***OFFICIAL*** Green Bay vs Seattle Season Opener Thread! (1 Viewer)

Can we all just stop the bickering and agree that Seahawks fans are obnoxious because they actually think they are part of the team?
This all day long this. So similar to f'ing TxAggies. It's nauseating that there are two of these fan bases.
Why are you so concerned...or irritated with what others think? Isn't that a silly thing to worry about?
We don't care what others think, we care what others say....over and over. It's obnoxious. There have been other fan bases that have been obnoxious in the past as well, so I'm not saying the Seahawks are the worst of all time. They are just the worst now, but it's kind of expected coming off a super bowl win. It's one thing to be cocky about your team, that's understandable. It's a completely different story thinking that YOU personally have something to do with the team winning the super bowl. It's like there are thousands of little Richard Shermans running around on the Internet posting things.

I wish they had a soapbox emoticon. :grad:

It seems to me you are jealous about the connection the 12's have with their team. I wish every fan base could feel the way the 12's do and get the respect from the players that the 12's do. Its great.

As an old Packer fan, I've gotten to experience that 4 times in the modern era. YOU??

Black and white TVs doesn't really exude a 'Modern Era' vibe. But good for you for figuring out the internet.

They do.

I have yet to see a team that doesn't regularly tell its fanbase through its various media outlets and personnel that they're the greatest fans in the world, and mean it with as much sincerity as the Seahawks do.

Which might be why it's so laughable that SEA fans consistently pretend there's something special about them. There isn't, other than their galling emotional neediness. For the rest of us, looking at you objectively, we see a local business telling its customers, "You guys are the greatest!" And to our shock and disbelief, the entire customer base believes this as if they're three year olds being told about Santa. It's just a bizarre way for adults to act.

Plenty of people out here have been devoted fans of their teams longer than the Seahawks have been a team.

Have you followed the Redskins? They sue their fans. And the local paper.
This is funny but it is sadly true. Back when Jack Kent Cooke owned the team, he said, "WE HAVE THE BEST FANS IN THE WORLD!" And if you are old enough, you will remember at RFK, the Redskins fans were indeed among the rowdiest and loudest fans in the NFL and it was a distinct home field advantage (remember rocking the bleachers?)

Then they moved to Fed Ex, Snyder bought the team and it all went down hill.

So I've known organizational love and organizational disrespect. I'm just hoping it comes around again.

Crazy idea.....let's get back to talking about what should be a really good game instead of having a circle jerk about how great the "12th man" is or isnt.

I saw someone mention earlier that they expected a high scoring game. I hope it's high scoring since I have Wilson and Jordy going tonight (I share b/c you care) but I'm not so sure. The over/under is 46 and the under is 5-0 in Seattle's last 5 home games.

I think it's an interesting matchup of the two best know quantities- Seattle D vs GB Offense and two more unknowns---How much Seattle's offense will really open up with a healthy Harvin and in Wilson's 3rd year vs what many have talked about as an improved Packer D.

How do folks see these matchups playing out tonight?

 no wait, the other :lmao:

Seattle fans; how will the new rules effect the defense? I know they play a very physical style, does the no hand checking policy effect the way they will have to play and in turn give other teams an advantage?

Everyone knows about Seattle's D...what makes them really scary this year is it looks like the offense is poised to take it up a knotch with Harvin healthy and Wilson coming of age.

That said, I still think Seattle is likely to play ground and pound ball control without airing it out too much. It's not a matter of whether Wilson *can* do it...it's a matter if it's the right strategy. Ask yourself this: is it really the best game plan to get into a shootout vs. the Packers? Much better strategy to play good defense, control the clock, and limit Rodger's possessions.

That said, GB will get theirs as well. But I'm looking for a mid-range score, not high, with Seattle winning due to home field advantage and superior D. 20-17. I'll be rooting for the Packers, but my head says Hawks pull it out at home.

These threads are always great. Single SB winners think they are a legacy trolling against other teams with more rings. And I always love the smack between Sho and ITS, it has made for a good week so far. If GB win, I just hope ITS shows up humble, unlike Walter34 who just disappears.

Should be a great game. I'm a Packer Shareholder, and of coarse rooting for them, but am not confident on a blowout win. I still think the D is shakey. Peppers was a good pickup, but there again on the outside of the line. QB's up the middle has been a problem for years, and Wilson is a good as any of them running with the ball.

Fantasy wise, I have to start ARod and Lynch at the same time. I hate those kind of games. Those are the kind that makes me want to quit FF because I'm rooting for the home team and the enemy at the same time. SUCKS.

Hopefully this time the refs play it cool and let the guys play. Good luck (but not so much) to the Hawks.
ZERO chance he shows back up in here if they lose. ZERO

He will be found in the 2nd week game thread trolling there.

