GOP Rep Wants To Impeach 'President Hillary Clinton' On Day One

Rep. Mo Brooks (R-Ala.)-

"And in my judgement, with respect to Hillary Clinton, she will be a unique president if she is elected by the public next November, because the day she's sworn in is the day that she's subject to impeachment because she has committed high crimes and misdemeanors," he said.

Seems to be jumping the gun. She is not even a nominee.

What love fest? They grudgingly admitted that she won, barely. Now they are on the attack again. No surprise there.
I don't think there was any begrudging - the pundits all thought Clinton essentially closed out the nomination with her performance at the debate. It was not until after they had reported on the coronation that you saw a backlash from some over-zealous Sanders' supporters who caused the media to blink on the debate results.

Certainly, right-leaning media are going to bash Clinton at any chance they get. But, the left-leaning media has been much more willing to back Clinton on teh majority of issues. On the whole, i think the national media is as out-of-touch with the electorate, and what affects their mood, as most political candidates.

Political commentators are using an old metric to judge success, but I think we are in a different era - where things that mattered 8 years ago in election reporting, no longer are relevant. We won't know until the votes are cast - but I think pollsters/pundits in future election cycles will be looking back at this election for signs on how to better read the mood of the public.
Very thought full . Good posting. ! thank you.

So there is bias in the media? Funny how you finally noticed it.

Not according to Tim and squishy...it's a lock at this point.

Hillary Clinton will announce on Tuesday that 50 current and former black mayors are backing her, including Michael Nutter of Philadelphia, Kasim Reed of Atlanta and Steve Benjamin, the mayor of Columbia, South Carolina and president of the African American Mayors Association.

The endorsements are the latest illustration of Clinton's strong support among African-Americans, who favor the former secretary of state over Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders by over 50 points in many polls. And the endorsements are another sign that many elected officials in the Democratic Party are backing Clinton without waiting to see if Vice President Joe Biden opts to enter the race.

Clinton has made courting African-Americans activists a key part of her campaign, from attending the annual gala for the Congressional Black Caucus to meeting with key figures in the "Black Lives Matter" movement earlier this month. She is expected to roll out a comprehensive set of policies on criminal justice reform next week.

"Our next president must focus on all of our communities, big and small, and I know that Hillary's plans for rural communities will help cities and towns like Manning. Her plan to create an infrastructure bank will provide much-needed investments and ensure we have water, sewer and broadband systems," said Mayor Julia Nelson of Manning, South Carolina, in a statement distributed by the Clinton campaign.

Several of the mayors are from South Carolina, the first state in the Democratic primary process with a large black population and a critical one for Clinton, because she is heavily-favored there. Iowa and New Hampshire both have largely white, liberal electorates, and Sanders could win both states.

To be sure, some prominent African-American mayors have not yet backed Clinton, including Muriel Bowser of Washington, D.C. And among mayors who are not black, New York's Bill de Blasio and Los Angeles' Eric Garcetti, who run America's two largest cities, have also not endorsed the Democratic front-runner.

This sort of endorsement by black mayors is far more important than anything from Black Lives Matter. In 2007 these same mayors withheld their endorsements from Hillary and then swung to Obama after he won Iowa. That sealed the deal for him in most of the southern states. This time around she's got them.

Hillary has held these endorsements now for some time but is only now at this particular juncture releasing them because Biden is on the verge of getting in the race. Many such endorsements flipped with Obama, these could as well.

Obama's endorsement of Biden trumps 100,000 mayor endorsements.

And really he doesn't need a formal endorsement from Obama. They have more or less become bromigos in the WH.

I hate to say it but I think he missed his moment. Clinton's debate performance and the GOP public acknowledgements of the motivations behind the BENGHAZI investigation have turned the tide for Hill.

(right forgot)

I just heard from a pretty connected source that Biden is running, a formal announcement will be out very soon.
I hate to say it but I think he missed his moment. Clinton's debate performance and the GOP public acknowledgements of the motivations behind the BENGHAZI investigation have turned the tide for Hill.
Ok, so I have a question - let's say we can all agree that Joe knows a gazillion times more than all of us put together about the lay of the land.

Now, let's say he gets in. Knowing what he knows and he knows the above and a whole lot more...

.... then why is he getting in?

(and please leave out any sentimental bit about his son).

He desperately wants to be POTUS and at his age this is his last chance. So despite the difficult political landscape, he figures he might as well try to thread the needle and get the nomination.

I don't agree that he knows a gazillion times more than all of us put together about the lay of the land. Just like in sports, the players know a lot less than we think about what contributes to wins and losses.

My guess? Bernie's peaked. He doesn't have a shot in a general election and Chaffee/O'Malley/Webb don't either. They need to have a viable, electable candidate if the Clinton campaign craters somehow.

Bernie was right! By a 78-18 margin, Americans think too much time is devoted to @HillaryClinton's emails.

It all comes down to the FBI investigation of Hillary's emails, if they move forward with charges against Hillary or one of her top aides (Huma, Mills) then it is absolutely not too late for Joe to get into the race.

