***OFFICIAL 'Fear The Walking Dead' Thread*** (1 Viewer)

1. We need to actually see the breakdown of civilization, government, and communities.

That’s how Fear the Walking Dead began. We saw a bunch of weird incidents, police protests, riots, and the very rapid social entropy that one imagines would accompany this sort of undead outbreak. But very quickly, and very suddenly, all that was tossed into the trash. The military showed up and we fast-forwarded into an ad hoc police state with no glimpse at what was happening in the world around our main cast of hapless survivors.
Do we really need to see that? This show is more real in the way I actually expect things to play - military trying to contain the problem before it gets out of control. Clearly the #### will hit the fan soon and the military will be overrun*, leaving these sheltered people to finally survive.

*As this article explains, the military would not be overrun but I'll suspend belief for the show.

But here we simply have characters acting ridiculous as the world crumbles around them, and since we’re all so used to this zombie parable, it’s bizarre to see characters react as though they’ve never even heard of such a thing, and it becomes very hard to empathize.
This is why TWD skipped all of this and had Rick wake up a month later.

of all the zombie shows/movies i've seen the one that did the best of it was World War Z, and they only spent about 20 mins on it.

For those that think our military would be overrun in a real ZA with slow zombies:

As of October 2013, DHS estimates it had approximately 159 million rounds in inventory.
That for the DHS alone, the military probably has at least 10x that amount in storage.

I don't think that the military gets overrun because of lack of ammunition. If the military would ever get overrun I would imagine it is a combination of people not following orders and abandoning their posts to go protect their houses and families. Also envision some friendly fire turning people in their vicinity into zombies and creating havoc behind the lines.

In order for the zombie outbreak to overwhelm survivors, youd have to have a huge pctg of people contracting the virus and dying in a 30 day cycle, but were talking 80-90% infection rate. Not sure if theres a virus like that.

The idea currently in play on this show doesnt make much sense, the natl guard quarantined some areas so they can dispose of them later? So will be interesting to see how they make sense of that

I'm not getting the military's plan here - logistically how would they be able to move, house, and feed 10 million people?

Also, if they know people are turning into zombies when they die then why would they want to put people in confined spaces without thousands of others?

The arena was early on when they were ignorant. It went to #### and they bugged.

Still in the place with the fake nurse ex-wife. Some homes were empty from people leaving before the military came. Like the main family was trying to do but incompetently didn't.

Show is really bad, can't believe they didn't even actually show anything in this show, such as major decisions being made that led to society breaking down or the continuing of society breaking down. Instead, we just go from hey there is a zombie to skip forward one episode and the military already killed almost everyone, yet there aren't any swarms/walkers to be seen, and presumably after next episode it will just be the west-coast walking dead, except with characters no one cares about? The writers should be ashamed as the pretty much had a slam dunk show here and failed miserably.

I think it's interesting that they're setting up the little group of survivors to be sort of evil, with the Guatemalan Torture Guy and Black Tyler Durden as anti-Dales.

Show is horrible. Acting is horrid, as is the story, as is the characters they chose to follow, as is...

TWD cant get back on fast enough. For Crists sake I even watched 10 minutes of the strain the other night on OnDemand... GAH!

A book I read had slow zombies take over because the government dropped daisy cutters on the initial outbreak, which then made the virus airborne (anyone who breathed it got sick and reanimated). Then they tried some biological weapon on them, but it failed and made more zombies.

That sort of story is somewhat feasible. The walking dead zombies winning is not. It would be like the Patriots losing to a Pee Wee football team.

Guess I'm one of the few who like these characters better than the ones in TWD.

Because it hasn't even been two full weeks I don't think, and all their original plans were for "some sort of outbreak needing contained", not necessarily for the zombie apocalypse.

And the military isn't being "over run". The military is breaking down. Remember, the military is made up of people not robots.

It was easy because they were fast zombies.
Freakin' Fast Zombies! They were like the Usain Bolt of zombies!

Exactly. I can't believe most don't understand this. We know it's a zombie outbreak. But if this were actually happening, we wouldn't think it was a zombie outbreak. The vast majority of us would behave just as the people on this show.

Again I was pretty hammered watching this but what skill set did Black Tyler Durden say the druggie had?
Don't think he specifically said except that he was a heroin addict, which was the best kind of addict. I took that to mean Nick had experience doing whatever it took to get what he needed.

I'm with you. HERESY!

his exact words were that he "understood the value of necessity". that's his best skill

i watched the last episode again last night. Its even better than i thought the first time through. there's so many levels of distrust here, that's the common theme through the entire episode.

when you watch the scene where the nat'l guard guys go into the library and get ambushed, you're led to believe that they got smoked or overrun by zombies. However, given that the one dude says "he's not coming" referring to the major, it could also have been a planned ambush on his own troops. I mean in the end times situation they are in, it wouldn't be inconceivable for a power tripping military guy to try to set up a kingdom where he's the top dog ala the Governor, who murders, rapes, tortures at will to achieve his ends. He can't do that in the Nat'l Guard structure, so lets thin the herd and set up my own cartel. I'm not so sure the Major is dead and I suspect we'll be running into his group in season 2.

we're at the point now where society has completely broken down, but the main characters don't yet understand it fully. The last episode will show the final realization.

Have not watched since ep 2. Is the show still horrible, or are they still walking up to the zombies and offering them help, and were they finally able to tell the kids about it instead of pretending like nothing has happened?

So LA has a population of around 10 million people? Where the #### is everybody? Where the #### are all the zombies?
Well, in this little suburb it appears they're either dead or trapped in teh arena.
I assume we see napalm next week when the arena gets opened
I think we'll see our friend bust open one of the arena doors. He'll beat cheeks back to the front gate of the neighborhood with 2000 walkers in tow. The Army guys will all be called to the gate for defense, while Travis and co sneak out the back.Take that to the bank bromigos

People really thought we were going to see scenes in the sit room at the White House when they made decisions to fire bomb towns????....yeah now that I say it that sounds pretty cool. :(
