Any ideas on why Hiro wasn't able to stop time while he and Ando were in hiding in the bathroom? Maybe he can't use his powers around other "special" people??!?

I don't think there was any special reason. I just think it happened too fast and his buddy distracted him by talking to him and pulling on his arm when he was trying. Apparently he needs to concentrate for a few seconds before he can time-stop.

Agreed. I think he just got distracted before he could do it.

He's used his powers around Peter. My guess is he was too freaked out to concentrate sufficiently.

Why is the fact that Claire had a cough as a baby such a huge revelation. Shows that she wasn't born with her ability? Not sure why that would be very important.
From the wikipedia website on Heroes - LinkAs Mr. Bennet sets up a meeting for his daughter Claire with her biological parents, she hopes that questions about her newfound abilities can be answered. When Claire meets with her "bio-parents", they reveal that her biological mother did not want to keep the baby and that there is a medical history of diabetes and cancer in her biological parents families, but nothing that gives her any additional information regarding Claire's special healing abilities. During the meeting, Mr. Bennet receives a call from Eden who relays all the information she learned from Mohinder. Mr. Bennet tells her to bring in Isaac. As Claire's parents leave, Mr. Bennet walks them to their car and thanks them, stating that he doesn't think their services will be required anymore. But while cleaning up, Sandra Bennet reveals to Claire how surprised she was that Mr. Bennet had found her biological parents, since when she was first adopted, the Bennets had frantically tried to find Claire's biological parents to no avail due to an unspecified genetic defect.

* fake biological parents?

Biological parents still unknown?

Great show!

That wasnt the revelation. The revelation was that her parents knew she had some kind of chromosome difference in her and previously searched for her real parents. She knows somethings fishy.
Just an FYI, but Claire's mom knows nothing. I think Claire's dad just fed her some chromosome potential issue as his excuse to find her birth parents. Her mom mentioned that in passing to Claire because she doesn't know anything about Claire's power either. Claire put 2 and 2 together and just realized that her dad does know that she is special and that he setup the meeting to get her to stop looking for her parents.

I don't think so...Claire is still in the dark about her dad's involvement.

Maybe it is just me, but does anyone else think that Nikki is dead? She looked a little pale to me at the end of the episode. At first it seemed like he put his hand into her chest and then at the end he had a hold of her neck. I guess she could just be passed out, but I kept thinking that she might be dead.

She probably isn't, so not a big deal. I definitely think that DL will figure out that it wasn't "his" Nikki that did the bad things because she even confessed to him that she thought she killed the poker players. He waved it off as more framing because obviously he was framed by her.

Also, I think Micah knows what his mom did and said to DL that she was special.

Love the show, seems to be getting better every episode. Not sure where it is going to go after what seems to be the culminating event this season, stopping the destruction of NYC.

I totally missed Hiro in the bathroom, I have no idea what I was doing at that point but missed that 5 minutes of the show.

It makes much more sense now :bag:

Why? Did you see the look she gave her dad when she hugged him at the end? Her reaction to her mom's info and then her non-happy hug definitely said to me that she knew he knew she was special. Not sure if she realizes everything he is doing. Also, don't forget that she said her dad was a simple man to her geeky friend early on, which foreshadowed her realizing that she was wrong about him.

They'll save New York in the season finale, but the übervillain (Sylar?) will escape to wreak havoc in Season Two.

Yeah, I think Claire's reaction to the "sick as a kid" thing was that she was gaining further evidence that there's "something" different about her, that's she's got "something" and maybe trying to research whatever it was that affected her as a baby is a new clue to her. I don't think she put the dad and the fake parents thing together....yet.

Preview to next week - I can't find a video link, but from what I remember...

1. Claire's brother Lyle finds out something about Claire that she urges him not to tell anyone.

Info on Lyle -

Lyle Bennet is the younger brother of Claire Bennet, played by Randall Bentley. He has a stereotypical dislike for his sister. His mother, Sandra Bennet, implied in "Better Halves" that Lyle is a hypochondriac.

Do we know yet if he's adopted as well? Or is he the spawn of Daddy Horn Rims?

For some reason my TiVo missed the last couple of minutes of the show and the previews for next week. Can someone fill me in please?
:hey: anyone?
DL sticks his arm through Nikki and she goes down. He grabs Micah who is reaching for her and leaves. Then neighbor chick goes to Isaac's apartment (Peter is not there) and tells Isaac she is a big fan. You probably saw the conversation with Claire's dad that talked about going to see Isaac. Next they show Nikki on the floor and the announcer is talking about evolution and surviving or perishing. That and the fact that Nikki is not in next week's preview gave me the feeling that maybe she is dead. The preview is kind of all over the place. They show Mohinder holding a Schlage key (sorry but I know the brand of the key), then they show a couple splices, someone holding a photo, the image of the symbol that Isaac rubbed off the top layer of paint, Micah sitting there, a severely burned body getting examined, Peter talking to someone and then a big reveal that the secret is out. They show Nathan saying "what if people knew what we could do" and then show Claire's brother seeing her heal and her telling him not to say anything. After that, they show Hiro and buddy meeting DL and Micah and all of them attempting to save someone from a bad accident on the highway.Hope that helps!