Agreed. So the question is can the Packers force Seattle to open it up by scoring early on offense or shutting down the run game with their defense. Or does Seattle surprise some of us really open it up on offense in an effort to get out in front early. I'm not confident in any of these 3 things happening but would not be shocked by any of them either. GB was pretty bad against the run last year and I haven't paid much attention to their off season moves other than adding Peppers. And I know Raji is out again for the year as well. What exactly are people expecting from the Packer D?

Biggest difference to me is the Packers are almost a completely healthy team. They haven't had that for a lot of years coming out of TC. Their offensive line should be vastly better with Bulaga back, Lang/Sitton both a full year into their position switch, and Bakhtiari is no longer a rookie. Lynch is getting a lot of hype going in to this game. I have a feeling that Lacy is going to prove he's not only the better back, but that he might very well be the best back in the league. Manning and Co didn't have that to fall back on in the SB, and Manning doesn't have nearly the arm strength of Rodgers either.

On Defense, the Packers should also be much better. They missed Casey Hayward tremendously last year. Also added Clinton Dix in place of one of the worst safeties in the league. Finally, throw in Julius Peppers as the first legit threat across from Clay Matthews, and I think they will make life difficult on the Seahawks O.

I can't wait to watch football. You guys bicker a lot.
Amen, I have reserved two seats in front of the big screen at my favorite bar (bringing the wife with tonight) so pumped up to have football back. Here's to no one getting hurt tonight, lots of points, and lots of fantasy points for everyone with players going tonight. :banned:

Can they put up points early? Yes.

Will they...I sure as hell hope so because you don't want to try playing catch up against this Seattle team.

They will be relying on Guion and Boyd and another rookie rotation at NT. Daniels came on pretty well last year and looked quite good at DE. Datone Jones will be the other regular DE.

Big thing (and its one of those obvious cliche things)...they have to force some pressure on Wilson...which is hard to do. The secondary has talent, but even with that talent, they can't cover as long as they have been asked to in the past with inconsistent pass rush.

Who knows for sure how much Peppers will fit at OLB...so the Packers D, in essence is a huge question mark until we see it in the regular season.

Preseason they looked pretty good against other team's #1s...but they were not exactly playing great offenses.

I get the sneaking suspicion that either Packers fans or Seahawks fans are going to be in here squawking about the refs after this game. I have to think the increased emphasis on the defensive holdings and PI calls will favor the Packers. I'm betting one of those calls is game changing.

I'm not so much worried about pressure to Wilson as I am to containing him. GB was pretty soft last year to running QBs. I can't wait to see if they fixed that problem.

they ranked 25th in pass defense last season and I'm not so sure they've improved all that much..this has the feeling of a Carroll-esque USC type beatdown where the Hawks just run away and hide with the lead. change is good I'm sure Seattle has worked on new things for the offense to stay ahead of DC's who have had all offseason to figure them out..

GB is going to be really good this season, but this as tough a spot as you'll find for any team..

It's going to come down to stopping the Seahawks on 3rd and long. This has been the Achilles heel for Green Bay since the 4th and 26 days.

It could happen like that. However, the Packers are not the same team they were a year ago. Rodgers/Cobb/Bulaga missed all or large parts of the season on offense. Hayward/Clinton Dix/Peppers are huge additions to the defense. Clay Matthews is back after missing a bunch of games last year. The Packers essentially got rid of most of their defensive line from a year ago. They decided they didn't want to be big, fat and slow up front anymore. Basically last years rankings mean squat at this point. They are walking into a hornets nest to be sure, but all of the key guys for the Packers have plenty of big games under their belt.

Seahawks’ starting secondary played a total of 285 snaps during the preseason and got zero penalties. I am going to bet that GB's secondary has more penalties tonight.

As a fan, I hope they just let both teams play.

Everybody is talking about how GB's center is in for a long night...what about Justin Britt, he's going to have his hands full also.

You keep just listing Clinton-Dix...he isn't even the starter at safety.

Though, Hyde is also an upgrade at S over last year...and HaHa will play in sub packages.

I'm not a Packer or Seahack fan.

I worry the referees have been bought and paid for by the Seahacks. If the Seahacks win fair and square that's ok. If the referees hand the game to them it will be very disappointing start to the season.

Refs have hurt the Hawks a lot more than they've helped them. They just play good, disciplined football. Only team without a defensive hold this preseason.

Yes this is what I do when I fish. I'm more of a Deadliest Catch type of guy. No need to let a little adversity stop your fishing trip. You get your ### in there and fight.

I hate the games where you are rooting for your "real team" and opposing players on your "fantasy team." :kicksrock:
