***OFFICIAL*** FFA MLB Draft (1 Viewer)

Spill it, Nipsev. Who is the VP nom?
The Worm, Dennis Rodman.
Sigh. And here I thought you were in the know. I should have known better. You weren't able to deliver a free pizza (no pun intended) so why would I have expected you to know this? :sadbanana:
I really know, but now that I've built it up you may be dissapointed. You haven't named the person yet and it's an actor. I won't ruin it for you.

Errors do too :hot:
This is a big reason why in future sims, I really, really, really want to be able to pick the season used. Going strictly with "third season only" prevented us from making decisions based on factors such as defense.Heck, really I'd rather just pick any season with no restrictions. To keep the Brady Andersons out of an all-timer draft, we could impose minimum statistical standards of some kind.
That's not a bad idea.
While I'm trolling for ideas, what do you think of holding out for 24 drafters, taking time as needed to get a full set?Another idea while I'm on a roll -- teach everyone drafting to sim-fish up front, before the draft starts. Make WIS's stats more or less the default research tool everyone uses to construct their team.

I actually enjoyed the WIS sim, with all its quirks. I also enjoyed the All-Time MLB draft here on the FFA. It would be uber-cool to come up with a way to more closely mesh the two ideas together.
am I invited???
NO
wait... UCONN = Harrier??Otherwise... who asked you? (hint: nobody...)
For winning this one,
Quoting this for when he loses in the playoffs.
I already said I'd likely lose in the playoffs. With 8 teams in there, I don't think my chances are any better than 25%. What's the surprise here?

Wow, active today. Dont any of you drink on a friday afternoon/evening?Also, I dont get the man hate from UCONN. I'm crushed.

congrats to Funkley on a great race this season. You called it a two-horse race early, and you were right. Just got through today's boxscores and I think I got every single bounce possible.

I filed a protest last week. No way is Randy Johnson this bad. I expect to hear back in a day or two, and have 8 wins added to my record (due to 8 really bad starts by him..did you see him last night? No way is he that awful). :own3d:

I'm 4 back of Funkley for worst non Hijacker record in the NL, with 4 vs LB and 4 vs Colome remaining on my schedule. . . . . I don't no weather I should laugh or cry

Pickles your going down in Round 1. Down I say...BTW one decent way to get around some of the sim-fishing next time, may be to just set a salary cap limit. That would discourage the drafting of some of the dead-ball era pitchers and some of the juiced hitters. It wouldn't have to be much lower than the past draft. I think I was somewhere around $210 million, so you could set it at say $180 million and be done with the whole thing. You want Brady Anderson's one great year, fine, but try fitting it under the salary cap. Granted this wouldn't solve the Quantrill problem, but it would solve most of the other sim- :fishing: problems. It would also allow you to craft your team more.

You gave me the idea of going with an individual player salary limit. No more than 8 or 9 million, say.Haven't put pen to paper ... just an idea.

I really don't think this would solve any of the problems... I may be wrong butthe 2 main problems were:1. Some all-time greats had less than steller 3rd years

while

2. Some less than all-time greats had steller 3rd years resulting in sim-fishing.

I personally think number 1 is a more of a problem than 2 though 2 get more "pub" since the Quantrill debacle. A flat salary cap would at least solve some of the problems of both of these. You could at least choose what year you wanted. If it's a bad choice at least you made it. It would also get rid of most of the dead-ball era pitchers if we forced at least 4-man starting staffs.

The only thing it won't do is sim-fishing for cheap great years (Quantrill will still be great). I really haven't thought of anything yet that would solve that though.

Why is Capella out for Draft 2? I liked the random year rule we had discussed a couple of hundred pages back. I don't think we hashed out the details but if you ended up with a random season from the guys career (maybe 1st - 6th) that would certainly keep the fishing down.

This is something I suggested some... well.... 400 pages ago? I think taking a random year, say #3-6 of some guys career would help re: Simfishing.Perhaps with some tweaks, like eliminate years without enough innings or AB's or something so you dont get stuck with a flukey #4th best year.

Doug - are you heading up the charge for season two, still?

We can agree to dispense with the third-year deal, right? I was going off the tacit assumption that we'd not be locked into a particular WIS season going forward, but instead some other kinds of as-yet-unspecified restrictions might be in place (e.g. minimum career statistical standards, maximum individual WIS salary).

The way to get "rid" of sim-fishing is to encourage everyone to sim-fish: that is, to show all drafters ahead of time how to use WIS.com as a data source, and what to look for in that data.

It is truly an epic, never to be matched in the FFA again.

Word. Now, get Kip Wells on my team, beotch. He's going to oVVn this year. :boxing:
Game Day update? How's that league going?
I'm already down 0 to -1.4. Manny Ramirez got me negative points to start out - is that a bad sign? I've got Pedro throwing at 1pm CT, hopefully that will at least put me into the positive.

What do you get negatives for? K's?

K's, errors, GIDP, maybe some other stuff - I'm not sure. Also, your opponent can choose to "pitch-around" an opposing player in the lineup. This give a -20% to their fantasy points and gives a +25% boost to the next player in the batting order. My opponent chose to pitch around Manny and give the bonus to J. Burnitz. My order:

Crawford

Figgins

Chavez

Ramirez

Burnitz

Konerko

I-Rod

Rowand

K. Matsui

The better question is...why are you listening to nipsey. :fishing:
Because Nipsey speaks the truth. When the Jackhammer calls on you, you'll understand.
:fishing: Without my spirited leadership, this thread is nothing more than Nipsey and Koya arguing over Lefty Grove and Cy Young.
You've just offended the rest of the hard working people that have made this thread what it is. Shame on you.
