I am guessing Checo has not read the fine print yet:

RBR Daily

@RBR_Daily

Checo says the next two races don't matter for his future with the team"I don't understand why there is so much talk about me and my future. Nothing is going to change these two weekends, even if I win the race or even if I finish last. I have a contract with the team and I am going to fulfill it."

Hungaroring 2021

What the hell is going on, everyone in pit at restart except Hamilton

:lmao:

Mercedes really ####ed that one up

Ended up being a fun race to watch. Alonso did a great job holding Hamilton up - I think that allowed Ocon to win in the end. If Hamilton get by Alonso 1-2 laps sooner, I think he would have challenged for the win.

Whatever happened to Sinn Fein? His profile comes up as not available which seems kind of serious.

If you're still around as an alias drop me a DM.

That sounds like a guy that has called in the Carlos Slim favor.

Good riddance imo…

Lets just say, he fought the law, and the law won.

The last couple of race weekends before the break are usually prime silly season but it looks like another quiet weekend and I'm blaming Carlos Sainz for that.

Maybe Haas will announce Ocon tomorrow. That seemed terrible when first rumored but I've warmed to the idea. He's an upgrade over KMag and the team is less politically charged than Alpine.

As much as I liked (still like) Guenther - Haas are showing decent race pace this season. As long as Ferrari get the next generation of engine right - there are worse teams out there.

I’m going to take credit. Added Nico to my fantasy team about 5 races ago.

The rumored technical relationship with Toyota is intriguing for a team that has underinvested in infrastructure.

What would have had to happen to get Danny ric back in a rb seat? Other than being better.
I would guess Ricciardo is probably 3rd choice at best right now:

Checo - will probably be out after Spa - unless Carlos Slim makes a donation
Lawson - apparently had a good session at Silverstone
Tsunoda - better driver at VCARB
Ricciardo - meh.

He was backup driver there last year so it was maybe poor timing.

Thats how he got the seat at the Baby Bulls.

I think the Carlos Slim factor is overrated. RBR has Mexican sponsors on the car but they've already paid. It's possible but unlikely the partners have contractual terms entitling them to compensation if Perez isn't in the car.

Ricciardo hasn't done anything since his return that would indicate he'd be a significant upgrade over Checo. Unlike Lawson, he has no seat or sim time in the RB20. I still think Max' next teammate will be Lawson but don't know if it'll be at Zandvoort or 2025.

I just like the guy, he's chaos. World needs another ric podium imo

Just read a plausible argument for giving Checo's seat to Ricciardo:

It effectively boils down to this - Ricciardo would be better than Checo for the rest of this season (maybe). But then Lawson and Yuki could compete directly head-to-head in the VCARBs for the Red Bull seat in 2025 if Ricciardo bombs.

A podcast I was listening to was basically saying Lawson should get the seat regardless. Yuki is a Honda driver, RB is going away from honda in '26(?), so might as well see what Lawson has because Danny Ric is not the future. They even mention getting Hadjar from F2 into VCARB next year. Basically, RB should see what they have in the future and not waste time on Ricardo or Yuki.

A Yuki-Hadjar combo would be tremendous team radio content.

If Hadjar goes on to win the F2 championship and Red Bull doesn't put him in a race seat, then the whole Red Bull Juniors program looks like a fraud. No Red Bull affiliated driver has won F2 in the current incarnation of the series. Ferrari and Mercedes took care of their academy drivers when they won the championship.

So you are saying there's a chance

Orange Team chemistry gonna be great now

Piastri should repay his "teammate" accordingly moving forward.

Cannot wait to hear Verstappen comments post-race lol.

At least there is a Lewis podium. #200!!!

When you consider the ultimate margin between Landon and Lewis how stupid was it to give Landon that undercut? Foster a bunch of bad will in what should be a big team moment.

Anyway everybody but Sainz on the top step now right?

The more I think about this race, the more its clear that McLaren have made a huge mess out of it - and also going forward.

The person(s) most responsible are presumably whomever made the call to pit Norris - which created the undercut. There was no need to cover off Hamilton - who was a non-factor. But, once that mistake was made - the team should have apologized to Piastri, and done what they could to protect Lando.

Lando is the lead driver. Yes, it would have sucked for Piastri - but really, the alternative - which they chose - was to hand Piastri the race because he beat Lando at the start, while Lando was tangling with Max. But, bigger picture - Lando is the lead driver, and the driver who is still in a championship race. As a team, and in the situation the team found itself in today - they should have kept Lando in the lead - to eat into his deficit to Max. 7 point difference could be important by the end of the season.

Instead, you have created unnecessary chaos in the team - for no advantage whatsoever.

No idea what McLaren was doing giving Norris the undercut on the last pit stop. Verstappen wasn't an immediate threat to either of them. Letting the lead driver pit first is F1 race management 101.

Good recovery drive for Perez to finish in the points and quiet the rumors a little.

Lost in all the excitement - Yuki managed a points finish by doing a 1-stop race.

Ricciardo made two stops before Tsunoda made his first.

Yuki was able to hold off Russell and Perez on his first stint and the two Aston Martins on his second. It was a great mature drive for a guy who crashed heavily in Q3.
