***OFFICIAL 'Fear The Walking Dead' Thread*** (1 Viewer)

The first six episodes of The Walking Dead weren't anything to write home about either, people. I liked these cause it's from the beginning of the outbreak. I know it's just one family but there'd be a whole lot of chaos going around.

These people seem pretty calm overall for now knowing much about the outbreak and seeing dead people walking around. I'm a pretty calm person but even if be doing double takes if I see people chowing down on other people. That is not just another day at the park, you know?
LA people are too cool to get freaked out by zombies.
Never been but it sounds like just another day on the interstate there.

The last 2 eps were great
Yeah, not the best show ever, but I liked it and it picked up. I thought last night was the best episode so far. I did tell my son that I couldn't figure out why they couldn't shut a freaking door and then finally they shut the last one.

The one nitpick that I will agree with is the stocking up. That base must have had tons of guns, food and meds. I noticed they had a bag full of meds for the gunshot and Nick, but they didn't appear to get any other weapons. I can see not going back for the food at that point because there were zombies in there and they have 0 skill at clearing places out.

That said, I will add that while I may nitpick about that, I do have to remember that these folks had, at that point, killed 1 zombie at the house and 1 at the school and done both poorly. They are basically scared ####less of zombies and we can't compare them to Rick and crew who have killed thousands of them, have cleared places like the prison, etc.

No matter how bad FTWD is...President Camacho could show up with guns blazing, piloting a helicopter full of aliens that are here to help.. Magic rain could start falling and "cure" the zombies.. Finally, it could show Rick waking up in the hospital and TWD and FTWD were all just a dream he was having in a coma...it STILL wouldn't be as bad as Under The Dome..

This is true.

Thought it was well done. I could sense the feel of desperation by everyone once the zombies got through the fence.

But those guardsmens were horrible shots. By now they know they need to shoot the zombies in the head. They were just spraying them. I get the desperation, but you would maybe see that by regular citizens, not trained men. Instead of spraying the mob of zombies with bullets, just squeeze off one or two shots head high, while standing behind the fence.

And the zombies makeup sucks compared to TWD. I don't understand that.

thought the finale was ok. I would have rather seen the girlfriend get bit and had to be killed than the ex wife, though. The guardsman kid that got tortured was released by Travis and wasn't in the truck. But he showed up at the clinic site out of nowhere with a gun to get revenge on Salazar? Where did he come from, with all those zombies standing around the entrance? Seemed silly, but it did show us that Travis doesn't like being lied to or double crossed. Definitely a Rick Grimes moment there.

And finally, someone thought of getting on a boat and staying off shore.

Liked how the ex wife explained to Travis what was happening. The bite doesn't kill you but it allows infection to set in and there's no cure (antibiotics don't work), and it doesn't matter how someone dies... they all come back. Rick's group didn't know that's how it works until the CDC guy told Rick everyone is infected.

Think that is by design. TWD zombies have been dead much longer and have rotted over time. These are fresh zombies. It would explain how they are stronger than those on TWD (they pushed through the fence quickly) and how it takes more than a small knife to get through their heads. These zombies had to get whacked on the head 3 or 4 times before they went down. TWD all it takes is a semi-sharp object to go through their soft rotted skull.

They are probably a hour away from Santa Catalina Island.

Will be interesting if they try to go to an island like many people had said they would do in these situations or if they are gonna get to the boat and 2 episodes later it sinks and they are back out on the streets

We enjoyed the show for the most part. But even though we suspend dis-belief with horror and sci-fi (because if you don't just change the channel) we still can't believe how in the world LA is empty.

Impossible.

LA people are only cool with zombies if they are politically correct.

On the Talking Dead they explained the difference being the humid climate of Georgia compared to the dry climate of LA.

Just terrible
I thought it was pretty good. Actually, even though the show's first season was slow in many ways, this show did a better job of describing how the apocalypse would unfold than the TWD did. TWD jumped right into it a month later, which I always thought was the wrong way to do it. I like Kim Dicken's character. She's going to be tough as nails.

Unless the boat is self sustaining, it is just temporary relief until you need food and water, or get attacked by the waterworld bandits.

Plus the gas will dry up quick and you are stuck floating around.

I would head for the smallest Hawaiian Island.

Fantastic episode. There was a scene of them packing for a trip and lots of zombies - everyone should be happy.

Anyway, those of you who didn't like Season 1, see you for Season 2.

Guaranteed FTWD season 2 will be loads better than TWD Season 2: The Waltons.

where did he get the key from?
Probably from the military guy he was bartering with. When he left him to get munched on by the zombie, he said something like "he was my ride out of here" Probably promised him a spot on the boat.
Exactly. Pantherclub may have missed that he also grabbed his nice cuff links out of that guy's pocket. There was a scene in the fenced area where that guy was taking stuff from him for favors, the key being one of them.

DC area was pretty empty as well where they were in Alexandria. In TWD they explained that they had evac'd a lot of people out of DC, but they didn't make it so they setup shop there. Maybe big cities got all of the military support which got rid of a lot of the roaming zombies and people bailed on the cities (we saw traffic jams on the overheads and in Atlanta). Also, as we saw in that one arena, they locked people in there. Maybe lots of arena's in cities with lots of people who stayed.

I don't know, but I think big cities probably had tons of people bailing. So many ways out of LA it isn't even funny. Also, at this point people likely have enough stuff in their houses to stay alive for a few weeks, so maybe a lot of people just holed up waiting for news.

I thought that was cool as well. Unlike Rick's crew, she was working right in the middle of the center of knowledge. The military and that doctor already knew exactly what happens. They probably didn't know the details like the CDC guy in trying to find a cure, but they knew if someone dies, they come back, hence the nail gun.

Looked like something tried to grab that seagull in that final shot panning out over the ocean...pretty sure there are already some water zombies

I posted something about this last night. I actually liked that they were panicked and not at the comfort level of Rick's crew after many months/years (no idea on their timeline). Remember how the head guy died in that building? These guys are fine with taking head shots from a scoped rifle with an stationary target, but they are the national guard. No offense to the national guard, but I think the point was that these guys have never ever had to deal with that situation yet. Rick and his team have dealt with that situation multiple times. Maybe they will get there, but there is a difference between training and being in a firefight with 2 thousand zombies coming through a fence.

Yeah. It was pretty funny watching those guys spending tons of bullets but not hitting anything. Figured they would end up shooting the fence up and opening holes for the zombies. I thought for sure someone would come in here complaining about Travis' hands. No idea whether they appeared torn up in the scenes at the end, but since no complaints l guess they did. I thought it was a pretty good episode overall.

I was wondering what the black guy's game was with bringing the group along (assuming he brings them to the boat). That's a lot of people to feed/water, but then that was a hell off a big boat and figured he needed help operating it.

I think he also wants plenty of red shirts around. Protection, and meat shields.

That was one odd looking cliff that that guy lived on. Also, what was up with the gold water at the end?
Time for a new TV, it was seaweed
That was my first concern, that my tv was going out. Then I watched it on my other tv, and same thing. It looked brownish-goldish to me.
Kelp, I think, no?

Ah, ok.

I think the kelp is going to be a big part of the story in season 2. You heard it here first.

ETA: They will start motoring out to sea in the yacht and it will get stuck in the kelp.
