Wahoo Sam Crawford. One of the first great sluggers.

OF, LH

1899-1917

Crawford was one of the best sluggers of his era, hands down. Crawford retired as the American League career leader in home runs, extra-base hits, total bases, RBI, and triples. From 1910 to 1915 (when he was 30-35 years old), Sam led the AL in games played, total bases, RBI, extra-base hits, and triples. He was second in homers and hits, third in runs created, fourth in slugging, and batted .320 for that six-year stretch. He ranked that high while Ty Cobb, Tris Speaker, Home Run Baker, and Joe Jackson were in their prime. His total of 643 RBI from 1910-1915 were 118 more than his closest rival in the American League! Somehow however, it took a campaign by Cobb to get his teammate into the Hall of Fame.

Full stats coming
Nice. I considered him for a long time cause of all the triples he hit.

Thanks. He will be perfect to platoon with Medwick. Triples are -1 in Ebbets, but if I am at a +1, or 2.. or THREE triples park, I dont care who is on the mound, Wahoo Sam will be in there. His HoF numbers are often top 20, he is talked about as a top 10 outfielder. Once again, would love to know more about his D.

"Crawford was nicknamed Wahoo Sam after his birthplace, Wahoo, Nebraska. A former barber, Crawford started out with the Cincinnati Reds in 1899 and hit a then-astounding total of 16 HR in 1901. In 1903 he jumped to the Tigers and led the American League in triples with 25. What is often forgotten about Crawford was his power to drive the ball over fences as well as between fielders; he hit 97 career HR, and at his retirement held the AL career record with 70. In 1908, Crawford became the only player in baseball history to lead both leagues in homers.

Although they disliked each other, Cobb and Crawford worked closely together on the bases. Cobb, either by steals or by a triple, would often be standing at third when Crawford came to bat. Crawford was often walked. Crawford would jaunt easily to first and then, on cue from Cobb, switch into high gear and take off for second. At the same time, Cobb would break for home. "Sometimes they'd get him," Crawford would later recall, "sometimes they'd get me, and sometimes they wouldn't get either of us." "

Once again, would love to know more about his D.
Disgusting.
haha. that bad, eh? I dont mean whatif numbers either. Looks like he will be coming out of games late then.
I think Pickles read your "D" as "Once again, would love to know more about his (insert a nickname for Richard).
Turns out his defense sucks too.
But his offense rules. I have NO idea how that would play out in the sim. But I hear he can pitch 400 innings, too.

I can pitch 400 innings too. Average number of batters per inning will be around 22.

Is that new? I managed the Noahs at Larchmont for a short time (noahs bagels). Had some friends not far from there either. And ate at Popeyes on... shoot.. I dont remember the street. By the club smalls (well, was smalls like 5 years ago)

Very low in carbs....healthy eating....gotta stay in shape. If I don't look a certain way, "I don't get paid".
that's fine, but mushrooms? :yucky:
Really? Who doesn't like mushrooms? Very low in carbs and great in/on so many foods.BTW...I've cut the carrots and mushrooms, carrots are boiling and oven is preheating. I'll pull out my turkey burgers next and season them, then bake them w/ the mushrooms. I'll add the carrots to the oven after they've boiled a bit.....

I don't know how new but it's down the street from Noah's onthe other side of the street. Are you talking about the popeyes at Melrose and Vine?

Hmmm, yeah, yeah I guess it might be Melrose. Not quite out in Larchmont, but on the way - I lived on Sierra Bonita

OK, everything is going. Turkey burgers have been seasoned (salt/galric/olive oil/pepper) and have been put into the over, along w/ the mushroom. Once the carrot soften a bit, we'll add them to the oven for the last 7-8 minutes.

Also, I need to wager on the Cavs-Kings game. Anyone have an opinion? Kings are -7.5 at home. Nine minute until i have to place the bet.

Not to be a cooking snob, but next time steam the carrots...you'll save some nutrients
