****OFFICIAL**** Green Bay Packers Draft Thread (1 Viewer)

BTW I think Maurice Stovall is a much better fit for the west coast offense than Chad Jackson. Look for GB to snap him up with 1 of their 2nd rounders.
This would make me happy.

Thompson totally owned by the Patriots. What a loser.
Under the commonly-used draft value chart, for what its worth, picks 52 (380 pts.) and 75 (215 pts.) are worth more than pick 36 (540 pts.). However, if you grade the draft on how sexy the picks look to fantasy football message board armchair GM's, I'm sure Chad Jackson will look better than the guys the Packers get with those picks.
And to a winner by the name of Bill Belichick. I bet as Thompson whipped out his calculator, Belicheck was ROTFLHAO. Thompson probably said to Belichick, 'I outscored you'.

Can Thompson actually use a calculator?

LenDale White should be high on the dynasty radar now. It's a great fit. Brown cannot stay healthy. He knows the offense. Fisher and Chow, both SC guys, will handle him properly. He's not going to bust. He may be SOD at this point.

Colledge OT ...who???
Strengths:

Has a good frame and should be able to add some weight...Is a brilliant pass blocker...Very technically sound...An excellent athlete with great quickness who moves extremely well...Has a nasty demeanor on the field and plays to the whistle...Hard worker who wants to be great...Strong and Explosive...Is a stud in the weight room...Has a lot of experience and consistently grades out very well...Mature with top intangibles...Versatile and can play multiple positions.

Weaknesses:

Needs to add some weight and continue to bulk up for the next level...Must improve as a run blocker...Struggles with massive defenders and can get pushed back...Is still developing and not yet a finished product...Doesn't always play with proper leverage and knee bend...Did not always play against elite competition.

Notes:

Lightly regarded recruit from North Pole, Alaska who entered college at 235 lbs...Very raw coming out of high school and did not play football as a sophomore or junior...Started every game of his college career...Has the physical tools and natural ability to play the critical left tackle position in the pros which is coveted.

Pssible move to guard?

Colledge isn't small (299 pounds) but he lacks real bulk and there are some questions about his lower body strength. But everything I've read says he is a very good offensive line prospects -- some scouts viewed him as a late first-round pick -- and he's tough and mean and a terrific pass blocker. I like this pick quite a bit. I'm hoping for Brian Calhoun with one of Thompson's next couple of picks.

Colledge was a steal - you'll see. He has all the physical tools to be a top LT.

What do you do with Clifton then, move him to guard? Or move Tauscher to G?

I'd prefer to see if Colledge can move to guard since Clifton is already established as a quality offensive tackle. But if not, Clifton could move inside.

For future reference, Colledge is the first pick made as part of the Javon Walker deal.

Yep Nick Collins was a yawner in the 2nd round last year. Just because he's not from a top 20 program doesn't mean he can't play.

At the combine they talked about him projecting out as a guard...other projections since say tackle...we need guard so he is a guard...nice to have both in one guy

I agree 100%. This is what I envisioned after hearing the pick.

I'll believe it when I see it. I can't see them moving Tausch. Maybe, but I gotta see it first.

It turns out I was half-right with my prediction for the Walker trade. I'd been targeting a Lelie/37th pick for Walker move for the Packers and they got half of that. I wonder if Lelie was offered and the Packers didn't want him (seems unlikely though possible) or if the Packers asked and Denver wouldn't part with him in such a deal.

Wonder why TT took Colledge over...Marcus McNeill

If they did't want him...they are truely idiots. We have no WR's right now (assuming Driver really wants out)

Driver doesn't want out. That was a BS report fueled by people in Walker's camp. But I agree the WR position is a MAJOR weakness right now.

Driver does not want out. Both he and his agent have said so. Just J. Walker stirring the pot before he left. Driver and the Pack are talking about upgrading his contract.

You fellas be nice to Daryn, he is from my home town. I watched him play at North Pole High, he was a man among boys. Never allowed a sack in college... Good pick, wish he was going to my Vikes!

Marcus McNeill

Eric Winston

A. Whitworth
McNeill - Back and Neck trouble throughout his college years.Winston - Had a major knee injury in 2004.

Whitworth - Not the best of athletes, struggled at times.
