Official Great Works Draft (5 Viewers)

Hmmmmm, I don't recall anyone being up in arms that 60 Minutes has to be judged against scripted shows.
Isn't 60 Minutes scripted?
:lmao: :football:
You mean Andy Rooney just says those whacky things off the top of his head without a script?
[andy rooney] did ya ever notice that prunes changed their name to dried plums? Who does the PR for prunes anyway. Back in my day, we didn't have "Public Relations". In fact "Public Relations" could get you arrested.[/andy rooney]Man this stuff just writes itself.

I think ScottNorwood times out at 12:08, Bob Lee Swagger is in class (autoskip), so MisfitBlondes has until 1:08 p.m. EDT to make a pick.

As exciting as all this is, does anyone have any idea where we are in terms of picks?
:drive: So Yankee23Fan threw back Baseball (eligible only for t.v.), but what happened to The Civil War - did DCT keep it?
Yes, I reluctantly acceded to the demands of our intent overlords and moved it to TV.
Actually might be a good decision for you personally; might do better in that cat than it would have in documentary.

Perhaps...

MisfitBlondes and the one I am never remember I spell it right (jaymp?) are on the clock until 1:08 p.m. EDT.

Norwood made his pick 6 minutes after he timed out.

[rant]Scripted/unscripted is inconsequential. It's a regularly running program that has spanned multiple seasons each with multiple episodes. That's a T.V. show. A program that was intended for a one-time, short run (i.e. a miniseries or documentary) is NOT a T.V. show (hence the different name). There's a reason Roots, Lonesome Dove, The Civil War, etc. aren't listed on the T.V. Guide top 50 shows of all time, and it sure as heck isn't because of their quality. It's because they are not considered T.V. shows.

[/rant]
Wait, what category would you put Roots and Lonesome Dove in? Are those supposed to be in movies? Ludicrous. It also seems pretty clear that TV people consider miniseries as TV shows, since they give them Emmys.
:moneybag: This is probably just on me. When I see TV Show I think of what more accurately is a Recurring TV Series.

also... couldn't have been happier to NOT be a part of that ken Burns throw down.
It was especially fun because it was while I was pissed off by something at work at the same time I was pissed off at Krista and Tim.Oh well, serenity now, serenity now!

18.08 Critique Of Pure Reason - Immanuel Kant (Non-Fiction)

One of the most influential works in the history of philosophy.
Not waiting for MfB to make a serious pick? ;)
How is this not serious? It's one of the most discussed plays in professional sports history. Sure, it goes against what most think when they read the category but it's a term that is well known in American Football and deserves to be chosen.
I'm going to go out on a limb and say if you can’t pick a documentary as a documentary, your pick will be overturned.

come onWe all know what PLAYS we're referring to. Let's not muck this up any further.

18.06 - Song - A Change is Gonna Come - Sam Cooke

One of the anthems of the Civil Rights movement, Sam Cooke's best song (which is saying a lot), and it's spawned some amazing covers.

Though only a moderate success sales-wise, "A Change Is Gonna Come" became an anthem for the American Civil Rights Movement, and is widely considered Cooke's best composition. Over the years, the song has garnered significant praise and, in 2005, was voted number 12 by representatives of the music industry and press in Rolling Stone magazine's 500 Greatest Songs of All Time, and voted number 3 in the webzine Pitchfork Media's The 200 Greatest Songs of the 60s.The song is also among three hundred songs deemed the most important ever recorded by National Public Radio (NPR) and was recently selected by the Library of Congress as one of twenty-five selected recordings to the National Recording Registry as of March 2007.

So when you think of "The Immaculate Reception," what comes to mind?
Controversy.

Was on my short, short list. Sam Cooke is the man.
