who plays medic most of the time excluded). i really hope they do back to calculating K/D like they did in bf2. you shouldn't get credited for a death until to use a ticket to re-spawn.edit: the only people i would consider K/d whores are the wookie snipers that sit back all day long in hopes of going 5-1 for the round. If you're aggressive and happen to have a good K/D ratio, you're helping the team.

14 minutes of alpha game play Haven't watched it yet.

The guy also posted screen shots showing every available weapon in the alpha as well as every available attachment for the Pecheneg (all class LMG)

Lots of attachment options, and I don't think that's all of them (other alpha vids have shown "heavy barrel" which isn't in that SS) Pretty psyched about that.

edit: this guy actually has a bunch of vids up for those that want to watch. Also, the Alpha apparently ends on monday or tuesday. So probably no more invites :kicksrock:

Alpha invite. :pickle:

For the record, I actually went and verified my email address at EA.com (I go there for the BF3 forums).

Probably just a coincidence though

Did you sign up anywhere? Other than verifying your email address?
Nah. I've been registered at the EA forums for a while (your login is the same one you use to log into BC2 or any other EA game). When i was there this afternoon, there was a banner at the top of the screen telling me my email address wasn't verified. So i just did it. Considering that tons of people who don't even play on PC or visit the forums got invites, its almost certainly a coincidence.

just checked the EA forums. A bunch of other people got invites tonight.

Couldn't hurt to register on the forums if you haven't already

First impressions......

Graphics look very poor with the settings we are locked into on the alpha (I'm guessing it has to be all low). I think we're locked on resolution too.

Playing the first part of the map, its nearly impossible to see anybody. Everyone just looks like black dots in the distance.

And you can't edit the controls in game, and I can't play with the default controls (using "CTRL" to crouch is just brutal). So I think I'm gonna have to set up separate BF3 alpha profiles on my mouse and keyboard and do macros to try and Jerry-rig it so i can actually do something.

well, once i got the controls tweaked (bound crouch, prone and quick knife to my mouse) and got used to not having toggle Aim down sights (gotta gold right trigger the whole time) I finally got things ramped. Rolled out a 40-16 round while attacking and my team won. Had 2 8+ kill streaks :boxing:

Some cool stuff just about general game play.....

1) you can sprint at an angle (not just straight lines)

2) hit reg seems amazing. 10X better than Bf2 and Bc2. If you fire in short bursts, you will hit your target.

3) animations are tremendous. Prone seems realistic, although i have a hunch that your hit box hangs up a tiny longer than it should when you dive to the ground. Could have been lag though. I didn't notice a big difference in accuracy when shooting from prone, but I was using carbines. I love having prone back just to dodge fire.

4) The map is actually pretty fun once you get past the first stage. (and if your team doesn't suck, first stage isn't bad)

5) attachments have to be unlocked for each individual gun.

Some stuff some might not like.....

1) No kill cam. Obviously, i love this

2) you can choose not to accept revives, but i think you still get credit for dying even if revived

3) gun damage is higher than Bc2. If they are bunched up, you can drop 4 or 5 guys with 1 30 round G36 clip

With the higher damage, prone, better hit reg and no kill cam, rush mode WILL BE CAMPY. I honestly wouldn't be disapointed if they dropped the damage on the guns just a tad (like 10%). You're going to see a lot of guys lying prone with LMG's and bipods

There are some bugs in the alpha, and the lower settings are annoying (tough to see far out and differentiate enemies from certain items (statues, trees, ect) and there is a weird bug where the game will automatically change your class when you spawn. And the lack of customizability is annoying (but understandable) Also, i found myself getting stuck on stuff at times.

But overall, the game play is fun and the stability is good. They're on the right track for sure.

I'll try to get some vids tomorrow. Any questions, fire away.

basketball game at 7, but I'll hop on afterwards. Kinda tempted to call out of work, but not worth it on a Thursday with only 1 map to play. (plus, i actually have important work to do and all).

I'm Tlef316 on origin. Maybe its case sensitive and you capitalized all the letters.