If you think that we spend too much time talking about the scandals that follow Hillary around, there's a pretty easy solution to that -- get her out of the race and replace her with a less corrupt candidate. You don't get to support a crook and then complain when people talk about her crookedness.

WASHINGTON—Washington was in turmoil on Tuesday morning as a House select committee abruptly cancelled its Benghazi hearings shortly after former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton announced that she was withdrawing from the Presidential race.

Secretary Clinton’s stunning announcement came at 9:00 A.M., followed by the committee chairman Trey Gowdy’s decision to cancel the hearings at 9:04.

“As you know, we have been preparing for this week’s hearings for months,” Gowdy said. “However, after meeting with fellow committee members over the past four minutes, we’ve come to the conclusion that we know all we need to know about Benghazi.”

Gowdy flatly denied that the decision to cancel the long-awaited Benghazi hearings had anything to do with Clinton’s sudden departure from the race. “We wish her well in whatever her future endeavors may be,” he said.

But shortly after Gowdy’s announcement, Clinton called an impromptu press conference at 9:13 to announce that she was jumping back into the race. “I was just trying to prove a point,” she told reporters, before heading off to campaign stops in Iowa and New Hampshire.

Minutes after Clinton’s second announcement, an irate Gowdy called her decision to reenter the race “beyond unethical” and revealed that the committee’s investigators had just uncovered fresh evidence about Benghazi.
Ha that would be funny. - But yeah well State just provided (or dumped) 1300 pages of Ambassador Stevens' emails in Gowdy's lap, so I'm guessing, play on.

You don't get to mislabel candidates as crooks when they've never been charged with a crime and then complain when people allege that you're more interested in unfairly disparaging the candidate then talking about the issues.

Look, I don't like her too much myself, and I was genuinely troubled by the email stuff until I got a look at the first GOP debate. But the GOP has overplayed its hand when it comes to Clinton "scandals" time and time again. It can't possibly be a surprise that people are skeptical and tired of hearing about it. They do Aesop's Fables in elementary school, right? How did an entire political party miss the one about the boy crying wolf?

All right. I'M SICK OF THIS!!!

I really like you Ivan, and that's probably why I've put up with your "Hillary is a crook" mantra for months now. Here's the thing- I used to think that Hillary was a crook too, or at least one seriously corrupt politician. There was a whole list of shady things she's been involved in ever since she appeared on the public scene. So it's pretty easy to assume that she's one awful person.

Except that every time I tried to learn the details of each one of these shady things, I found that there really wasn't anything to it. The pattern was always the same: a series of facts that look bad from afar until you look at them more closely in which they make much more sense, a bunch of accusations without any foundation, an assumption of guilt by partisan enemies (and sometimes non-partisan observers) which turns out to be completely unfounded.

My conclusion is that there has NEVER been any compelling evidence that Hillary Clinton is a corrupt person. There's a lot of smoke, mostly manufactured from outside, but no fire. So I don't regard her as corrupt.

Sorry..but once a crook...always a crook. No amount of sticking your head in the sand will change that.

Max, you just wrote "Once a crook always a crook."

Please provide a clear, compelling example of crooked behavior by Hillary Clinton in the past, so that I can agree with your "once a crook" statement.

Bernie was right! By a 78-18 margin, Americans think too much time is devoted to @HillaryClinton's emails.

The view is even shared by 60% of Republicans! lol.
Goawsh, even Paul Begala said that? Man that tide she is a`changin'.

- eta - and it's a Brock/Blumenthal Clinton SuperPac poll? Yeah, good stuff here.
If you think that we spend too much time talking about the scandals that follow Hillary around, there's a pretty easy solution to that -- get her out of the race and replace her with a less corrupt candidate. You don't get to support a crook and then complain when people talk about her crookedness.

Yeah there's a thread for that, the evidence is piled high like Katrina refuse at this point. She has been taking cash money (not just campaign dollars) from people she and her husband regulate since the mid 70s.

This sort of endorsement by black mayors is far more important than anything from Black Lives Matter. In 2007 these same mayors withheld their endorsements from Hillary and then swung to Obama after he won Iowa. That sealed the deal for him in most of the southern states. This time around she's got them.
Yeah…blacks weren't ever going to vote for Obama until black mayors endorsed him.

Are you kidding? There is a whole thread for that. Pick any report over the last year and dive in and reply.

Holy hell... they came right out and told you what this is really about and you're still banging this drum in seriousness?

I mean it's great schtick and all, but when the people actually doing the con let you in on the game it's probably time to stop chasing the shell with the peanut underneath it.
Funny how you suddenly believe republicans when it fits your narrative.
Admissions against interest.

Logically, why should watching the GOP debate change your feelings about the email issue? There's nothing contradictory about thinking the Republican party is a giant dumpster fire right now and simultaneously thinking that Clinton behaved unethically, irresponsibly, and incompetently by setting up her own email server.
