In a word yes, however, there are really only a couple teams that I see that can hold my lineup to 5 or less runs in Tiger stadium on a consistent basis. I think my pitchers can shut those lineups down. I should also benefit from the fact that pitchers are batting, giving my pitchers at least a little break whereas there is no break in my lineup. My staff's also deep enough that if need be I can go pinch hitter early. As much heat as I'm going to take for Niekro and Sutton they are low-WHIP, low BB, relatively low HR, high K pitchers (especially for the seasons I get in the Sim). The other guys are decent enough.I think that's one of the flaws with going pitching early in this thing though. Unless you can grab 2 guys who can shut teams down, most of the other guys are pretty even. I viewed SP a lot like 1B...there is talent at the top (the top 10), but its deep enough that you don't have to chase. I'm really only concerned with the 2 Johnsons, Koufax, Maddux, Mathewson, Young, Pedro, and Grove coming in and shutting me down. I believe my lineup should be able to make up the differences on all the other guys (and if it can't it was fun anyways) Plus it's a nice bonus that Williams hit more than 10% of his HRs there.Sammy - Your team is considered by many pundits (GWB) to be the favorite in this thing.Your lineup has it all: speed, power, obp. Not to mention the fact you play in Tiger Stadium. When you look to the pitching rotation I would say you're solid, but by no means overwhelming. Seeing that you'll be playing half of your games in Tiger Stad., are you concerned that you'll be on the losing end of a number of 7-5 ballgames?Signed, TigerzFan492
Infomail sent to everyone that expressed interest and then some.INGuys,Check out this site. It's a really cool new concept for fantasy baseball. Bogart is already involved in this but one of the owners has given me an opportunity to put together a BETA mock as well.Basically, it's fantasy baseball and a baseball sim combined. You design a ballpark. You sign your players (in a blind bidding process) and the game itself is based on real stats. And it isn't just an accumulation of stats for points. You play H2H with other teams and the real life stats are used in formulas to determine the outcome of the game. For example, there are weightings assigned to specific spots in the batting order (i.e. a double from a leadoff guy gets a 25% boost). This is too difficult to explain here so check out the site. The BETA is for the free agent blitz process. If we want to continue into the regular season, we'll have to pay $20 per team (1/2 of the normal price). We'll also have to agree to document the process in a message board forum. I figure we can use the Tangent forums for that.I'd like to get at least 12 teams and preferably 16 for the league. I'm up for running the thing and we can decide if we want to make it a cash prize league later.Anyone interested needs to send me a PM with their full name and email addy so I can get you set up.

Which year did you get for Niekro? He had a few seasons where he gave up a lot of taters.I should have wrote my pitchers are good enough to keep my team in the game instrad of shut the other team down.

Both solid, low HR years. That's a nice plus, I'd say 69 is Niekro's 2nd best year to 74. I was thinking you might get stuck with 79, which isn't so hot. (41 hrs, 113 walks)Your Sutton comment is spot on. Very consistent guy.I got 1969 which is arguably his best year, but he didn't pitch as many innings that year as some other. I think 79 and 74 were his two best in the sim which I guess you can't really argue about, but for my purposes 1969 is the best. They also gave me 71 for Sutton which is fine...he has a lot less variation.
I'll allow it, but Mimi is definitely Round 8 material.I love this pick but not sure if Pickles will allow it.Good that's how it should beOf course.Must they be natural to qualify?"Milkers" draft:1.01 KMMimi Rogers?

Yeah, your rotation is great. It'll be really interesting to see if the really great pitchers make a big difference against all of these awesome lineups. I would think they would. That's why I think my team will gut crushed in a sim against your teams. You also have a pretty dang good lineup and a solid bench. I think I would take your entire team over Sammy's or Last Resort's. I think over a season, that depth on the bench and at pitching will definitely be to your advantage. I wish everyone posted their teams on their signature because its so easy to see how things are panning out.I just started looking at teams not just as a lineup or rotation, but in terms of how a real baseball season unfolds.I was thinking particularly with Sammy's team being discussed. If you go into a 3 game series, you know you will face 1, 2, 3 great pitchers, or good pitchers, or guys you think are not so great. And you look first to that pitching matchup. Then you take into account how the teams will set a lineup. Day to day, this should be a lot of fun to watch.Personally, I did not want a weak link in my rotation and tried to draft accordingly. Curious if that will pan out, or if really good pitchers taken rounds later would be the way to go. I will say there are some pitchers out there even now that would be pretty good to start. Although, some of the top 30 and especially 10-15 pitchers of all time certainly will have an advantage over the rest, I would think. (I could be wrong!)
Done.I may actually add information about my team later, too.I wish everyone posted their teams on their signature because its so easy to see how things are panning out.

My baseball philosophy is always pitching first. There are so many good offensive weapons, you have to be a DAMN good pitcher to be a difference maker in this game. You need to be able to strike guys out, not give up too many walks or hits. You need to be dominating because good might get crushed. As far as my draft, it was the opposite of the NBA draft. Aside from not getting stupid and playful early (good for chicks, bad for drafting), no one I wanted dropped to me in that draft. Here, guys I thought would be long gone were still there, and better yet, at the positions I still needed. Got a bit lucky in that respect. I wanted to get a lot of pitching (Seaver might be my fav. pick, where he was) - but I will admit my lineup is considerably strong than I thought it would be after going pitching first. It'll be really interesting to see if the really great pitchers make a big difference against all of these awesome lineups. I would think they would.

Seriously Koya, I wouldn't bring up the NBA draft. Seriously.I am proud of both my rampant flailing rants in religion and politics threads, along with my great baseball drafting abilities. And poor basketball drafting abilities.