While I don't think she knows everything yet, and how could she know everything her dad is up to. Heck, I don't think she has any clue about other people with powers. What I think she does know is that her dad does know what she is capable of and that he setup that meeting to sooth her. She knows that he was checking into her birth parents because he knew about her special qualities. Not sure about the genetic thing as the chromosome line might have just been to throw some big words at her pretty much clueless mom to make her not think twice about dad looking into the birth parents.

My recording did the same thing. It seems quite a few shows do it too. I wish they would change the programming so those things record 2-3 minutes after the show is "scheduled" to end.

Info on Mr. Bennet - Link

Mr. Bennet, played by Jack Coleman, is known as "Horn-Rimmed Glasses" due to his style of eyewear and the mystery surrounding his character.[1] He first appeared in "Genesis" at the apartment of the late Chandra Suresh in India and followed the man's son, Mohinder, to New York. The adoptive father of Claire Bennet, Mr. Bennet is revealed to be fully aware of her abilities in "Don't Look Back", having apparently stolen the tape that Zach filmed of Claire testing her healing factor powers.

In "Collision" he captured Matt Parkman and recorded the telepathic policeman's brainwave patterns, with help from his associate, the mysterious man Matt saw in "One Giant Leap". Later, Mr. Bennet and his associate kidnapped Nathan Petrelli after finding him in bed with Niki Sanders. In "Hiros" Mr. Bennet ordered his associate to erase the memory of Brody, the student football quarterback who tried to rape Claire. In "Better Halves" Mr. Bennet ordered Eden McCain to keep Mohinder Suresh from going back to India and questioned her about the abilities revealed by the other heroes. He told her Hiro Nakamura's ability to stop time is "cool" and ordered her to bring Isaac Mendez, whom she calls the "precog", into the lab. He is disturbed by Hiro's prediction to Peter Petrelli: "Save the cheerleader," but because the message was shortened he doesn't realize why. In "Better Halves" Mr. Bennet also arranged for his daughter Claire to meet the couple he identifies as her biological parents, Hank and Lisa. Mr. Bennet eavesdrops on her meeting with them from another room. After Hank and Lisa leave the house, Mr. Bennet thanks them for assisting him.

His role in the series is ambiguous: It is unclear if he is trying to stop the characters from using their powers, or if he is trying to protect them from others. As of the 11th episode, Mr. Bennet is scheduled to become a full time character on the series.

------

I'm still trying to figure out his role, but whatever it is must've began a long time ago when he and Mrs. Bennet adopted Claire. Is he trying to stop the heroes? Is he trying to help them? He and the "hollowing guy" what are they trying to do? Questions, questions. This Mr. Bennet character has the most questions. Any thoughts on this guy and his role?

If you do not tivo anything at 10:00 then you can program the recording to tivo how ever many minutes after the show ends. If you tivo something at 10, then you are screwed unless you want to clip the first 2-5 minutes of the 10:00 show. I tivo Studio 60 and Friday night Lights (last night) so I am always able to see the end of HeroesI love this show and to answer a lot of the questions that have been asked, believe that each of these people are only starting to understand what they can do. Like Hiro's buddy said, its a learning process and it is a journey. I cant wait to see how they band together. Does anyone else think that Nikki may be swayed to the Villian side. We have only just caught glimpses of the bad dudes (Claires Dad and partner in crime) and I can defnitely see Nikki being evil and DL being the good guy which is opposite of how they are being portrayed in the first few episodes

This has nothing to do with furthering the plot/character discussion, but Hiro and his friend are hilarious.

"I have a sword?"

And when they are going into the bathroom-

Poker player "You guys go to the bathroom together?"

Hiro's friend "That's how we roll."

:lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

I agree. I also like how they keep the Japanese language throughout their dialogue with subtitles. Does anyone not like that aspect of the show?

Nitpick. Why go into the bathroom for privacy to tell Hiro something in a language no one else at the table understood anyway?

Any guesses as to what Micah's power is before it's revealed?

I think it's super hearing. He always seem to walk in on private conversations, and knows things he's not supposed to know.

It seemed that she was thinking something significant, but there's really nothing that adds up to a conclusion as far as we know. Anyone care to speculate on what she was thinking, beyond what's above? I think she's just suspicious now, not that she knows anything.

To get away from the guy with a gun, first. Secondly, I was thinking that they'd go into the bathroom, hiro would use his powers and take the gun, empty the bullets, or something, and they'd go back in, get money, and leave. I dunno, but it was a reaction on the friends part to get away from the guy with the gun under the table...totally understandable to me.

Was the cowboy gambler with the Linderman crew? Or was he just playing cards with them to cheat them out of money?

