***OFFICIAL*** FFA MLB Draft (2 Viewers)

I'm taking David Wells with my last pick. Is he still available?
Great pick Nipsey.Wells cements your staff and provide suitable relief if Young ever gets tired.

It's beyond me how anyone will ever beat your team

You are not alone in that thought. My PM box is jammed everyday with this exact phrase. Even people not in the draft have taken the time to shoot over a PM. They don't have to do that, but they do.

Wells is a very average pitcher. He's stuck around long enough to get over 200 wins, but his numbers aren't anything to get worked up over.BTW, I never commented on this before, but why do some of you keep saying you have a "short list?" Who cares if it's short? It's all about the girth.

He's a lefty, knows how to pitch in Yankee stadium. I could have taken a deadballer or an old HOF'er, but didn't want to. I'll take him for my last pick, guy won't pitch much anyway. My "02" cents. (get it? "02")

It is a good pitch. As clutch - and fat - as they come.

:sarcasm:
:wall: GD taking things literally on this board.
You'll learn to sniff out the subtleties of life, the older you get, son.

Last Resort - I like your team. You have some real mashers there. However, is it possible you have the slowest team in this draft? Collins and Reese are the only guys in your starting lineup that can run and Lange is the only guy off the bench. Does this concern you?

I guess living here in the backwoods has changed me. Everyone's straight-forward down here. I guess I'd have to move back to the suburbs to reacquire the skewed outlook on life that is almost a requirement for this board.

I guess Billy Beane would be proud of my team.Simmons can run a bit, too. However, I think having one or two true base stealers in my lineup is enough. If Reese was a little faster, he'd be batting 2nd, but Boggs is a far better hitter, though.Plus, I think having Lange and Vizquel in my bench can help alliviate my speed problems. Both of them will be in a platoon position with Albert Belle and Pee Wee Reese respectively.

Nah, there are plenty of hicks on the board that keep up just fine. I'm going to stick with the age thing....

Good answer.New question. Isn't Busch stadium a bigger park? Are you concerned at all about Al Belle, Simmons and Ruth being able to patrol the OF of Busch? Did you take this into consideration during the draft?

Guys,Check out this site. It's a really cool new concept for fantasy baseball. Bogart is already involved in this but one of the owners has given me an opportunity to put together a BETA mock as well.Basically, it's fantasy baseball and a baseball sim combined. You design a ballpark. You sign your players (in a blind bidding process) and the game itself is based on real stats. And it isn't just an accumulation of stats for points. You play H2H with other teams and the real life stats are used in formulas to determine the outcome of the game. For example, there are weightings assigned to specific spots in the batting order (i.e. a double from a leadoff guy gets a 25% boost). This is too difficult to explain here so check out the site. The BETA is for the free agent blitz process. If we want to continue into the regular season, we'll have to pay $20 per team (1/2 of the normal price). We'll also have to agree to document the process in a message board forum. I figure we can use the Tangent forums for that.I'd like to get at least 12 teams and preferably 16 for the league. I'm up for running the thing and we can decide if we want to make it a cash prize league later.Anyone interested needs to send me a PM with their full name and email addy so I can get you set up.

Simmons can cover some ground. Belle's not bad either. Tuth ain't chop liver, but he ain't great either. Patrolling the OF isn't really too big of a deal. The past few years, besides Jim Edmonds, the Cards have employed some very mediocre defensive OF's, like Pujols and Reggie Sanders. They've done fine.Busch isn't really too big (it's 402 feet to center field and 330 in both corners). Pretty standard if you asked me, although McGwire owned the park in his stint with the Cards.

yeah, that was pretty much out of left-field.

Sammy - Your team is considered by many pundits (GWB) to be the favorite in this thing. Your lineup has it all: speed, power, obp. Not to mention the fact you play in Tiger Stadium. When you look to the pitching rotation I would say you're solid, but by no means overwhelming. Seeing that you'll be playing half of your games in Tiger Stad., are you concerned that you'll be on the losing end of a number of 7-5 ballgames?Signed, TigerzFan492
