****OFFICIAL**** Green Bay Packers Draft Thread (1 Viewer)

This is obviously a huge draft for the Packers. Ted Thompson has not done much this off-season and the Packers have needs at virtually every position. Reports indicate if the Packers stay at 5 they will take TE Vernon Davis if he is still on the board.

Thoughts/comments/grades are welcome.

How reliable is hte info that Packer's traded up to pick #2?
I'm pretty sure it may have just been a pipe dream. Besides mentions on two of the local stations, it hasn't been confirmed anywhere.

I'd love to see the Packers trade down and still get Hawk, Davis or Huff. They'd still get a top guy and add another pick. I don't want to see them take a QB. That'd be off-the-charts stupid.

As long as we don't trade down or grab a QB I am happy with any of the top "sure things" regardless of position...we need a lot of help
Agreed. All this "trading down to accumulate picks" talk is scaring me. Maybe we could drop down to #10 and grab a stud like Jamal Reynolds.

Reynolds...what a waste...I'm still upset about that

Davis, Hawk or Ferguson will be there for the Packers. As much as I like Ferguson, I don't want to see the Packers take him since they already have two good tackles. It should end up being Hawk or Davis with Davis the likely pick.

Oh Leinart could be there too.

Stay away from Leinart...We can get a guard in round 2 or 3...same goes for LB...you won't get a TE like Davis...well...EVER...gotta take him

with Leinart still available, what are the chances that Green Bay could trade down? Oakland might be interested, and at #7 the Packers would get at least one of Hawk or Vernon Davis.

I'd be happy with either Hawk or Davis. Both fill huge needs and both have the talent to be difference makers.

I'd still LOVE to see the Packers hold someone hostage and trade down a couple of picks. But if they stay at 5 and take Davis or Hawk that couldn't be argued.

Sounds like the Raiders are comfy at #7.

Guys dont you need a RB or a QB.

Favre is coming back but can he still play in the NFL i doubt it.

At RB you have no NFL talent . ( Gado was a fluke , Green and Davenport are worthless.

You're on crack.Hawk = GREAT pick.

Finally, a face for the Defense.

good info here

It's Hawk. The next Urlacher or Zach Thomas? Perhaps.
I would love this pick that much more... if Bates was still in town. That combo along with Barnett would have been huge.
I absolutely agree with this. I HATED to see Bates go. That could end up being one of the biggest losses this team has.I like the Hawk pick. I agree with Jackson and Kiper -- Hawk has the talent and potential to be the cornerstone of this defense for years to come. For a defense badly in need of a talent upgrade Hawk is a very good addition.

Is this shtick?

Ignore it. It's nice to have something positive to talk about with regard to the Packers. That hasn't often been the case so far this off-season. Hawk's a player and he's going to help this defense a lot.

That was an easy move for Thompson, though. Now the work really begins. I'd LOVE to see the Packers have a shot at Brian Calhoun in the third round.

Maybe they can put Hawk on offense to tackle the guy who intercepts Favre's passes this year
Totally agreed . Too bad that a future HOF like Favre comes back to look like a clown one more year ( last year was his first clown year ).

I would have loved to see a trade of Walker and #5 for Reggie Bush - but seeing as that didn't happen - I think and have always thought that Hawk was the pick for the Pack. For once they have picked in my mind the right player at the right spot! Now will he play OLB or will they move Barnett to outside and put Hawk in the MLB position? No matter where he ends up I think this is a solid gold pick for the Pack!

I love this pick!

My brother works with AJ's dad and I'm already visualizing my matching autographed Ohio State/Green Bay jerseys framed on my wall!

Well done TT!

A rumor I'm hearing. Again just a rumor at this point:

Denver trading the 37th pick for Javon Walker. There have been additional rumors saying Lelie would also be part of this deal. Again, that's just a rumor right now but it is the trade I've been advocating for the past week or so since I think it makes sense for both teams.

I wish something would happen on this front...we need a guard and a WR, we should be able to get both with our 2 2nd rounders...assuming we get another 2nd from Denver

Do the Packers have the DT's to protect Hawk? Even Lewis and Urlacher look average with sub-par DT's.

Not bad, I still believe Lelie will have an excellent career. Not sure if a cold-weather team suits him though...

a.j hawk was huge at the #5 spot for the long-term success of the packers. he was the best player on the baord at that point and he's a difference maker

now we move on to javon walker...anywhere but philly. i'll guess new england before denver

I wonder if the Pack will look at White if he falls that far
Calhoun
please NO!calhoun is not worth a high second round selection. he'll be a decent fit for a team that already has a goal-line guy and could use some speed/3rd down production, but he is not a feature back in the NFL

hopefully the best defensive player available...or lendale white :hophead:
