Very solid, once again an all star lineup of musicians.

Billy Sheehan!
Saw Billy a couple times - once playing with Yngwie Malmsteen and once with Paul Gilbert and Mr. Big opening for Rush.Billy Sheehan!
Will not question that statement at all.Gilbert is one of my all time favorites and Sheehan is an absolute monster on the bass.Saw Billy a couple times - once playing with Yngwie Malmsteen and once with Paul Gilbert and Mr. Big opening for Rush.
Sheehan and Gilbert are two of the best musicians that ever played
I could listen to Hessian Peel on a loop too. Love the the drums on that one and the crescendo to metal bliss midway through the song.Heir Apparent is an awesome song.

Something a little more recent-Viking KongWhen I watch this it makes me want to quit playing the guitar.
Speaking of vikings...Something a little more recent-Viking Kong
Since you brought up Yngwie this came to mind right away.
I saw Yngwie from the front row about a week and a half ago. Didn't play this, though.Speaking of vikings...
classically trained to rock your ####### socks off
That "Viking" tour was cool because that was the first decent singer that ever recorded with Yngwie.I saw Yngwie from the front row about a week and a half ago. Didn't play this, though.![]()
I got some great pics and a few picks. A pretty good video as well. As a wannabe shredder for years, Yngwie is a legend. Don't care about most of his songs, I just want to watch him blaze for 90 minutes.
Reminds me of this quote from Reddit:

Doh. Sounds like it was disappointing.https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=o7T37Kwc4Ds
Here's the video I shot. Random 2:30 shot mid-show and it managed to capture playing with his posterior, some half-hearted guitar tosses, pick flips, and shredding. A great microcosm of the show.![]()
Not at all. It was everything I was expecting.jdoggydogg said:Doh. Sounds like it was disappointing.
During tv ads I flip over to the metal channel on my cable box just to keep up with some of the newer stuff.![]()
I am starting to feel my age. I checked out a list of best metal albums of the year, and could maybe listen to 3 of 20?
I knew the names of about 10 of the Top 25 bands for 2017. Had heard music from about 5. #oldAF![]()

This list is pretty good. Did you try this one?![]()

That was the exact one I looked at.jdoggydogg said:This list is pretty good. Did you try this one?
It's hard to pick up new stuff for me. If it's too derivative (The Sword), well, I already own stuff like that. If it's too simple and dreary (Behemoth), that's not my style, and if I can't stand the vocals (Cannibal Corpse), then I can't get into. That was the exact one I looked at.![]()
ETA: if not the same one, it is very similar and I recognize all the albums.
The Sword rules......at least their first two releases do.It's hard to pick up new stuff for me. If it's too derivative (The Sword), well, I already own stuff like that. I think this is my metal AotY.I knew the names of about 10 of the Top 25 bands for 2017. Had heard music from about 5. #oldAF

extra points for the guitarist wearing a Voivod teeI think this is my metal AotY.
I need to see Death Angel live again. They're playing in San Francisco late December.2016 was a much better year for metal, Gojira, Megadeth, Testament, death angel, metallica all put out albums
I heard that a few times on Sirius and it always grabs my attention.I knew the names of about 10 of the Top 25 bands for 2017. Had heard music from about 5. #oldAF

I haven't seen them do a neg review. I'm guessing part of their charm is their positive attitude.jamny said:Lost in Vegas guys liked Roots Bloody Roots but weren't enthusiastic about Max's vocals.
Has anyone seen a video of a song they really disliked?
If you don't own it and want more good Cavalera, check out Soulfy's Conquer.psychobillies said:Yep. Went and got the album after you posted. You're not wrong.
Seeing them live for the first time in Oakland this coming March
I've got that. The Cavalera boys are all time greats, I just didn't know they had a new record out.If you don't own it and want more good Cavalera, check out Soulfy's Conquer.
I apologize for continuing to pimp Gojira, but here I go again:Lets share cuts and/or bands that we really like that not be mainstream or under the radar...
They're f**king awesome live. Robb Flynn can work a crowd like few other front men in rock. You'll be ready to run through a wall by the end of the show.Seeing them live for the first time in Oakland this coming March![]()