Also, how did Nikki know that Linderman's gang was going to be at that location?

Shrug, he's a perceptive kid and might have a perception gift, whether it's super-hearing, mind-reading, or a sixth-sense about things. He's also a genius, so my guess is that it's a combo of super-perception (reading situations) and genius. He knew his father was innocent beyond the typical kid believing in parents deal. He knew, but the mom didn't, and he continued to believe it in spite of what his mother told him. It'd be a shame if nikki was dead...I doubt they'd kill her off that easily, and that uneventfully.

He was associated with the heist somehow, but i doubt he was a crewmember as nikki killed all of them. I think he just helped set it up. The husband said that one of the guys that was part of the original heist knew who this girl was, which associated the gambler guy with nikki. Husband was going to go there the next day to clear his name and find info on this mystery girl, but nikki got up in the middle of the night as her alter ego and went back to their traditional hangout, which she would've known about as she was part of the heist, and killed him before he could talk. The card guys probably just wanted to figure out how hiro and friend cheated, and take their money and then kill them.

Seems like they've put a lot of work into her character so far so I doubt they'd kill her off so soon.

MY thought is that she'll come back 90% bad girl, instead of the other way around like it has been. Probably will team up with horn-rimmed-glasses guy and the baddies to get those with powers and get her son back.

Spoiler warning about the next episode: Plot and/or ending details follow...

episode 7 - Nothing to Hide - Nov 6th air time. Link

Facing a crisis involving her son Micah, a distraught Niki reveals her recent personal struggles to a friend. Pushing aside his own issues at home, Matt assists Audrey's investigation into another bizarre murder, but their pursuit of mysterious serial killer Sylar takes an unexpected turn. After failing to act like a "superhero" when faced with danger, Hiro questions his heroism. Nathan and his wife Heidi (guest star Rena Sofer) strategize how to win the congressional election. Claire is shocked to learn where her missing tape wound up. Meanwhile, her father Mr. Bennet is disturbed by news from one of his associates.

Looks like Niki is alive...

God Bless the good ol' VCR. Set up to tape from 8:50 to 10:10, and you never have to worry about things like that.

Thanks. Damn, I wish I hadn't missed it.
My recording did the same thing. It seems quite a few shows do it too. I wish they would change the programming so those things record 2-3 minutes after the show is "scheduled" to end.
ON DVR you can do this.
I can do this on my TiVo as well. I've just never needed to do it with Heroes before.

Was the cowboy gambler with the Linderman crew? Or was he just playing cards with them to cheat them out of money? Also, how did Nikki know that Linderman's gang was going to be at that location?
The cowboy just wanted to make some money with Hiro and his buddy. He was in the wrong place at the wrong time. Also, I don't think Nikki knew anything about the guys playing poker otherwise she would have killed them before. DL told her that there was one guy involved with the heist who knew that he had bailed and wasn't part of it. Once he told her that, she went out at night and killed the guy and the other two at the table.

I think he was the "fence"
That wasn't Linderman's gang. The guy with the gun laundered the money "evil" Niki stole from Linderman. No one there was involved with the heist itself. Cowboy Hat was forcing Hiro and Ando to cheat the guy out of some money.

Any guesses as to what Micah's power is before it's revealed?I think it's super hearing. He always seem to walk in on private conversations, and knows things he's not supposed to know.
She definately comes back almost full time as bad Nikki, with good Nikki showing up as often as bad Nikki has in the past. Isaac's rubbing the paint off the painting to reveal her tatoo tells me that. After Calire's mom's mention of chromosome testing, I think that symbol is a 3rd DNA strand that the "super" people have.

This has nothing to do with furthering the plot/character discussion, but Hiro and his friend are hilarious."I have a sword?"And when they are going into the bathroom-Poker player "You guys go to the bathroom together?"Hiro's friend "That's how we roll." :lmao: :lmao: :lmao:
I agree. I also like how they keep the Japanese language throughout their dialogue with subtitles. Does anyone not like that aspect of the show?
Nitpick. Why go into the bathroom for privacy to tell Hiro something in a language no one else at the table understood anyway?
If you were a waek little computer Japanes geek and you saw a gun was pointed at you from under a table, you would probably crap your pants and run from it too. He also didn't want Hiro to freak out and give away that he knew about the gun by over-reacting.

Probably so. I bet the guy with the glasses, cheerleaders dad, is part of an agency that did experimental testing on kids + adults, genetic testing, and they marked the kids with a tattoo to be able to track them. That's his job, and it's part of tracking them and finding out what they've been up to. I'm guessing they adopted this girl as something bad happened to the parents, and she was a good subject for experiments, so the dad adopted one of the experimentees just to keep a closer watch on her, not knowing exactly what'd happen. Or maybe baby was sick so the only hope she had for living was to be a subject in an experiment by the dad on her genes...?3rd DNA strand makes sense though, or at the very least some sort of DNA structure different and superior to standard DNA.

 Sounds right from what I now remember now that you mention it.
