4,000 posts & 116 pages.
hey Funk, you gotta check out VDIV.....I just took Dane Iorg in the 19th round.....He ROCKS!!!!!!
:X Time to mail that summbich in. Could it take longer?
I don't know how much longer it could take.....I know I am down to just pitchers, but hell if I know who to take. Why did Jeff Zimmerman have to get hurt???

As much fun as we have picking on Larry for his current player bias...Harrier isn't far behind with this group...Bags, Chipper, Piazza, and Bonds

I think we have made 3 picks in the last 18 hours or something. My next draft pick will be M. Rivera. Seeing as this draft will easily last until next year, he should be eligible. Correct?

yup..he's probably been the worst at it actually.

And like Larry did with Thomas, he tried to pass off Piazza as better defensively than he really is.

I never said Thomas was good defensively, I said he was a good batter... that's it...

I'm staying out of this one today.....

Did UCONN really say he wont be around until 1? These last two days have crawled. I dont mind it going slow, but this is getting ridiculous. (watch, now I will be delayed 4 hours for my next pick. )

Question for everyone - I am trying to find out more information on Joe Medwick's defense, and other nuances in his game. As I mentioned before, unlike the NBA draft, it is not easy to find good extended commentary on a player. The numbers are there, but most everything focuses on offense and weird stories. I know he led the league in Fielding at least one year... but I cant tell you how good his arm was, range, etc (and the grades on whatif dont always seem to make sense, especially with older players. They seem penalized because they had small gloves, even though the sim takes into account different standards to judge hitters from different eras). I am sure that this is true with many older players, on many of our teams. If anyone has a good link, it would be appreciated. Thanks.

Doug B selects, Catcher Ernie Lombardi.
Son of a. . . I can't catch a break on catchers here
I've been feeling this way all draft long. NOBODY I expected to fall an extra round has fallen..
Who were you targeting, out of curiosity?I have had a few key players fall to me when I took a chance. Namely Harbetty and Griffey. Mostly Harbetty though, since OF is a position that is very deep... even some modern players out there still that could do ok in that spot.

"Medwick was known for having an excellent first step which made up for his average speed. Showed tremendous instincts for taking the correct route for running down line drives into the gap. An above average arm but extremely accurate he could routinely cut down runners at 3rd base. Overall, Medwick is the best homosexual, cross-dressing outfielder in the history of Major League Baseball."

-- I was surprised to see Rickey Henderson go at 23rd overall. I was thinking of him as a third- or fourth-rounder.-- I was surprised to see Spock go Koufax-Ryan-Carlton with his first three picks. Thought especially that Ryan would drop. Also thought Randy Johnson would make it to my third -- or even fourth.

-- Missed Ken Griffey, Jr. by two picks in the fourth. Glad to have Tim Raines, but at the time it was a major adjustment in strategy for me.

-- I thought Clemente, Bench, Al Simmons, or Whitey Ford would make it to me in the fifth. Nope.

-- Thought A-Rod would keep dropping a little more, and so passed on him in the fifth.

-- Thought Yount would be a nice consolation prize in the sixth ... nope.

-- Thought I'd go a different direction after my top SS were gone by taking Ferguson Jenkins in the sixth. Denied.

-- Thought Appling, Paul Waner, Robin Roberts, or Gaylord Perry would be there in the seventh. Nunca.

-- Thought Drysdale and Guidry would be there in the eighth

-- Thought Barry Larkin, Blyleven, George Davis, or Jim Bunning would be there in the ninth.

-- Thought Vida Blue or Luis Tiant would be there in the tenth.

-- Thought Ted Simmons, Sam McDowell, or Early Wynn would be there in the eleventh.

If I had been thinking a little faster, I'd have asked UCONN to PM me his pick after he posted Ernie Lombardi for me. He picks twice before I pick again, so he could've done it in confidence.Oh well.

That is great info (and I wish I knew where you got it! abstract?) Now I wish I drafted Piazza. Medwick was going to hit 7th (having decent power but hitting tons and tons of doubles), but maybe he should go in the, errr, 2 hole.

I'm here. Looking for a list/picks that have been made then I'll pick real quick and get Cappy a list for my next one.

I was travelling last night and just have a small break now. Tried to work up a list before I left but couldn't get caught up. my bad.

"Medwick was an amazingly intelligent player despite having ridden the short bus to school as a child. A lesser known fact about Medwick is that he slept in the same bed with his parents until he was 21."

No problem ... I just meant that I had missed the opportunity to make the offer.

Is anyone tracking this thing in Excel? If so, PM me and I'll send you my email addy. I'd like to get started on entering some of the rosters in OOTP since I'll have to do it manually (i.e. import each player individually).TIA
