Interesting theory that Bill purposefully tried to taint Lynch expressly to get an independent prosecutor assigned, which would delay the process past the election.

Crafty at the very least.
this would presume the leak from the Bubba side of things, which is possible but kind of unlikely given the way it played out, I would think it would have gone to a higher profile player than the local phoenix guy.  This was hoped to have been kept under wraps, by all appearances and reports.

After reading this I'm coming back off the ledge with Lynch. I'm still pissed at the lack of disclosure, and the bizarre interview with Capehart where she said she would effectively recuse herself unless she merely decided not to, but it's starting to look like Bill practically barged down her door.

“Then I see Clinton walking over. His detail guys ran over to hers and said he’s coming. ‘He’s closing.’ He walked straight there to the Air Force guy at the door and next thing I know he’s going up the steps [of her plane].” Asked about the Air Force detail, the source later clarified to the Observer that “There was an Air Force airman at the base of the stairs of the [Lynch] aircraft, as you always see on TV with POTUS.”

According to the source, “Nobody knew this was coming. We just knew to be aware there were other events going on. There was no planned meeting. It was just chance contact. The fact is, he just started walking over. I don’t think it was pre-arranged. He just started walking over and [even her security] can’t tell him, ‘you can’t do that.’ He walked in her plane for at least 20 to 25 minutes and the FBI is standing face to face with the Secret Service and just chatting on the hot tarmac like, ‘what the hell.’ ” ... her staff was already talking about it that it’s going to be a political problem for her. Her staff was flipping out. We didn’t think about the political part until we saw her staff flipping out. For the security guys, it was more of a ‘I’ve got armed guys coming into my perimeter’ problem. But the staff guys saw right away that it was a political problem. After Clinton got off, they were like, ‘that wasn’t good.’ And I know from others who were in the actual car with her that her people knew immediately the political ramifications of it and were very upset.”

- eta - There is zero doubt Bill and Hillary would LOVE to recreate the old Starr rubric with the bad guy special prosecutor, they cannot do that with Lynch and the DOJ, it's a major weakness for them with what is going on. The old VRWC doesn't fly and not only that there is a serious cloud of a claim of potential political favoritism, so even if she is cleared she's never really cleared. They would love a SP, absolutely. Unfortunately for them Bill just tangled it up and made the taint even worse, he really created a taint where there was none before.

Yes.  Read that too. I believe Bill had a calculated motive and likely planned his "chance" encounter.  Which makes the theory that he set out to poison the well more plausible.

Really hoping Clinton's are in panic mode, but still seems a long shot Obama's DOJ indicts.  But at least Bill may think it's possible.

Obama openly endorsing and campaigning for Hillary already makes people question the impartiality of the DOJ.  Comey is turning to be the guy who decides Hillary's fate.

71% of women under 30 do not view Hillary's nomination as a historic achievement.

I think this is a case of a battle too well won. Young women, including my daughters, don't see any barriers to their social and economic advancement and really don't get that only a few short years ago the roles of women in society were far more straight jacketed than they are now.

It's kind of sad that they don't know the history. But even though this is not a good thing for Hillary's campaign, I'd argue that it is a good result for America in general. The feminists fought, struggled, and won their battles. That war is over for the most part.

Weird, almost like they're not enthused.

Happy 4th of July from the next President of the USA!

I think this is a very good post. My 16 and 11 year old daughters feel the same way. Of course they actually believe women run the word :P

But I think Clinton is the wrong lady at the right time. She is so hated and her personality is so abrasive that younger female voters do not like her. When she talks on the TV, my 16 year old says why is she always yelling? It just shows that if the Republicans could have put up a new energetic face for their party this year (and not the same old retreads we saw during the primaries), this election wouldn't have been a slam dunk for her.

I still am voting Trump, but it will take a miracle for Clinton not to win.

Don't believe it's in Comey's hands.  It's bejng set up to have the appearance. DOJ is still in charge.

Comey isn't going to recommend anything - he will present his findings for the DOJ to decide.  Which of course means they will decide to do nothing.

I'd say the notion that the FBI are interviewing Clinton in her home tells you where all the power lies.  There is nobody in the FBI with the gravitas to take on Clinton in her home turf.  They know it.  She knows it.

Daughter is only 4, but my niece is 16.  Her comment while me and my brother were talking about this:  "It's Donald Trump.  I don't get it".  We explained to her what we were talking about and she couldn't get passed the fact it was Donald Trump against her.

Fwiw it looks like Hillary left her home this morning around 500 am ET and may have returned a short while ago, so my guess is it was somewhere else. 4-6 hour interview at the FBI or some neutral site seems likely (but it would need to be extremely secure, so my guess is @FBI). The campaign is not responding to request for confirmation or denial.

It's almost like during the primary Republican voters were thinking "Hmm, what is the best way for us to ensure that the woman we hate most becomes President?"

Ask Scho. He will know and will know with conviction.

From Politico:

“Secretary Clinton gave a voluntary interview this morning about her email arrangements while she was Secretary. She is pleased to have had the opportunity to assist the Department of Justice in bringing this review to a conclusion. Out of respect for the investigative process, she will not comment further on her interview,” Clinton spokesman Nick Merrill said.
The interview took place at FBI headquarters in Washington over the course of three and a half hours.

Voluntary. Arrangements. Pleased. Assist. Conclusion/

Classic Clinton wordsmithing here.

Timing's everything I guess

Hope and trust the FBI A-team was on hand and will control leaks -- but so curious how many times she said "I don't recall" -- if she refused to answer, plead the 5th.  In short, just how "cooperative" she was.

She said she was "pleased".  That's code meaning it didn't go as well as she had hoped.

She was pleased to have the opportunity to assist the FBI, so I'm sure she was completely candid and forthcoming.

Btw ABC affiliate scooped the world on the Bill/Lynch meeting and the Daily Caller did the same on the FBI shaking Hillary's tree today.

National media MIA.
