I agree, the default settings are ###. Can you even spot in the alpha? If so, what key?
That second part of the stage may as well be called "shooting fish in a barrel" for the defending team. What a bottleneck! It reminds me of Dustbowl on TFC with all the grenade spamming. After finishing the first part of the stage at 12-2, I went 1-11 there and decided to hang back and just give ammo. It's a medic's dream, Cooleyo would love it for revive points if he didn't get killed reviving himself. Maybe I just got in a bad game.

Doesn't offend me, but they REALLY need to implement a clean voice over option.
Last night my squad was pinned down in a subway car and one of my squadmates yelled "Man, I'm really getting my #### pushed in". (word for poop that starts with S)
Again, its an M rated game and I'm an adult, but this just seems totally unnecessary.

That is probably my biggest issue with BC2. They can provide clean options.

Haha. Never thought about TLef's 316. I have reasons for the 317 that I'm sure I'll tell you one day, if it's not too obvious. Of course, OutaTime and SlaX was already taken and I didn't like my other name I used to have in there, so I changed it today.

Loving the gun play more and more. Very sharp and i really think it rewards good, quick shooters (but not in a super twitchy way like COD).
Unfortunately, prone is REALLY slowing the game down. So many attackers just lying prone behind trees plinking shots at defenders as the tickets go down. 90% of games are ending on the first stage. Not surprising, (lots of bad players, lack of game knowledge).
I could see EA being forced to add a 2nd tank to the attackers side to make it more interesting. The inside part of the level is way better than the first stage.

Played it, loved it. Had an AWFUL KD ratio the first round. I didn't think the mouse settings were adjustable (I always play inverted mouse). After I found the setting I did pretty well.Game crashed every time I played it though, is yours crashing a lot?'TLEF316 said:

1 or 2 crashes. Not to bad.Inverted mouse? can't imagine playing like that.I was able to use the software that comes with my mouse to bind most of my stuff to the mouse. So the only thing i don't like right now is that ADS can't be toggled. But I've gotten used to it. Haven't gotten a handle on the knifing mechanic. I also don't get why every BF game changes what key you need to hit to get your primary weapon. In bf2, it was 3. In BC2, it was 2. Now its 1. Very odd. Great game, especially for an alpha. But the first stage appears to be defensive oriented and nobody is getting past it. Had a sweet 9 kill streak just a few minutes ago.
No point taking video right now, as I'm just playing the same map over and over again and there's plenty of footage out there.

I tried to download prior to leaving on vacation but my computer crashed mid way and appears to be dead. The hard drive isn't recognized on reboot.

the actual playing of the game (moving, shooting, ect) is fun, but as of now, the alpha is basically broken.
Between the map, 3d spotting and the bug that stops you from spawning on your squad (95% of the time so far) its impossible for attackers to win as long as the defenders aren't a bunch of 3 year olds.
Still, this game has great potential. Very satisfying to run up a nice kill streak. One thing i keep forgetting is that we can select single fire now. I keep shooting bursts at far away enemies and then I'm like "doh" and realize i can single shot them to death.
Some weird scoring things at the moment. They aren't giving points for kill assists (or healing, i don't think) and you only get 10 bonus points for killing a whole squad. Seems like it should be more.
To be honest, I don't feel big differences between the various guns in the same class or when i use different attachments. Still some tweaking to be done for sure.
I'm pretty sure i just unlocked the noob tube. Gonna try it out a little later...

I was getting suppression fire team points when I had some people pinned down, pretty cool.

hard to believe they let this thing get out the door with the squad spawn bug. I've only been past the 2nd stage 2 times, and i think both of those were the first night i played the game. just impossible to win when 4 bullets kills you and you have to run 200 yards to get back after you die. Still love the gun play though. Running a k/d ratio just under 1.6 at the moment.
the noob tube is very tough to use. it has some weird ironsights that kinda look like this only even more first person view. I can't figure out how they work.
You have to choose between the GL or the med kit. In my experience so far, med kit is far more valuable.

Today is the first time I've ever been able to spawn on my squad. I can't say it helped, because the squad I was running with usually were in bad spots, but I got tons of points and a couple of ribbons for them spawning on me.

Not to hijack too much but what is the play to fix this? It's the intel SSD that has failed. Should I put the drive in my other machine and try a repair or just reinstall windows? How far does it make it into boot? I would say try going into BIOS and set boot priority for the DVD drive and throw in your Windows DVD and try a repair install first and foremost. Other simple things are check power connections and power to the drive as well as that the SATA cable is secure. someone who is a bigger dork than me dug through the files included with the alpha trial and found stuff for the ComRose.
Very happy about this. it was a great feature in Bf3. Its presence will also eliminate the need for the current 3d spotting system of just spamming the Q button

Ah, cool. I had picked up MoH a while back, but mainly for the single-player campaign (I enjoyed the beta that I played a while back and it was on sale on Steam for like 50% off or something like that.) Can't say that early access to BF3 didn't help tip the scale a bit, but it was not the main reason I bought it. BTW, while the single-player was fun, it was short enough that I didn't really feel like I got my $$ worth from the game, even on sale. I don't have any of those games, which would you recommend? I have ME 1, but didn't get too far into it. Have never played Dead Space. Would never play MOH multiplayer and Maelstrom said it was very short. Leaning towards DeadSpace.I can probably play, what time are you getting on?I saw that.BTW anyone gonna be on the next couple of days? If I didn't already have it, I'd recommend Mass Effect 2. But since I already have it, I'd go Dead Space 2. IMO, it took WAY too long to get some of the medals in Bf2, but not nearly long enough to get all the awards in Bc2. Somewhere in the middle is the correct balance.
Excited to dig into the attachment system. Just based on the sheer number of weapons and attachments, it will be cool to mix and match combos.

I didn't realize how little I had left on the Bad Company 2 single player campaign. I just finally finished it. I was bored, having finished my first playthrough on Mass Effect 2 this week and I'm trying to think of what to play next.
Also, I'm sure you all know, but you can activate your Bad Company 2 game that you have purchased from Steam using the CD Key on Origin. Some other EA games work this way too. I know Mass Effect 2 does. So that helps with keeping players together. I still wish I could get my Battlefield 2 game to work on Steam. I always get kicked from servers by Punkbuster saying I'm using a third-party add-on, even now that Battlefield 2 is available on Steam.

Have you already ordered yours? Just curious, because that link let me add the BF3 + ME2 package to my shopping cart (I didn't complete the transaction, but I was logged in to Origin.) If you've already ordered yours, it is likely that anyone can use that link, and that it is just validating against the incoming link rather than against the account itself.

EA just confirmed via Twitter that BF3 will not be on steam because of restrictive practices. They are allowing over 100 other digital downloaders offer it.

Nice! I had MOH and ME2, but never see myself playing DS2 since I still have DS1 lying in Steam. If anyone wants my copy of Medal of Honor on DVD, pay shipping and it's yours. It is worth it for the SP.

Definitely don't miss the days when i had to go searching on file planet for a download mirror for TFC that i didn't have to wait 2 hours in line for.Origin seems ok so far.

I love Steam. Their twice yearly super sales are fantastic!you can only patch your steam games through the steam client. Not sure if this is a big deal. I find it convenient
